I went to Kathryn on a strong recommendation and as promised, she changed everything about my body. Especially my relationship to my body, which I was worried was breaking down and never going to heal. I am so thankful I found Kathryn. I actually noticed a difference in my posture after our very first rolfing session. Being a child of the 60's/70's I am aware of the mind body connection. I had forgotten most of what I knew and was moving thru life slightly unconscious and in varying degrees of pain both physical and spiritual. Today, I am going for my 11th and final rolfing session with Kathryn. Typically, it's 10 sessions, but we took an extra session somewhere in there due to my sensitivity to a certain area of my body--that's what is so great about doing bodywork with Kathryn. She really works with every client as a unique individual and figures out where you need more time, etc. I first went to Kathryn for CranialSacral therapy last year which I had never heard of until an astrologer (!) mentioned it might be good for me. I dis research and ended up taking a chance and it was seriously a wonderful experience (and so different from rolfing which shows how varied in technique Kathryn is) and honestly, as a creative writer--inspired me to sit at the coffee shop next door and freewrite/journal for about an hour afterward. What kind of bodywork immediately makes you feel free to be creative and write? Sacred Knots! Kathryn has also used sound healing in her approach to helping my body/mind. I love her interdisciplinary approach to bodywork. I originally went to Sacred Knots for neck pain (the Cranialsacral therapy helped) and then came back to work on feeling more comfortable in my own skin (rolfing). I have noticed not only a difference in the way I feel, but in the way I look. Others have noticed it too. Since rolfing, people have asked me if I've lost weight or told me I just "look" like I have more confidence. I try not to weigh myself, but I do feel more at peace in my own body and the way I move around in the world. It's a great feeling. I also feel more inclined to be active and exercise. When I first went to Kathryn, I complained about feeling this "heaviness" that I don't feel so much of anymore. Rolfing has a reputation for being painful, but honestly, it's just that so many of us aren't used to having certain areas of our body worked on so intensely (my underarms for instance!) so I think it's more of getting used to certain sensations rather than actual pain. I've really learned so much about my body and Kathryn always gives me tips about posture (as well as good book and documentary film recommendations!) which makes it really feel like a holisitic experience and not just like you're paying for an hour so that's all you get. I heard about rolfing through a friend with a knee injury from rugby. Rolfing allowed my friend to to play her sport again. I used rolfing for something completely different. Whatever your reasons, I think Kathryn is extremely professional and kind and will work with you on your specific body/mind needs. Highly recommended! read more

I have really enjoyed my sessions with Kathryn. I started seeing her almost a year ago. She is very passionate about health, healing, and teaching you ways you can maximize the benefits of her treatments. Her goal is genuinely to help you heal. I was used to fascia work before we met because I had been treated by an osteopath for over a year previously. I knew it could be intense at times, but only briefly, and it was worth it. I arrived in Kathryn's care a few months after a 3 level artificial disc replacement surgery in my cervical spine. I was almost 2 years into major spinal injuries from a bad car accident and I still had/have 2 lumbar discs that are real bad. We knew I was going to be a challenge, but she still did incredible things for Me over the series of 10 sessions. It did wonders to release tissue that had been tightly wound for years. I love that Kathryn has spent many years learning multiple healing modalities. She has the ability to incorporate other things like cranial sacral therapy and sound healing which sometimes encouraged parts of my muscles to relax more easily. I found Kathryn and her practice in July 2010 when I was looking for craniosacral treatment to help me with emotional and energetic blocks in my first pregnancy. I was immediately taken by a quote on her homepage: "And then the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom." -Anais Nin Just as the quote is perfectly apt for my situation, so is Kathryn and her myriad skills and techniques in healing. Although I originally came for cranio sacral, she has used a variety of her methods to help me along on this journey of pregnancy. Sound healing, somatic experiencing, rolfing, visualization, breathing techniques, and good old fashioned listening, tenderness and care. Kathryn is truly a dedicated and powerful healer and help. I have also been in the care of a psychologist and even a psychiatrist- neither of which I had need for prior to my pregnancy- but neither has been as helpful to me. Kathryn draws on a vast knowledge base, continuing education (she is often off to Esalen for fresh courses!), and a very strong intuition and sensitivity (both in her physical and emotional touch) to create a personalized program to improve your mind/body health. I am extremely grateful for the work she has done with me and plan to continue to work with her through the end of my pregnancy and well beyond. Kathyrn is absolutely hands down one of the best body workers I've been to. I had a visceral release session with sound healing and cranial sacral therapy and while lying there, I felt such a pure, peaceful bliss. On my way out, I felt like I was soaring while still grounded. It's an incredible feeling. I am looking forward to another appointment with her. Kathryn Pallakoff of Sacred Knots is excellent and her rolfing treatments have changed my life. Kathryn is an expert in Rolf Structural Integration. I had never been to a rolfer and frankly, knew nothing about it. Now in my forties, I decided it was time to really focus on my body.
