They weren't able to help me went down to safe and sound not only were they able to resolve my issue in minutes, but were able to talk me through what was going on in a way that I can understand. They weren't trying to upsell me, or charge me for some nonsense like the dealership was. Fantastic communication around my auto start. But then was able to also talk to me about my questions with getting a new stereo deck. was happy to hear about the ones that they had to offer with an estimated cost. Also had no idea that they did window tinting as well. Will be happy to come down this summer and get that done. I would recommend this place to anybody as going to a big box is great. First off, the only reason this place is not getting a 1 star, is because the guys in there are really nice. Cool dudes that mean well, the only problem is they don't know how to do their jobs. I took my truck in because the speakers were cutting in and out, and there was a whine that would play through the speakers when the radio was on. They said they could fix it same day, so I dropped it off in the morning. 2 full days later, I pick my truck up to find the radio is completely shot, even though it was working when I dropped it off. So now I can't test to see if they fixed anything, which they said they did, but even if they did, I'm out a $500 touchscreen radio. The craziest part, is they still charged me $380. I basically paid them $380 to fuck my truck up worse than it was when I dropped it off. Super disappointed. Hope they have their techs take some classes or something, because they're idiots. read more

Dropped in to get my radio looked at because the sound stopped working. The guy behind the counter asked a couple questions, diagnosed the issue and gave me options for a repair. Repair was completed, but then there was that "magic smoke" aroma, anyone who has worked on electronics knows that smell. Welp guess what, needed a new part and with their recommendations they sold me on one that I should've originally purchased years ago. A few hours later, the technician steps out to show me a major fix that would allow for my system to last longer. They have very very fair prices, are extremely knowledgeable and I can also tell that they care about their craft and work. For many years I would run outside to start my car in the cold of winter weather. Then I splurged one year and got AutoStart, and now I cannot go back to the simple life. So, earlier this summer my car battery died for good and after replacing it my AutoStart wouldn't work anymore. Couldn't figure out what was wrong (not the fuse or key fob), so I brought it here as they are one of the few Viper dealers in Anchorage. It was a quick fix. Blew the antenna and brain or something like that. Didn't cost too much and I left happy. So, I decided to give the gift of luxury warmth to my sister for this winter and got her outfitted with an AutoStart on her Forester too. In terms of customer service, Milo was very pleasant to deal with for my car, and with my sister when she brought her car in. I bought a Ford Ranger and needed a remote for the remote start and Rob took care of me. He inspected and found out which fob was needed and got it and programmed it! I returned a few months later and needed a battery for an Equinox and Rob again took care of me, opening the fob and replacing the battery. The same day, I bought a Legacy and needed a fob. Even though I walked in off the street the guys didn't try to upsell me and gave multiple quotes at different price ranges based on what I was looking for. The other places I went to assumed they knew what I wanted and didn't have a great selection. They also gave me an appointment within a week and finished the work before the close of business as promised. Guys were professional and communicative throughout, and clearly very excited and knowledgeable about car audio. And they also tried to sell me a deck that after me dropping my suv to get it installed they say they can't do it. What the F**k. How the F do you not know you can't install something. Or don't have what it takes to install it. Come on kids get it together. If you can't do something then don't say you can. It's not a big deal but when you say twice you can install something and then AFTER I drop off my suv and take another lyft to come pick it up and ask for a discount on my next install you (safe and sound) say you don't do that. Your not a big business you can give me a break after I stop by twice and see if you can install my deck. And then you wait till I get home to call me and say you can't do it. That's so unprofessional. I'm sorry but you need to bring your A game when your dealing with other people's money and time and ride. Come on guys help me out for the money I spent and my time. I drive a Mercedes GLK 350 2010 which was serviced B1 schedule Dec 2016. I've never had any electronic issues and just needed my auto start reinitialized since it stopped working after the battery was replaced in the car about 6 months ago. I initially took my car to Mercedes about 2 weeks ago and they recommended "Safe and Sound" for reinitailizing my car start. I drove my car to "Safe and Sound" this morning for my 9:15 appointment and about an hour later they drove my car back to the front of the store and said my radio wouldn't shut off and none of the buttons were working. I stepped inside my vehicle and was greeted by my radio display shutting on/off intermittently. I pressed the heated seats and the radio shut off. Also, audible static could be heard coming from the radio when pressing the heated seats or other buttons. As a computer technician I immediately thought that a surge or fault must have been introduced into the system. Even when I would manually shut off the vehicle the radio would flash on/off thus continuously draining my battery. The technician did mention that they had removed the battery terminal to see if that would reinitialize my auto start though. I asked for the store owner but was introduced to the store manager who started to explain that its a plug/play system and there's no way anything they did could have caused these "New" issues that I've never experienced before with this vehicle. I asked him to get into the car to show him what was occurring and he suggested that they pull my vehicle around back again and remove the auto start completely. Once they removed the auto start the car would shut down without the radio turning on but now none of the buttons for the radio/phone work and only the radio can be controlled by the steering wheel. Also, from inside the car you cannot manually press the off button on the radio as well. All the employees at "Safe and Sound" were very friendly and cordial but found it frustrating that no one would take ownership and told me the radio was going in/out before they even touched it. Which is extremely odd since everything was working fine before I gave them the keys to my car. They also suggested that they have cars that have all of a sudden stopped working while in their custody and that its just the luck of the draw and that sometimes you inherit other problems that were going bad anyway...lots of deflecting. They did not charge me for the service but now I have a less functioning vehicle than when I drove it in. Also, now I must have Mercedes diagnose my vehicle to see what other components may have been compromised due to whatever happened to my vehcle while "Safe and Sound" was servicing it. This may cost me several hundred dollars with Mercedes due to possible negligence but will update this post to let you know what the dealership finds. I currently don't know how "Safe and Sound" my vehicle is at this moment due to the obvious short that magically appeared during my appointment this morning. Doug Mckee P.S. The master mechanic at Mercedes mentioned he never heard of this problem before since the heated seats are on a totally different electronics connection. 30 Sep 2017 - Update Mercedes checked out my vehicle and found the entire Radio/Phone module in my center console had been blown. The part/installation will cost $2,148 which I've already paid for. I've filed a claim with GEICO who have always been awesome to work with. After the new part install Mercedes will determine if any other electrical damages have occurred and GEICO will cut a check for anything over my deductible. It still infuriates me that Safe and Sound takes no responsibility whatsoever for damaging my vehicle. I've researched on line and determined that damage like this occurs when you're negative terminal is accidentally energized causing a power surge into your car wreaking havoc to the many computer systems within your car. This easily could have been done while the technician was removing my battery terminals to reinitialize my auto start. read more

