The Christmas spectacular is a fun event for all and the family. Starts at five and they have a list of things that happen all the way through 9 o'clock. Last year we went to the play and came out just in time for the light show and snow. This year we went way early got to do all the activities. Pictures with Santa, Make s'mores, get cotton candy, gingerbread houses, and watch the Christmas Carol. Special note, if you just wanna do the activities go early there wasn't any line but at 7 o'clock that's when everybody was piling in and the lines were around the corner. If you wanna watch the movie, make sure you bring a blanket pillows and things like that it is on the grass. This event is free, and so special. Everyone's super friendly there is an MC and live music. The Christmas play is adorable and is a messy that is not free. You have to buy tickets for that. this event is dog friendly read more

Having the experience of attending an all-girls school seems like it was during another lifetime. Like any other experience there were good times & bad times. However, what's always been consistent with my attitude, feelings, and opinion of Sacred Hearts Academy; was that the sisters, teachers, and strong morals I was taught (and emphasized by my fam) has stayed with me over the years. I've been able to maintain my integrity that I've learned and polished as the years have come and gone. So the big reason I'm giving this a four stars is because of the elementary education I received as a youngin. In the later years I was ready to move on to a different school. I no longer felt that Sacred Hearts was the right fit for me. Previously on LOST ... We stopped by here because they used this location to film on the TV show Lost They filmed the last episode, titled, "The End" at the church that's connected to the academy. It wasn't opened, but we walked around the grounds and took photos. In the episode, Jack is reunited with his friends inside the church and sat with Kate at a pew, Christian emerged and briefly touched his son on the shoulder. He then opened the church's doors, allowing a bright light to embrace all those present as they crossed over to the next stage in their afterlives. I did sixth grade here--it was a crazy all-girl, all-religion nightmare. I didn't learn much except (1) how annoying a 9-piece uniform is to put on; (2) playing the flute is unbelievably lame; and (3) "Mean Girls" is not just a Hollywood movie. I never hiked up my skirt, so I didn't fit in with the hoochies. I never finished 60 multiplication problems in 60 seconds, so I didn't fit in with the nerds. It didn't help that I was a huge dork at 11 complete with adolescent acne and nearsightedness. Sacred Hearts was such an uncomfortable experience that I don't really like to talk about it. The best thing here was lunch. I came from public school and mass-produced mashed potatoes, so baked potatoes with all the fixings were a major upgrade. I didn't like the dilapidated amphitheater, the nonexistent playground, the lack of boys (to diffuse the estrogen-created tension), or anything not food-related here. Mandatory mass was so boring I remember it until this day--it's not that I'm secular but mass felt like a 2-hour brainwashing session. I cried a river for my parents to put me in public school after that year. YES, I begged to enter the Hawaii public school system (ranked second to LAST in the nation) because Sacred Hearts was that traumatic. And you know what? I've never regretted it once since. read more

I attended here for 5 years I highly suggest sending your daughters here. My aunt, my niece and I attend/attended SHA. This is a great school it has shaped me to be the strong independent woman I am today. Sure their maybe horror stories of the "Bad apples" but all schools have that. I was fortunate to develop from one of these horrible bad apples to one of well thought of students that the faculty members will never forget. I never hiked up my skirt or was one of the slutty girls or druggy girls, I was the creepy basket case that turned into the weird girl that everyone liked having around including the teachers. 8th grade- solitary basket case had detention every week and spent majority of time in Deans office. Below Avg GPA. 9th grade- slight artsy chior weirdo, air and small bore riflery, less time in detention and less time spent in Deans but more in consolors office. Suspended for 2 days, Avg GPA. 10th grade- chior section leader, guitar club president, computer techie, air riflery shooter, track star, Honors GPA. No time in detention, deans office, just counselling. 11th grade- band fanatic, drumline, glee club, guitar club president, involved member of 2/3 of every club, no detention, no counselling, Honors GPA. 12th grade- band and choir fanatic, drumline, member of every club give or take 3-4, president of guitar club, varsity sailing team, and Honors GPA. If you want to do good send your daughters here for the great environment, teachers, education, and traditions. The only bad thing I have to say about SHA is their isn't student parking and that yeah the uniforms are a pain but eh it's tradition. read more

