Three of us arrived at the pub around 2:00pm for lunch. The pub was about three-quarters full, but not overly busy and we found a table right away. There was a menu advertizing beer battered halibut and chips, also veg soup and tuna sandwich. My husband sometimes forgets what we want so I wrote down the order. He wanted the halibut and chips, and I wanted the veg soup and tuna sandwich. Our son wanted a chili burger. Husband and son wanted beer, and I wrote down that I would have a sparkling water with fresh lime.
First my sparkling water came back with sugary Rose's lime juice, but I let that go. My husband said the waitress who took the order was texting on the phone while she was taking the order. He went to complain but he said the waitress was outside smoking and the place was getting ready.
Well, we waited and waited for our lunch. It did not come. Another group of people came to sit at the next table, and they put in their order. We waited some more, and then my husband went to see what was holding up our food. The waitress had not only lost the list that I made, but she had not put the order through for our food. So, we waited some more. Meanwhile folks around us who had come in after us were getting served.
Finally, after almost an hour the waitress brought the food. The chili burger that my son ordered was a joke. It was overcooked, and the chili was about a teaspoonful of bottled chili sauce. They said they were out of the fish and my husband said he would have the steak pie which consisted of a spoonful of beef with a pie crust baked separately and placed on top of the mead. Chips and veg were included.
The veg soup I ordered was substituted for tomato soup, and the tuna salad sandwich was on pasty white bread with mashed up tuna and no mayo. Just awful. Then when I went to eat the soup there was no spoon, so I had to get up and ask for one.
When we complained to the manager she said she was very sorry but that they had been very busy.
We will never eat there again. read more
