I only came across Sacred Cafe because I was staying at the Strand Palace Hotel and they gave me a £15 voucher to use at their restaurants/cafes for booking directly with them. The cafe is located in the hotel's lobby but can be accessed from the street as well. Unfortunately, the voucher excluded English breakfast as well as non-coffee/tea beverages (why no juice!) so I ended up ordering one of their ready made sandwiches (£5.50), a fruit cup (£2.50), a poached salmon salad (£6), and a cafe latte (£3). I pretty much tried to use up my voucher. Can you blame me?!
Anyways, the chicken, brie, and cranberry sandwich I got was delicious. They also toast it for you, which made it even tastier. The fruit cup and the cafe latte were as expected. However, the biggest disappointment was the poached salmon salad. I didn't even finish it because it was just bland bland bland. Poached salmon...I know...that's my own fault. I wanted something healthy, but honestly, I could barely finish the salmon. I didn't even bother eating the broccoli and the quinoa. They didn't seem fresh. The yam was the only thing that had any real flavor.
Overall, minus the salmon salad, I liked this cafe. Laidback ambiance and a great place to read or do some work. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come here, but if I was staying at the Strand Hotel again, it's a nice place to start your day. read more