DO NOT SEND YOUR DAUGHTER HERE. I will admit the school definitely meets state standards academically. The teachers are very rigorous and diligent so it's safe to say they are providing good education to children. The admin and Staff however are incompetent beyond what I can with my vocabulary describe. My eldest daughter experienced bullying while attending. the staff did not only not take any action to lessen the bullying but they enabled it. My youngest daughter, it breaks my heart to say this, was clinically depressed. Recently she has revealed to me the incompetence of the staff in regards to handling this. She had told a counselor that she was suicidal on multiple occasions. The counselor did not follow state law and report this to me. I was unable to get my daughter the help she needed because of this. My daughter also told me that she believed I would have an apathetic response to her confession because the counselor responded that way and she felt that all adults would be the same. My youngest often confided in this counselor and she failed to help her seek the therapy which could have possibly been of significant benefit. This school, while academically rigorous does not have a positive learning environment needed for "Girls to Soar". My daughters are both attending university now. The oldest has told me she is still feeling anxiety and other such things as a result of the bullying from other students. My heart breaks because of the experience my daughters had and I am appalled at the staffs incompetence and even willful negligence in regards to their treatment. If you care about the mental well being of your daughters I suggest you send them to another school. This statement especially applies if your daughter has any special needs or if they may need additional accommodations. read more

One of the best teachers I've met was at this schools and there were a few I absolutely appreciate and I've learned a lot from all 4 of them. Sadly they all quit and left the academy before I could say good bye. My niece went here and got accepted to many of the top colleges. She chose Oregon University and just recently graduated and is moving on and starting a family and her own company. Besides that, here's a PSA- Don't send your kids here unless you want them diagnosed with ptsd and substance abuse problems. Thankfully my niece quickly recovered after 4 years of dealing with issues. Talk about peer pressure Overall I can say I don't highly recommend this school. I only have one major con to report about Sacred Hearts, however, I find this con to be so offensive that it is the reason that they are not receiving a 5-star review. Majority of the high school teachers are female, but the are a few male teachers. In my 7 years at Sacred Hearts, it became very clear to me that many of the male teachers favor prettier students. Where this "favoring of students" comes into play is in the teachers' general attitude toward the students. Some teachers are more friendly and playful/flirty with pretty students. One teacher would constantly tell my classmate how pretty she was. Another would blatantly flirt with the students (he left recently though.) Sacred Hearts is very committed to empowering young women, so I can't understand why Sacred Hearts would allow male teachers to treat their students this way. In fact, experience with this has only served as more proof to me that success as a woman, while not impossible as an average woman, will be much easier to achieve if you have a pretty face. read more

I'm here for my daughters may day program today & happened to look @ some of the reviews. I was COMPELLED to write a review although I never do. I am a proud product of sacred hearts academy (dont let the use of improper spelling fool you...that's a product of texting!) My experiences were much different than other reviews, I was well liked, I was not a hoochie, got good grades, & made the best of my experience @ this school. I also had a wonderfully supportive family, which made a difference in my perseverance and resolve to do well. I am very proud to be have had the opportunity to attend sha. & I'm glad to give that to my daughters. I am successful, in part to my experience here. OMG I can't believe some of the stuff I've read on here. FWIW my cousins, sisters, daughter and I all attended and graduated from SHA. My classmates and I are in all walks of life, from well respected professions, well named college graduates to housewives. I see my cousins, sisters and daughter along with their friends doing well in life. Yeah there were ups and downs with all schools. I am sure some people had bad experiences, but that can happen in any school with any person. My son's public school experience was a nightmare. He got assaulted (a punch in the face), and while he is no angel, not one of the teachers or staff called me to let me know what was going on. Of course the student that punched my son got all the attention. I found out quite by accident and not from the school. He was outa there faster than their heads could spin. I am sure therapists offices are lined up with kids from all walks of life, and seriously if your daughter had problems and you didn't pull her out sooner...... Yeah it can be crazy going to an all girl school but I know its just as crazy out there in COED schools. But the focus was on education, not on what you were or weren't wearing or what boy was or was not paying attention to you. I would suggest you see for yourself if its a good fit for your daughter, I am sure its not a place for everyone and that's ok. They have a well rounded curriculum where girls can excel in male dominated subjects. And yes, no matter what we said while going there, many of us send our daughters and granddaughters there.. my granddaughter will go there and she is happy about it. read more

