I remembered the misfortune of not checking here before I ordered. This time, I checked a handful and then came across the reviews for Royal Chicken & Gyro. 2018 is looking up! The yellow truck is one of the most nondescript food trucks I've seen in a while, and one of the best experiences I've had. As I walked up, a nice woman greeted me. She was very nice, as was the other woman in the truck. I then asked the first woman what the combo over rice was. She explained that it was chicken and gyro meat over rice. She then went on to explain that gyro was beef and lamb mixed together. Being a meat lover, I decided that is what I would have, but let me back up for a moment. I have a problem. I generally order the most expensive thing on the menu (food-wise and proportional for 1-2 people). I love seafood, weird food, and more importantly, really good food. Back to the review at hand...So, I order the most expensive thing on the menu: Chicken and Gyro over rice. It was $10. It comes with chick peas (if you want) and a salad in a recyclable clamshell divided container. I asked for no napkins/plasticware seeing as I have those in my office. Let me say that all of the food (save the salad) was cooked very well. It was all very flavorful. The tzatziki sauce is wonderful as was the hot sauce. The meats were bigger than bite size, but not too big, and tender. Really everything about this meal was great including the chick peas and even the salad dressing. I'm even not one for salad dressing usually. The rice was also a good complement to the great flavors of the meat. I would recommend going to this food truck if you see it. You will not be disappointed. I will definitely return here if I see that yellow Royal Chicken & Gyro truck again. At the moment, the menu is three pasties and a sausage roll. The pasties are $6.50 apiece and the sausage roll was a bit cheaper. Pasties are British savory turnover-type items. The cart offers a beef, a chicken curry, and a third one I don't remember, probably veg. And the sausage roll. They also have a basket of upscale potato chips, and probably some beverages (I didn't notice). The chicken curry was pretty good, definitely enormous, which is important for my $6.50. Though I'd rather pay $4 for one half that size, but maybe that's just me. The pastry crust was good, which is key - it wasn't heavy and it didn't break apart in my hands, either. Honestly, British food isn't usually "knock your socks off" amazing, and this is no exception. But these are authentic pasties, so that counts for something. The cart was run by two young guys, one in a "Pure Pasty" t-shirt and the other in a "Mind the Gap" t-shirt. Mr Mind the Gap politely informed me that I had mispronounced "pasty," and it should be "PAST-y, not PASTE-y." Which was on the line between friendly and rude, but a cute guy with a British accent can get away with a lot, right? So go for it, Mr Mind the Gap. Spread the gospel of PAST-y over Arlington.

Cheese Please is my favorite followed by Green Monster. I can't count on how many fingers and toes I've had the pizza at different farmer's markets! While the lines can get long 12:30pm, you only have to wait for 15 minutes. - Bun'd' Up (5/5): Delicious fried tofu and mushroom in squishy soft bao buns topped with microgreens, scallions, and a nice creamy aioli sauce. Light and tasty! - Taco Dirty To Me: Crispy battered cauliflower tempura tacos! - Taco Loco : Ginormous hearty burritos and refreshing Sandia watermelon juice! But from showcasing a well-rounded list of around 1000 beers annually including some exclusive brews in 50 taps, to having equipment like a temperature controlled tap system, side-pull taps for lagers, and a cask engine system for ales and ciders, it shows that they have features that many non-food court beer bars could only dream of! With it being Snallygaster weekend I was on cloud nine sipping and savoring a satisfying preview of the breweries that I'd be enjoying over the weekend. But I also enjoyed some of their regular harder to find brews while conversing and geeking out about good beers with the bartender. Another standout plus to the bar being in a food court that's very tech savvy was the ability to order from any restaurant in the court while sitting at the bar! We saw unique coffees (freshly made or bagged), incredible locally grown veggies, homemade dog treats, unique salsas and local organizations. GoDCgo had a table when we visited. We spun a wheel to win prizes. I won a bike lock. We sampled produce from a vendor. Someone else had yummy salsa. The shopping area is about one block. People were strolling with their dogs and kids. There aren't any crowds. I would guess that more vendors are added during the summer. Bring your own shopping bags.