I really highly recommend this place! The staff who works there are friendly and they have always came in clutch since I got here to alaska on December of 2019. I've had a 2013 WRX and I needed auto start for winter, they got that done and I was happily satisfied. Now, I have a 2016 STI and I gotten my head unit and subs installed, and lemme tell you, it's worth every penny I've spent. Everytime I get something done from them, I always leave with a big smile on my face. These staff are the only people I seem to trust with doing anything to my car. I recently bought a used Subaru equipped with a viper alarm system. Unfortunately, the only key fob I received with the car was not properly programmed to the viper alarm. I stopped by during business hours, and Milo was very helpful. He immediately went outside to my car, looked at the alarm control box, determined which model it was, and then programmed my 3 key fobs (I had bought 2 extras in case I lost one). I was very happy! I asked him how much I owed him, and he said nothing. It may have taken him "only 15 minutes", but this type of customer service will result in me recommending his business to EVERYONE I know. I have had to essentially remove and reinstall my remote start. The install that I paid for was a rats nest of wiring. Cold solder joints everywhere, firewall penetrations with no grommets, and of course, tons of cheap electrical tape and zero heat shrink. This is the kind of install quality I would expect from someone with an ad on Craigslist. I'm not sure I would even expect Best Buy to do that poor of quality install work. I posted a picture of my ignition switch harness I just had to replace due to my ABS and blower motor not working. The installer cut the wires too short and scabbed in a length of speaker wire to make up for it. Again, cold solder joints and tons of cheap electrical tape balled up everywhere. I have also had to rewire the door lock relays which burned up (a pair of Bosch relays should have been used) after being placed below the carpet behind the kick panel, upside down, with no mechanical anchoring system. The tiny wires going to the relays fatigued and broke off, along with snow melt from the driver's feet dripping in to the enclosure and rotting everything since it was placed below your feet with no protection. read more

