This facility has a million dollar view and is surrounded by the Ouachita National Forest. During the April 8, 2024, the owner created new RV sites for customers and only charged $88 for a three night stay. This is during the time when others were charging hundreds of dollars for a multi-night stay in a field in primitive conditions for this once in a lifetime event. Expect to see great things from these owners.

We went for many walks, sat in the swings, and swam in the creek. We explored nearby sights like Albert Pike. We also checked out the cemetery and it was really surreal to see all of the OLD (1800s) tombstones (or sometimes just small rocks.) The name says it all: it is very peaceful.

I was perusing around in the awesome gift shop and they had lots of 2024 solar eclipse souvenirs. Had a nice conversation with the ladies at the desk about the eclipse watching plans at the park. The rest rooms are very clean. The original lodge was built in the 1800's as a Victorian resort named Wilhelmina Inn to honor the young queen of the Netherlands. My kids are tough to keep contained for that long so we go outside while waiting and let them run around. The catfish platter is my go-to. It's very good. The downside is getting more than one side of tartar sauce is like pulling teeth. The potato logs always come out and have been sitting under the hot line for way too long and are all dried up. My husbands chicken fried steak is hit or miss. This past time it was way too thick and not even warm when it came to the table. The fried mushrooms are excellent. We will continue to go back because we love the drive but the food and the service are definitely not improving over the years.

The longer my trip goes, the better the hotels get. Ozark has risen to the top of my list so far,…read moredespite not having any food up front (not that that's a dealmaker for me). The only other real con for me is that these are outdoor rooms - but there are no indoor hotels anywhere near this price point in the area. To be fair, every place has had good service for me so far, and no exception - the Ozark desklady happily gave me a second key to unlock the room that had my first key locked inside (I was really tired last night, sorry!). Rooms are very well maintained and kept clean. No loiterers outside, unlike other hotels on this vacation, and no smoking anywhere. This all shows, and it's why we're at the top. What I'd like to see for 5 stars: quieter room A/Cs, slightly softer beds, room lights a little less obnoxiously bright (no lamps, it's just a few overheads - all or nothing it feels like). It's close. A good choice for Mena travelers.

Cabins come supplied with essentials: plates, forks, pots & pans, towels, etc. They also have fire pits and bbq pits. The cabin was roomy and decorated nicely. Nice quiet location. Rates are about the same as a hotel room and you've got a full kitchen and no noisy people running up and down the halls and slamming doors. The cabins have enough separation that if the other one is occupied you should still have a quiet stay. The one and only downside I had (which we didn't have to deal with) is there is a rv hook-up between the cabins. So, if someone uses that rv spot you're going to have some close company. We stayed during the weekday so we had the place to ourselves. We really enjoyed the comfortable cabin and peace and quiet after a long day of riding and sight seeing. The owner is very friendly and helpful. I spoke to him several times on the phone with questions and he was happy to answer them all and didn't get upset that I called him. He was very helpful with anything we asked and was glad that we stayed there. I'm not sure how many rv spots he has but there are several along a creek that runs on one edge of the property. Also, you can ride your atv/utv from the property to one of the trail heads. If you're looking for a quiet, comfortable, and really nice place to stay take a look at Hanson's!
