I would have liked to give the hotel more stars. Truly. However, after spending a week at the Jamestown Resort Hotel, I frankly wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The room itself needs a lot of TLC. While the rooms are spacious and have a great view, they are run down and obviously not well taken care of. For example, the pipe in the shower is lose and rattles in the wall, there are stains on the bathroom counter, etc. However, these things could be forgivable if it weren't for the other concerning things. The first night of our arrival, we went into town to buy some groceries. When we got back the electronic key card reader didn't work. After calling multiple times to reach the front office with no answer, we resigned ourselves to sleeping in the car. However, my husband just happened to see an emergency number posted over the event room in the hotel. We reached a national number who connected us with an "on-call" person who said they would send security to let us in. After waiting about 30 minutes, a security guard showed up with a keycard to let us in even though we had been clear that the reader didn't work. He then left us alone standing outside our hotel room after sharing that he didn't know how to get us in and someone else would have to come help. After approx. 2 hours, we finally were able to get into our room. The next morning after we woke up, I went to the kitchen area to make breakfast with the items we bought and half our pastries and breakfast food were completely swarming with sugar ants. I threw the food away and called the front desk and they said that someone would take care of it. We had ants on and off the entire week and didn't use the kitchen area after that. When I shared my information with the front office staff, they seemed very unconcerned until I made a call to the corporate office. Only then did I receive a phone call saying that they apologized for the concerning lack of staffing in the evening and the ants - they then offered to make it right by buying me a Kroger gift card to replace the ruined groceries, on the condition I could provide a receipt. Frankly, Safe Harbor needs to get out of the hotel business if they don't want to be bothered with running a hotel. I spent over $2000 for two rooms for the week, and could have stayed somewhere much nicer. I would literally never send my worst enemy to this hotel - stay at your own risk, especially knowing that there will be no compensation for your time or materials.

They sent me to South Florida where, for the first five years of my Federal Law Enforcement career, I was a Special Agent, assigned to Marine Drug Interdiction. In addition to that experience, I have owned and operated boats since the mid '70's. I am an experienced Boat Operator, and I have a 100 Ton Ocean Master's Certificate. In late 2019, we replaced our Scarab with a 2020 NauticStar 2302 Center Console, a design favored by Law Enforcement everywhere. We bought the boat from Coast to Coast Marine in Somerset, KY who recommended Sick Speed Marine to install the electronics. I like a boat outfitted with the equipment I am used to - VHF, RADAR, SONAR, Directional Remote Controlled Searchlight, etc. I've found that most local boaters do not use VHF radios - a must have option in South Florida where this boat will spend much of it's time. My friends would characterize me as being somewhat "OCD," and others might use more colorful adjectives but, suffice it to say, anything less than first rate equipment, properly installed, and fully functional is wholly unacceptable to me. The sea is an unforgiving place, and on more than one occasion, my safety has depended upon it. I was offered a fair price, and I accepted the proposed invoice as written, with the understanding that everything would be professionally installed. The final work product by Nick and Derek at Sick Speed was immaculate. I hope this Review is helpful. Be Safe Out There Bill E. Branscum InvestigatorBEB@aol.com