This business is set up to rip off its costumers. Paid 2 grand to have two trucks outfitted with mid and tweet speakers in the door with amp, auto start installation and window tinted. The sound is at or worse than stalk speakers. They broke my door handle connection which i had to get repaired. The tint had multiple bubbles which needed repair and replacement. The auto start only worked half the tome. This place sucks and provides work that youd expect from a street corner meth adict. Do not go here! read more

They installed my autostart on my F250 diesel a couple years ago with no issues so I returned. I made an appointment for 930 AM to have one installed on my wife's Jeep. I called at 330 PM and they said it would be done by 530 PM. Not a big deal since I worked until 5. When I showed up, it was not done and I did not get it until 715 PM!! It was not just the time but the fact that the only way I got any information was to ask. No one came up and gave me updates or apologized for the delay. Based on this, I will not be going back or recommending them to anyone. Poor customer service does not make up for quality work. read more

I knew it was going to take all day because I asked before I left so If you can't be w out your car for a day then I guess this isn't the place for you ? Unfortunately, I have to give a 1 star rating for our tinting experience. We don't live in Anchorage and therefore had to line up a tinting appointment with when we would be in town. We made the appointment about a month in advance. On the day of the appointment, we received a call while we were on the way over to drop the vehicle off, informing us that the staff member that does the tinting was sick and we would have to reschedule. We only had one more day left in Anchorage, so we agreed to re-book for the following morning. The following morning, we dropped the vehicle off. The vehicle had been booked for a full tint (7 windows). Unbeknownst to us, a very light grade tint had already been applied by a previous owner of the vehicle to two of the rear doors (we had assumed it was factory tint). Our instructions were to remove ALL the tint and apply brand new tint to all the windows. This was not done, and only new tint was applied to the tint-less windows. We weren't informed of this and didn't know until we picked up the vehicle at the end of the day - Fine, that's not what we wanted done, but we can live with that. We were told to not roll the windows down for 3 days so the tint had time to fully dry. We drove home. The windows were not rolled down for 7 days. The car was not washed. We went to wash it finally and noticed a number of issues. On the driver's window, there's 2 fairly large bubbles that keep reappearing (you can try and "squeegee" them down, but they just reappear after a few hours). On the passenger side window, there's a large crease in the corner that is raised up quite a bit that you can easily feel with your fingers. And when you roll the window down or up, you can hear a "paper flapping / crinkling" sound. Obviously we're not very happy with the tint job. We tried contacting Safe & Sound again, but it's been a week and we haven't heard back. Somehow I don't think we will.... We have a suspicion that the job was rushed - one could presume there was a back-log of tint jobs from the day the employee was sick, and we had to "cram" our vehicle in the next day because were leaving town to head back home. We also have to assume that's why they didn't remove all the tint and do all 7 windows, there just wasn't time. Because of this, maybe the job was rushed and the result is, well, have a look at the pictures. The windows are still tinted, and the staff we dealt with in-person were all friendly enough, but being ignored when issues are brought up is really unacceptable, especially considering it's not that simple for us to "just take the vehicle back". Quite honestly, given the lack of response when we did try and reach out with concerns, we're not sure we would want to take the vehicle back there anyways...... read more

I decided to see their newest alarm/auto start and they said they could use my previous set up so it didn't cost the full price. Without an appt they took the truck in and installed the new system in. I waited in their make shift waiting area, which isn't the best but most people drop off their cars. A few months ago I dropped my auto start somewhere and lost it for good. I had a fully installed system when I first moved here from Best Buy that was CompuStar and was concerned not knowing how any of it works that I would have to get a new system installed. Anytime I see my auto mechanic (even though they are fantastic) they always seem to disconnect my auto start that was put in by Safe & Sound. I have been having difficulty the last few mornings with my auto start and figured before it gets even colder I should take a trip in to Safe & Sound to see if they could find the issue. As expected I went in this morning to find their exceptional customer service and willingness to locate the problem. He looked at my truck right in the parking lot, immediately solved the issue, and even suggested places to go with current Groupon oil changes. Which was next on my to do list for the day. What sucks is you can't leave 0 stars cause that's what they deserve. Took my truck in for window tinting and it came back horrible! Didn't have time to fully check it out when I picked it up because I had to rush back to work, the other bad part is I had to make special arrangements with my work to get the truck to them. When I got home I saw the terrible job they did. Dirt behind the tint, air bubbles everywhere, they didn't even clean up after themselves, still had squeegee marks on the tint all over. Poorly done, now I'm having to take it to another place and have it tore off and re-tinted. read more
