Had a late impromptu drive to our daughters in Durham to help her out with an issue and grabbed dinner from this place. She had never heard of it even though she's been in the area for several years but the food and service were exceptional. Again I really love places where the employees go out of their way to be friendly and helpful and this place did not disappoint. We ordered the taco box family meal and I wasn't really sure what to expect but it came with several different sides and three proteins and tortilla chips and tortillas and we ordered extra churros and some queso dip. When I got to the restaurant to pick it up I'm sure the look on my face was quite hysterical because when I first saw the size of the box that I was taking home I thought it was enough food for about 50 people. All of it tasted like it was very fresh and it was very warm the tortillas were definitely housemade and everything was really good. As a bonus they have a salsa bar where you can try about six different types of salsa that they make. The food here was as good as any Latin restaurant that you would sit down in but it was very convenient to just be able to run up there and pick it up and bring it back to my daughter's apartment. I know she will definitely visit this place again because it's only a few miles from where she lives.

No wonder this restaurant has 600 reviews and a nearly perfect score. We stopped by and we're assisted by Andreas. His service was impeccable, the way he greeted us was one that made us feel welcome and his assistance while navigating the menu was extremely helpful. It was our first time so we didn't know what to expect. He gave suggestions as well as told us all about the business. The way he engaged with us. You think he was the owner. After eating, he came over and brought games for the kids to play and made them feel right at home. We look forward to coming back and supporting this business. If the owner reads this message, though you have an amazing team, and Andreas is at the head of it doing great work at the front counter.

Can't find any fault and I'm definitely a picky person. The food was great, the serving sizes were pretty good. The service was super super nice and attentive even though it's a counter order system. Clean tables and the margs were great for $6?! Can't beat that. I have an empanada with chicken and chips and a coconut tajin marg and a strawberry marg. Both were good and didn't skimp on the alcohol but not overwhelmingly alcoholic. Really enjoyed the visit!

I was on the way to my favorite coffee shop for a sandwich and some writing, but passed SABOR and thought "Why not?" When you enter, the counter to order is straight ahead, with a case of beers and specialty drinks behind the glass. I chose a bottle of XX Amber. There are about ten 4-top tables and booths set up in a random pattern. To the right there is a salsa bar and a soft drink machine. It is very clean, with no trash on floors or tables. On this Monday late afternoon, I was one of three groups, so it was pretty quiet. They have a very extensive menu and can make pretty much anything you want with Latin flavors - bowls, arepas, tacos, burritos, whatever. I got the elote and their quesobirria, which is two tacos de birria with cheese griddled inside. The tacos were served with a cup of birria chili sauce, which had plenty of chunks and flavor. Dipping the fresh corn tacos into the sauce and enjoying all the deep flavor was amazing. Two for $10. The elote was nicely done and very good, but it didn't taste grilled. It was served with the corn sweet and the toppings thick, but it tasted like the corn was just steamed or boiled, not charred on a grill. $5 Altogether with tip, it was just over $20. I left very full, but it seemed like a lot for the money. Or maybe I just was still irritated about the corn not being grilled. I'm sure I'll be back. Wish they had WiFi so I could work here with a beer and nachos.

