Saami Somi was one of my first stops the week I was in Philly and was right up there with my favorites. I'd never had Georgian food before. I talked with the staff member at the counter to guide my decisions. He was helpful in giving recommendations. The cheese boat is the star of the show. It came out looking amazing. It tasted equally as good as it looked. There's so many choices in RTM but Saami Somi should be up there near the top. Definitely recommend for trying something different and for carb and cheese lovers!

I have never had Georgian food before going to the Reading Terminal in Philly. It did not disappoint. We tried their original khachapuri, which is a hot bread dish with cheese in the middle. It was unique and delicious. This was a really nice place in the market because there was seating there so you could take a seat and eat it there. The employees were super friendly and helped us navigate a new food!

Delicious cheese boat. If you are a fan of fresh bread and cheese, don't hesitate, just get it. Very unique spice sprinkled on the top. It's yellow and very herby and earthy. Be prepare for a wait, 15-20 mins. They make it fresh.

AMAZING! It was my friend's and my first time having a cheeseboat and we went with the Red Shakahuka and a small Adjapsandali Amazing. None of the flavors were too overpowering. The bread WOW is the best we've ever seen used in a savory meal. We went around the time they just opened on a weekday morning. Service was kind and personal. I love the aesthetics and colors of everything even on their website. It was generally easy to navigate.

Food was amazing i went back the second day. The borodinsky cheese boat was very flavorful. I also tried a pear sweet fluffy treat and a focaccia bread. I'd go back to try more. Service was awesome. Highly recommend inside the Reading terminal market

The oxtail cheese boat was so delicious. A very rich dish! There was so much cheese and flavor. The oxtail was seasoned perfectly. My husband and I shared it. He also enjoyed it! The young lady explained the items on the menu and helped with recommendations. I wish we had a shop like this near me!

    Shakshuka egg boat

The Shakshuka egg boat was divine. I had it twice on our trip to Philly. Hot with gooey cheese and spicy sauce, it almost edged put my spouse's pastrami as the yummiest thing in Reading Terminal Market. Highly recommend.

We've been talking about going to Saami Somi for a while ... and with a recent gift card receipt to Reading Terminal, it was our sign to finally make it in. We visited on Juneteenth, which was a SUPER hot day so was a steaming cheese boat our best idea? Probably not. But was it worth it? 1,000% yes. While Reading Terminal was quite busy on the holiday, the Saami Somi had a very digestible line. Their spot in the Terminal is super cute and well decorated with fun prints, non-tacky neon signs, eclectic plants, and a bunch of unique merch. We loved exploring all the options while we were waiting to place our order. While Saami Somi does offer various options, we had our eyes set on the cheese boats, or khachapuri. To keep things simple, I went for the traditional with sunflower oil, and my husband spiced it up a little bit, opting for the shakshuka with garlic labneh. Both were INCREDIBLE. The creaminess of the cheese mixed with the savory egg and encased in the soft dough was so delightful and made for such memorable bites. I was partial to my classic dish, although my husband's with the extra spice and ingredients was also delicious. While they would be far more comforting and warming on a cold day, we enjoyed them so much even in the 90+ degree weather. We both finished ours without issue and without feeling too gross. We washed them down with a clementine soda and a N/A mojito, which paired nicely and were refreshing. The price was quite reasonable for the quality and the portion, and having the gift card was a nice bonus too. I would totally revisit Saami Somi to try more menu items, but it would be tough to stray from their khachapuri .... highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting Reading Terminal and looking for a more unique option than the classic Philly cheesesteak :)

I absolutely love this place. I really make it a habit to stop at this place when I'm visiting Philly. Their sourdough bread is delicious along with their Georgian cheese boats. I'll get whatever their special is. I also love their Georgian pear lemonade. It's light and refreshing. I just tried the tarragon lemonade. Not overly strong in tarragon flavor and also delicious. Service is wonderful as always. I usually order and walk around for a little since they make it fresh to order. And their little stall is the cutest with little Georgian decorations.

