What an adventure to even get to the Queen Wilhelmina Lodge. It's on top of a mountain -- and it was kind of scary getting up there after dark. The lodge is beautiful and reminds me of a Frank Lloyd Wright style. It blend in with the landscape in terms of building materials and colors. I think I saw where they just remodeled the rooms. Ours was very nice, and the bathroom had a lovely walk in slate or stone shower and granite counter tops in the bathroom. One bonus for train lovers is a full size locomotive on site and also a small train kids of all ages can ride. This stop was suggested to us from a relative. It was a scenic drive which was a little out of the way to get to Oklahoma, but well worth the drive.

Amazing veggie quesadillas!!! Donny served us outside because of the dog. Wonderful food! Beautiful room! Can't believe this is a state park! Loved hiking Lover's Leap! Only one mile but it took me 42 minutes. Very rocky in the center of the trail. Was glad I had my hiking pole for stability. Staff is super friendly! Would love to return!

The Queen Wilhelmina Lodge has just been completely remodeled and updated, a process that reportedly kept it closed for over a year. It certainly is wonderfully nice now. The rooms are large and spacious, the bathrooms completely modern, and all the technological amenities are in place. Given its newly upgraded facilities, the pricing is very reasonable. So, it's a very nice State Park Lodge. But as they say, the three rules of real estate are, "Location, location, location." The Queen Wilhelmina has that covered. It is located at one of the most scenic peaks of Rich Mountain, on the Skyline Drive itself. The view is simply breathtaking. Watching the sunset, or the stars come out is amazing. The park is located in the midst of the national forest, with historical sites and hiking trails both on the park, and nearby along the parkway. It is near enough to Mena, Arkansas, to easily drive in for a meal, to visit to the quaint shops, or the historical train depot museum. However, one need not leave the lodge to eat. The Lodge has a full restaurant that has a decent menu, as well as the frequent buffet. One should not get in a hurry if ordering from the menu, as things are clearly cooked to order. All the meals I tried were hearty and homestyle. So, the Queen Wilhelmina is absolutely worth visiting if you are passing through. Alternately, it can serve as your base of operations for visiting the area, and/or hiking in the national forests.

The lodge has been rebuilt and is beautiful! The rooms are very nice and the staff is friendly and helpful. Of course, the view is breathtaking. The restaurant serves basic but good food.

I didn't have high expectations for the state park restaurant -- but I was wrong.

We rode our motorcycle down and checked in at 1030 at night. When we got to the room, the door was…read morewide open and the beds had no linens. They said the housekeeper walked out that day, but no one ever finished the room or closed the doors. They came and made the bed and let us go in. The room didn't feel clean, and after being a paramedic for years and going into nasty homes, I decided to check things out. I pulled the mattress back that they had JUST MADE and found remnants of blood spots and waste on the edges of the box springs. I knew it was from bed bugs, but trying to be optimistic I kept looking to see if I was wrong. Nope, the further I looked the more I found and then bam, right on the seams I found young and mature bed bugs still alive and moving. We immediately packed our stuff and went to tell them we were leaving to go across the street to Sun Country Inn (definitely recommend that place) and they weren't even surprised, they acted like it was normal and supposed to be acceptable and rudely told us "well you know there are no refunds, right?" I will NEVER stay here again and you shouldn't either.

This place is a nightmare. There is a sign posted at the front door that reads, "Absolutely no…read morerefunds". This should have been a red flag but my husband and I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. What should have been posted under that sign was one that read, " Stay at your own risk!". The first night we discovered the room was infested with cockroaches. The moldy smell of the room should have been a warning. We notified the front desk and the hotel clerk walked with us to THREE other rooms before we found one without evidence of cockroaches. The rooms all had the same heavy, moldy smell. We awoke, on the second morning, to find BEDBUGS crawling across the pillows and after tearing off the bottom sheet, discovered blood spots everywhere! Sure enough, we were both covered in bites. UGH!! We took the evidence to the front desk and checked out of the hotel. We had payed for 5 nights in advance and asked to be refunded for the two nights that we were not using. We were assured that "management" (and I use that term VERY loosely) would get back to us. Of course they did not. After repeated attempts to reach somebody who could help, I was told today by someone in "management" that the mysterious man in charge was only able to offer us a free night in one of those vermin infested rooms. It was almost comical until I glanced at the ferocious red bites in a ring all around my neck. In fact, the silly woman I spoke with today, said that she found no bedbugs in the room when she looked at it. WARNING: Stay away from this place. It is not worth the risk.

We stayed here for our yearly family vaction and rented 4 rooms. On Friday night I was staying in…read moreroom 103 and about midnight we were woke by water coming out of the bathroom ceiling light fixture. We were moved to room 209. The next day my family member in room 104 woke to water coming out of their bathroom ceiling light fixture, they were moved to room 107. That evening my room, 209, toilet overflowed and it started leaking into my family member's room, 108, bathroom light fixture. When we checked out we asked about compensation for all the trouble we had during our stay, just a discount on the rooms we didn't even ask for a free room, just something for having so many issues and we were told that the issues were not their fault. I asked for the owner to call me back and was told I would be called back that day (Sunday). I never received and call back so I called that evening and was told that she was told to let me know management had left for the day. I asked her again to leave a note for Eugene Taff to call me. I never received a call by noon on Monday so I called again and got the manage on duty. She told me that she was told by Eugene to not call me back and their would be no discount given for the issues we had. I am disgusted that someone would manage a business like this and be a coward to not face a problem and call a customer back. I have stayed at this hotel many of times and besides the nasty carpets have never had these kind of problems until now, I guess new owners. I will not ever stay at this hotel again. Room 103 is supposed to be non smoking but you can open the door and smell smoke. All the rooms we were in clearly had previous water issues which you could tell by the water damage and mold in them. I can't imagine that water coming out of a light fixture could be safe either. I hope you this review helps lead you to stay elsewhere so you do not experience the same issues and rudeness. Terrible customer service, I DO NOT RECOMMEND! If I could share my video of the water coming out of the ceiling I would but it doesn't allow me to share it here.