Went here multiple times for their Taco Tuesday special (discounted basic tacos) but their more special, more loaded tacos are more satisfying. The regular beef taco we had was bland; we tasted better quality ones from a taco truck that serves this kind of taco. In out latest, when we went to order, the El Salvadorian cashier was energetically friendly, and answered my girl's questions well. We ordered 5 tacos in total (4 regular beef, and the more special $4 Shrimp), a shredded beef empanada, and chips. They have a self-serve salsa bar similar to Moe's with 5 different salsas, placed from mild to spiciest, and we usually get some of the first 3. There were a couple of times where they ran out of 1 of them, and had to ask. While one instance was positive as the employee got some for us from the back, the other instance was disappointing as they said that they're completely out. They serve the food to our table, bringing the round metal trays with disposable sheets. We were disappointed with the overall quality of beef tacos - beef lacked spice. Tortilla was thick as the beef tacos we ordered from a taco truck but despite the similar cost, Sabor's version lacks the "sabor" we crave for. The higher-end Shrimp taco was better and probably pairs well with a Mexican beer. Their nachos are well-seasoned and fresh, one of the best we've tried, even better than Chipotle's or Taco Bell's. Restaurant quality and goes well with queso and salsa. They also have more special nachos with more toppings. We ordered them before and they're large enough to share with a small group and perfect for mini get-togethers with beer. Tried their queso a few times before - it was alright. Barbacoa (shredded beef) empanada was crispy and delicious, larger than Makus' tiny empanadas. It comes with a special mayo sauce which we didn't really enjoy. The empanada is one of their better items. The food here is more Latin Southern American than Mexican. Other than their tacos, they have a great variety of street style Latin foods like plantains, Salvador fries, taco bowls, burritos, and quesadillas. I would not recommend the burritos - tried once and never tried again, but quesadillas are not bad. My girl enjoyed the plantains which come with cheese and sour cream. Our first few experiences here were more pleasant than our more recent ones. It's in an accessible location, close to South Point mall, in a prime corner of 1 of the 2 shopping centers facing each other, right across a City BBQ and near Shiki Sushi & Milklab. Sabor's ambiance and space somewhat feel like Waffle House's - clear windows and simple layout, fine for a fast food taco place like this. Overall, we have mixed feelings about Sabor. It's definitely better than Taco bell; its menu is more interesting and more diverse than Moe's but their basic beef tacos should be at least as good or better than what you can get from a taco truck. If you enjoy nachos, quesadillas, plantains, and El Salvadorian fries, this place won't disappoint. Sabor's Chimi Shrimp taco is probably the best taco here; the others are questionable. Tried the fish taco once and as a fish taco lover, I was disappointed. Nonetheless, with its salsa bar and friendly staff, Sabor's street style experience is worth trying with a bottle of beer. It's not our #1 choice if we're craving for Mexican but it's not a lackluster place for casual dining, and looks mostly fairly-priced for the amount. Overall score: 3.5/5 based on our most recent visits.

Located in a strip mall with plenty of parking. Small location not many tables but not super busy when we visited for a late lunch. Also maybe they have a lot of to go orders? Ordered arepa (chicken), empanadas (chicken, beef chorizo and barbacoa), Gordita (al pastor) and plantains. Everything was made to order, hot and fresh and tasted great. Good flavor. The plantains were awesome thick cut and sweet.. Highly recommend this place and when I am back in NC I'll return for sure. Staff/service was fast and friendly

Nice spot. Food was prepared quick. Lots of choices. Food was reasonably priced. Really enjoyed the sauces!

    Taco salad

The food here is always excellent and Carolina who assisted me was super nice! If you are looking for really good Latin food for a reasonable price that is fast, come here! I had the taco salad with chorizo pork and it was delicious! They also feature a sauce bar with a variety of flavors and heat levels.

Casual spot with affordable entree and drink combos. My husband loves the empanadas. I had the chicken tortilla soup and it was ok. They have seating inside and the service has always been great. Sign up for their rewards program and accumulate points.

Came here after the Durham Farmers Market with a friend and wow this place was a surprise. …read more I went with the grain bowl and honestly it is one of the best I have had in downtown Durham. It is built on quinoa and rice with black beans and kale, then layered with corn salsa, tomato cortido, guacamole, and a creamy acevichado style sauce that pulls everything together. It is finished with a crunchy mix of pepitas, nuts, and grains. The balance is quite ideal in my view. My friend had the rotisserie chicken with two sides, kale and slaw, and it was just as impressive. Crispy skin, juicy inside, and really clean flavors. Simple food done right and GF friendly. Everything felt thoughtfully prepared. Prices land right where you would expect for the quality, roughly 16 to 21 dollars depending on what you order, and it feels worth it. My bowl plus side of dark chicken was plenty. A few notes. Parking is what you would expect for downtown, so plan accordingly. Service was solid and friendly, but nothing that stood out. The vibe inside is festive and relaxed, bright and open, and just a fun place to hang out for lunch. Porbably not a special occasion. I also suspect it could get loud when full. This is definitely going into my regular rotation. That grain bowl is going to be hard to pass up next time, so instead of replacing it I will probably just add a side or an empanada and start working my way through the rest of the menu.

This place was amazing. We tried both the brisket and chicken sandwich, and they did not…read moredisappoint. We also shared a potato empanada that was recommended by another customer, which was also fantastic. The yuca fries and plantains were delicious. You also get a large amount of food for the price, definitely left us feeling satiated. Staff was very friendly, we will be back!