This was my second time having Georgian food and I'm hooked! It was very delicious and filled with lot of flavor. The person helping me was helpful and recommended getting the Shakshouka which was worth it! The drink was also very good and would get again next time.

Got the lamb and fig cheeseboat. Flavor wise it was pretty good and filling as well. I paid $22 for 1 Kachapuri (+ an 18% tip). You order at the counter and it is self service so you pick it up yourself. Considering they didn't have to serve me, not even a glass of water, I should not have tipped but oh well, old habits die hard. Note to self. I thought the whole experience + food was worth $12 at best. I will not be returning here.

This was a lovely experience. The bread especially was hot fresh and delicious. Many of the cheese boats have spicy stuff or you can add a spicy sauce... The only non spicy sauce is a lebneh which isn't in really my thing, do I got the plain cheeseboat. It has hot melted cheese that you mix an egg that's been cracked over into it. Delicious! But super rich. They also sell a bunch of imported goodies. Definitely a solid choice amongst all the other gems in the reading terminal market. The woman at the counter was also super helpful making sure we knew what was up when we were ordering.

Really unique food option. We had the traditional cheeseboat. Sourdough type bread with egg and cheese on top. Really interesting - crunchy bread, sour cheese (in a good way) with the egg yolk mixed in. Would definitely recommend if you want to try something different than traditional American breakfast options. They have some seating/bar top at their booth as well.

It looked like minced vegetables - beet, carrot, spinach - mixed into a thick spread and formed into little balls. Gorgeous presentation. The kihinkali - we chose mushroom soup - were delicious because who didn't love giant dumplings you eat with your hands? The kachipuri (cheese boat) was delicious. We also got chicken skewers, which came with some delicious sides. Bread with most dishes was great. Staff were kind about telling us how the food is usually eaten in Georgian culture. Service was friendly but not overbearing. I think this cuisine is best suited to a cold day. It's warm and comforting. The room is stylish and cozy but not cramped. Recommended for a date night or with friends you don't mind sharing food with.

We arrived and were informed they needed to keep to a strict 90 minute seating limit. We didn't think that would be a problem. We were quickly seated. It took a few minutes for a waiter to stop by, however, we knew exactly what we wanted, so quickly ordered the aforementioned bread, dumplings, and two entrees. It took 15ish minutes for the dumplings to arrive, however, they were made fresh and tasty. We were happy and catching up on our week so were not worried that we didn't see our server much. Then, the wrong dish arrived about 10 minutes later. I'm not quite sure which it was, but it was not the bread we ordered. No worries, the runner turn around to correct our order. On the way, our server heard, took the dish from the runner, took it back to our table, and informed us this was what we ordered. We explained again that we did not order the dish and reminded him we even pointed to the dish on the menu to ensure we got the right bread. After an eye roll and a lot of attitude, they took the wrong dish away and told us we'd get the right bread. 20ish minutes go by and we get our bread, with the yolk already broken, quickly followed by our entrees. We had time to eat, but basically were up to the limit and unable to order dessert. The table next to us ran into the same problem earlier and was told they couldn't even order dessert. At this point, the mood was damp, so we didn't even bother to ask, paid, and left. I honestly hate leaving a review like this one. However, I am still sort of in shock from the amount of attitude we received that I feel it was worth sharing. Maybe it was just a really busy day and a bit of stress. Regardless, I won't be recommending them.

From the moment you step inside, the ambiance wraps around you like a gentle welcome. Soft lighting, warm wood tones, and a subtle hum of conversation create an atmosphere that feels both intimate and effortlessly comfortable. It's the kind of space where you can settle in immediately, whether you're meeting a friend or savoring a quiet moment alone. The most recent time, I enjoyed the short bread sandwich--DELICIOUS horseradish cream. They have GREAT N/A drink options. I love their cheesecake. Staff members greet you with genuine warmth, offering thoughtful recommendations and an easy attentiveness that enhances the experience without intruding on it. There's a natural flow to the way they interact--always available when you need them, never hovering--and it reflects a team that clearly takes pride in making guests feel at home.