I have been sending my kids here for years. The positive comments are true and all the negative comments on here is also true. Here if your daughter is not liked staff and students do pick on them. They have their favorites and it shows. Why I still send them because no matter how angry the school makes me. My kids still wants to stay. They block all the bad and only keep the good. No matter how good you are at something if the teachers dont like you they will never pick you for any event like Mrs. Eubanks for example for some reason she dislikes my family and no matter how hard my daughter tries Mrs Eubanks always come up with an excuse for my daughter not to participate. When i tell my daughter i wont send her back next year. She tells me i know Mrs Eubanks dont like me but its okay i'll just keep on swimming and continue to stay here at SHA. Its truely sad that they have favorites and it's truly sad that they complain that the school has no money yet they raise tuition every year. Does not give multiple keiki discount has no banquet or winterballs etc. because they claim they have no money. They used to have great food until they hired sodexo. My kids now wont even eat lunch. Some students got food poisoning so they are afraid to eat there. That school is going down. Too bad. I can go on and on but I wont. read more

Oh I just must. Reading the two reviews about SHA on here made me want to share my point of view. I went to Catholic school all my life. I was super-uber shy from like birth. People didn't think I spoke because I was sooo shy. K-8 I went co-ed. I really think they taught me to stand up for myself being so shy. SHA was all girls. I think I was a little weary at first but all my other friends were going to St. Francis and I wanted to be different so I went to SHA. Yah it was all girls. Yes there was an all BOY school down the road. Yes you didn't have to choose what to wear in the morning and you got to look like Sailor Moon everyday. Yes I went through a phase of hiking up my skirt and sagging my skirt. Yes I loved going to school not caring how I looked. Yes I got kicked out of school dances for vulgar dancing. Yes I was less shy and gained more confidence to speak/express myself/blah-blah. And yes - there was an everlasting flow of PMS throughout the campus. I was pretty fond and proud of my school. I pretty much got along with everyone, pretty much got along with most of the cliques, nerds, mokes, athletes, military kids, and so on. I have nothing bad to say about it. A good school. My daughter is one of the JK students there. She loves it! We went through couple schools before and this is the best one. The communication to parents is excellent. The class room is clean... Kids have Ipad to play/study... The bigger & older students help out & play with the little ones. .. honestly... i graduated from that school and it's not a whore producer. yes there may be a couple of those girls with that type of reputation, but seriously ALL PRIVATE SCHOOLS have some rotten eggs. After reading these reviews, I felt like I needed to write my own. My sister and I both attended SHA for 13 years. Yes we started in kindergarten. We had an incredible education. The teachers were great, the discipline kept us on track and the education was hard to beat. During our 13 years, I was an athlete and had the opportunity to play softball, basketball and volleyball where I excelled. My sister was a cheerleader and became homecoming queen for Damien Highschool. The foundation that SHA has given to me will never be taken away. It also gave us the opportunity to go away to college, obtain graduate degrees, and now have nice good paying jobs here on Oahu. I love the school, staff and uniform enough to send my 2 children there. I am proud to be a SHA graduate. read more

This school will not provide educational accommodation for girls that suffer from ADHD not on medication. After 4 years at this school, my daughter was diagnosed with ADHD mid-year. The school was unable to provide any accommodations. The 5th grade teachers were a big part of the problem. Finally, after many Emails and meetings, the Lower school principal told me I need to put my daughter on ADHD medicine. This is a great way to spend hard earned money. read more

When I was a child I only wished my parents gave me the opportunity to attend Sacred Hearts Academy. When I was blessed with two daughters I didn't have to make a decision. They were both accepted in kindergarden and graduated. They both went on to college on the mainland. They were not nerds and they were not boy crazy either. They were average kids. I'll tell you this the teachers went beyond there seven to three job. I believe it was the strong foundation of Sacred Hearts Academy that made my daughters the women they are today. They both have professional positions. Yes they did go to college but I believe it was the strong foundation of Sacred Hearts Academy. read more
