Where do I begin... I came to John Mendy to represent me as plaintiff in a basic breach of contract…read morefor a business (real estate) matter. He seemed easy going and confident in the case and how to handle the matter when I met with him so when it came time to retain him I did so with little 2nd thought. Boy was that a mistake! His rate was modest at $250 per hour but I quickly came to realize that an hour for John is about 10 minutes for a competent attorney. I literally had to answer the same questions 2 and 3 times over the course of a few days. He would text me at random hours to ask me things I explained to him very clearly in our sit down meeting. When he realized he still was not understanding certain facts about the case he called me in for another meeting. In this follow up meeting I rehashed more of what I already told him as he spent the majority of the time telling me anecdotes about past cases totally unrelated to mine. He did all this as he sat at his desk sucking on chicken wing bones over approximately 30 minutes... It was not a pleasant sight. I kept thinking to myself how did I get here! You may think at this point I would have decided to cut my losses and find a professional attorney to work with, but no I thought twice this time but decided to ride things out with John and let him deplete the retainer and at that point I would move on. My experience with John only got worse. I will simply spark notes the top 5 memorable things John Mendy did during the brief time I hired him to represent me: - He speaks of himself in the 3rd person. On multiple occasions he told me "John Mendy this or John Mandy that". - He was especially boastful at his "skills" in the courtroom. So much so that his efforts were not at all focused on settling the case, rather taking things the distance to the court and running up his bill. - He does not utilize technology besides his phone, which he texts with. I could not email him files. He needed everything printed in extra large format and personally brought to him. - He has a temper and became angry and questioned my dedication to him when I could not meet with him on short notice to discuss my case. - He spreads himself too thin and will take on any case that comes to him whether it be criminal or civil. Instead of focusing on one area of the law and perfecting it he tries to be a "jack of all trades" John Mendy proved to me beyond the shadow of any doubt that he is not only not a competent civil attorney but based on my experience with him if he were the last attorney on earth and I were in trouble criminally i would hands down choose to defend myself.

Bagia and Associates was our second attempt at securing a green card for my husband. The first…read morelawyer we used, who was recommended to us and had over 30 years experience so we thought we were in good hands, had failed us. We were told we had a hard case by our first lawyer and that most likely we would not be approved the first time and would have to hope to get approved when USCIS would ask for more information. Well when that happened and USCIS requested more information to support our case, our first lawyer gave us no guidance. He really didnt know what other information we could give them that would win our case. I was on my own to try to come up with more material. Well considering I am not an immigration lawyer, I really did not know what to give them but I tried the best that I could, our lawyer telling us that what we had was "ok" but not able to give us more guidance of what would be better. Unfortunately, our waiver was denied (not really that surprising). My husband and I were unsure whether we should try again with this lawyer, another lawyer, or just give up. Our lawyer wanted us to try again with him.We did not feel good about using this lawyer, but wanted to find out if anyone could do better, or is our case really too difficult to win? I had phone consultations with two other lawyers who told me yes our case was difficult and our lawyer did everything he could and they could not do better. This was unsettling. A friend of my husband's told us about Jay Bagia, saying he was the best and had won their case easily and the process required very little work on their part, everything was handled. So we decided to get a consultation from Jay. Our consultation was over an hour long, very detailed and by far longer than our previous lawyer or the two phone consultations I had with other lawyers. That alone sold me. He assured us of their success rate of 98%, our previous lawyer's success rate was 90%. The entire team at Bagia handled our case so differently than our previous attorney. There was alot less work that we had to do on our part. We were told that our case again is more difficult than most, but not impossible, they were confident they would get our waiver approved. Not only was our waiver approved, but it was approved on the basis of what we originally submitted to USCIS. They did not ask us for ANY additional information. Not only were my husband and myself shocked that we were not requested to submit more information, but so was the law team! Totally amazing! We first met with Jay in Sept 2015. Our waiver application was submitted at the end of January 2016, and my husband came back over the border with his Visa on Dec 5th!
