Our first impression was that it seemed a little lighter and cheerier in terms of decor though the basic layout hadn't really changed. There is a main bar area and also a room towards the rear with a pool table, also outside seating to the front of the pub and another little beer garden at the back. They seem to be working hard to provide an interesting menu with daily specials etc. and the prices seemed a bit below average for the area and style of menu. We didn't dine so I can't comment on the food but it looked fine and dandy and I'd certainly give it a whirl when we're next in the area. Black Sheep and Wainwright's were the two beers I remember being on the pumps. The thing I found most notable during my visit though was the friendly and exceptionally helpful staff, nothing seemed to be too much trouble for them, excellent! There is ample car parking and just across the road down some steps is the Lancaster Canal with moorings for two or three boats. Pleasant little pub!

And I wasn't disappointed. Food was excellent, good service, and plenty of space/choice of tables (admittedly on an early Tuesday evening). Real ale is served as it is a Marstons' pub (Pedigree was on offer, along with one guest ale, and Banks was also there). Lots of parking available. Worth a visit.

Saying this a really do think its worth at least one visit. The layout and décor is warm and friendly and staff always greet you pleasantly on arrival. Service is quick and food always arrives warm. This is a chain of pubs so don't go expecting home cooked food, it is however good quality food for what it is. If you visit ensure you take a look at the 'specials' board which on some days containing more options than the menu!!!

The play area is now free and has ball pools, big slides and a soft play section for the under 5's. The carvery is also 2 for 1 and is £7.95 for 2 meals so is very cheap. They have turkey, gammon and beef to choose from and an extensive array of vegetables and roast potatoes. Always tastes good whenever I have been and the staff are very friendly and helpful.
