Had been driving by this African market for a while and so excited to one day go in there. My boyfriend and I just so happened to pick up food from Vocellis which is a couple doors down and I thought what a nice chance to finally go in. I walk in, greet the owner and proceed to look at the drink as we did not buy any at Vocellis since I wanted to see if the African market had Alvaro, a very popular African malt drink. My boyfriend proceeds to go see if they have a bathroom to give me time to look around. The owner yells from the counter in the front if I need help finding something. I asked her if they sell Alvaro, which she answered 'no, do you have a picture?' I showed her a picture and she proceeds to rudely tell me they do not have a 'public restroom' and if that was the purpose of us coming there, WHICH WASN'T. I then called my boyfriend to come out of the restroom because the energy of the place turned me off from that point on, especially when I asked the lady where she's from to make conversation and she said Africa, so rude. Maybe she thought I'd never been to Africa, and little did she know I was married to a Ghanaian and been to Ghana 6 times. I'd been excited to visit for months and my first time experience was this one. SMH. We didn't even get to check out the rest of the store. The place was EMPTY, no customers. So why not treat the ONLY people in your store with respect. On top of the disrespect, I'm pregnant and was really craving Alvaro and wanted to get a few things like an African sponge and see if they have kebab pepper, but we just ended up leaving. I'd rather take my business to Kumasi Supermarket in Woodbridge where they are always welcoming and DO HAVE ALVARO. read more
