Order: Tampiquena The Carne Asada and potatoes were over seasoned with SEASONED SALT both on the meat and potatoes and the plate. Talk about overkill. The enchilada was nothing spectacular either for the reason there was NO real savory taste to the enchilada sauce. Note: The meal comes with rice and beans SO when you say all rice doesn't that always mean double rice???? Not for this place. BTW the serving of rice and beans was something to laugh at, a child's portion. Order: Chicharron En Salsa Verde This meal was better. The service was okay because when you are given whole beans in their juice shouldn't you be given a spoon? Not here and you have to ask for napkins because you are given 1 each. No ice with the water which the server should have asked and not assumed ice is not wanted since the water was not really cold! And for the beer, it was NOT cold either and when asked if the beer was really cold before ordered the server replied it's in the refrigerator. I can't wait until I have the chance to dine in. I went in today and noticed they redid the inside of the restaurant and it looks great!! Superrr cute!! I love when a restaurant thinks outside the box when decorating and doesn't do typical restaurant decor. I've ordered the albondigas several times and each time I have loved it!!! The flavor is so good and you get a good amount of veggies and meatballs. My kiddo is weirdly not a fan of Mexican food but he loves the bean and cheese burritos from here. I recently ordered the red pozole and was a little worried because ya never know but it was delish!! And you actually get nice big chunks of meat in it! I just had my daughters Quince got their catering service all seemed well. Until the last 20 minutes off service when they ran out of plates and charged me an extra 18 dollars per plate. Which at the time of the party you just don't want to make a scene and I told them to keep serving if they still could. But my question is your leaving me the left over food I have plates why are you charging me I even took out more forks for you. Why would the person in charge not just tell me here is your left over food we served the plates we had, bye I had my own service to serve the left over instead they look to make more money out of you. Yum...that may be the easiest way to describe our food experience from Sabor de Mexico. After reading the positive Yelp reviews for this restaurant we decided to place a Postmates order on a Sunday for some pozole. The reviews spoke of the home made chips and the tasty salsa. They were right. The salsa was somewhat unique in flavor and with just the right amount of spice. As for the chips, they were crispy and not overly oily, very good. The pozole was delivered warm with a good meat to hominy ratio. We truly enjoyed the broth/ soup flavor as it was different yet very good. It was perfect for a Sunday morning. This hole in the wall is one great authentic Mexican restaurant. My husband and I were very surprised that no one was sitting down/dining. A few people were taking to go orders. Walking (or driving) around La Puente, you'll see there is no shortage of Mexican restaurants. Seriously, there are so many to choose from within a two mile radius. Well, if you're looking for some home cooked type of Mexican food, I'll save you the time of trying to decide by suggesting you go straight to Sabor de Mexico. I mean, the authentic taste is in the name of the restaurant (Taste of Mexico for those who need translation). Anyway, I've stopped in more than a handful of times and I've got to say, not once was the server or waitstaff rude and not once was I ever not satisfied with my food. Breakfast, lunch, dinner; it doesn't matter because the food is always delicious here. One of my favorites is the cheese enchiladas. Man oh man, these things are packed with cheese and the green sauce is just tart enough to give them plenty of character. The red sauce is equally as good, though a little more on the spicy than tart side. In the past, I've asked them to add an over easy egg on top of the enchiladas for breakfast (which they've gladly done) to make this one of my all time favorite Mexican breakfast spots. For lunch, my favorites are the Super and California burrito. Boy, are these some hefty burritos! The best part is, the seasoned meat really shines through the lettuce, sour cream, guacamole, etc. in the burrito. These burritos (the California basically adds french fries to it) are truly a delight to devour. I love stopping in whenever I'm in the area. read more
