I repeatedly asked whether my case was strong enough to pursue, and I was consistently reassured that it was. Based on that reassurance, I agreed to move forward. However, the outcome did not reflect the confidence that was initially communicated, and I was ultimately left in a difficult financial position. One of my biggest concerns was the lack of direct communication. Despite requesting to speak with the attorney handling my case, I never had the opportunity to do so. Instead, I was assigned a case manager who, in my experience, did not seem fully informed about the details or progress of my case. Overall, I feel that my expectations were not properly managed, and I wish there had been more transparency about the risks involved. I would encourage others to make sure they have direct access to their attorney and a clear understanding of potential outcomes before proceeding. I need to correct several points in your response because that was not my experience. At no point did I have a direct conversation with you where any of this was clearly explained. In fact, despite multiple requests to speak with the attorney handling my case, I was never given that opportunity. All communication was handled through a case manager, who, from my understanding, had very limited experience at the time and was not able to adequately answer my questions or explain the situation in detail. Before moving forward, I repeatedly asked whether this was a case worth pursuing, specifically because I could not afford to take on medical expenses without a reasonable expectation of recovery. I relied on the reassurance provided by your office. If this case was truly as limited as you are now stating, that should have been clearly and directly communicated to me by the attorney not relayed indirectly or left unclear. Instead, my case was taken on, I proceeded with treatment, and then the case was dropped shortly after, leaving me in a difficult financial position. To make matters worse, I was not even properly notified that my case had been dropped. For something this serious, that level of communication is unacceptable. That financial impact may not seem significant from your perspective, but for an everyday person, it absolutely is. This is exactly why I asked those questions upfront. This experience reflects a lack of direct communication and transparency, which is the main issue I raised in my original review.

Despite the change in firms, I experienced the same pattern: unanswered calls and messages, no meaningful updates, and no clear explanation of the status of my case. As a client, I have a reasonable expectation of timely communication, transparency, and diligence none of which have been provided. This matter has now spanned several years, and being repeatedly ignored has caused unnecessary stress and concern about whether my case is being properly handled. An attorney has an ethical obligation to keep clients informed and to act with reasonable promptness. In my experience, those obligations were not met. I strongly advise anyone considering this firm to get all communication expectations in writing and to keep detailed records. If communication and representation standards are not upheld, remember that filing a complaint with the State Bar is an available and appropriate course of action. I will be filing a bar complaint myself.

I tried. I thought maybe this firm might assist me with my butchered worker's comp case. I spoke with Artin Sookasian on the phone and explained my butchered worker's comp case to him and he told me to come in and meet with him. I made an appointment and met with Arbie and then Artin stepped in for a brief moment at the end. I really felt good about both of these gentleman. They said they would consider the case and get back to me. I told them I was not ready to hire someone just yet so yes, let's both consider it. Since I hadn't heard from them I called them a little time after. I spoke with Arbie and he said no decision had been made. No problem, I said, I am still cleaning up the case (I'm pro per) and maybe it's not even a good time yet for an attorney to step in yet. Some time later I called to give an update and check in. Arbie was not available so I left a message. He did not return that call. I called again about a week later (days? I don't know) and spoke with him. He apologized for not returning my call and told me they still hadn't made a decision. No problem. Again, maybe the timing is not right yet. This is all over the course of months. Some time later, I call again and Arbie is not available. I leave a message. I do not receive a call back. I call again a week or so later (brain injury... I have little sense of time) but I believe it was a week or so later. It could have been a month. I don't know. I tell Arbie on his voicemail that I am not interpreting his lack of response as disinterest. I do not receive a call back. Weeks (?) pass. A week? I don't know. I hear nothing. Today I tried to call today to with Artin Sookasian. I think maybe if I go straight to the source of who is making the decision, I will get a definitive answer. Yes or no. I want the answer to be yes. I want someone to assist me. But either way, I am tired of not knowing. The receptionist informs me that Mr. Sookasian is not available and I can leave a message. She transfers me to his voicemail. Which is...Full. Huh? No. Forget it. I'm done. I tried. I tried. An attorney who's voicemail is Full? No. I don't even want that. I have been trying to force my butchered case unto a firm that i realize now that is not even a good fit. Clearly. An attorney who cannot even keep me informed on if he will make a decision, when he will make a decision, if he has already made a decision? I mean, that would be the kind of treatment and access I could expect from this firm. They are probably a good firm for some people but like many many attorneys, if my case could not benefit them in a big enough way they apparently feel no obligation to treat me decently. Just another experience in the wonderful world of worker's compensation. Thank you. Oh, one last note. When I was speaking with Artin he said, "You didn't suffer a brain injury." A concussion, I offered. "Ok, but you didn't suffer a brain injury." Last I knew, the terms "concussion" and "brain injury" were interchangeable, even in the medical field. I didn't argue the point because I was at in that moment, wanting them to please please please please help me. But how offensive. A concussion, a brain injury, an insult to the brain, a trauma to the brain. TBI - TRAUMATIC brain injury. Offensive. Yes, I did suffer a "brain injury". WHY WOULD I WANT A LAWYER who minimizes or denies one the most traumatic things that has ever happened to me? Thank you. read more

It was even made a little more difficult because my motorcycle, a 1974 Honda CB550, was too old to be found in any blue book. When the driver's insurance had made an initial offer considering my motorcycle a total loss, it was suspiciously low compared to how it was valued on the second hand market, citing 2 motorcycle repair shops as giving the appraisal. When contacted, both of these repair shops deny ever giving an appraisal stating that they could not do so without seeing the motorcycle first. It's clear to me that this was a lie by the driver's insurance company to pay as little as possible and without Tony's help, I don't know how I would have navigated this space. I repeatedly asked whether my case was strong enough to pursue, and I was consistently reassured that it was. Based on that reassurance, I agreed to move forward. However, the outcome did not reflect the confidence that was initially communicated, and I was ultimately left in a difficult financial position. One of my biggest concerns was the lack of direct communication. Despite requesting to speak with the attorney handling my case, I never had the opportunity to do so. Instead, I was assigned a case manager who, in my experience, did not seem fully informed about the details or progress of my case. Overall, I feel that my expectations were not properly managed, and I wish there had been more transparency about the risks involved. I would encourage others to make sure they have direct access to their attorney and a clear understanding of potential outcomes before proceeding. I need to correct several points in your response because that was not my experience. At no point did I have a direct conversation with you where any of this was clearly explained. In fact, despite multiple requests to speak with the attorney handling my case, I was never given that opportunity. All communication was handled through a case manager, who, from my understanding, had very limited experience at the time and was not able to adequately answer my questions or explain the situation in detail. Before moving forward, I repeatedly asked whether this was a case worth pursuing, specifically because I could not afford to take on medical expenses without a reasonable expectation of recovery. I relied on the reassurance provided by your office. If this case was truly as limited as you are now stating, that should have been clearly and directly communicated to me by the attorney not relayed indirectly or left unclear. Instead, my case was taken on, I proceeded with treatment, and then the case was dropped shortly after, leaving me in a difficult financial position. To make matters worse, I was not even properly notified that my case had been dropped. For something this serious, that level of communication is unacceptable. That financial impact may not seem significant from your perspective, but for an everyday person, it absolutely is. This is exactly why I asked those questions upfront. This experience reflects a lack of direct communication and transparency, which is the main issue I raised in my original review.
