I look forward to my next visit to Lumina Gem, this time, for ME!

I went there today to purchase a piece of jewelry. The store wasn't crowded or very busy. I was…read morecompletely ignored by the staff. Not even a greeting when I came in. Some was standing around making small talk with friends/customers. I waited around for 10-15 minutes to look at some pieces. Another gentleman walked in, a salesperson immediately came up and talked to him, you know, like a typical salesperson is supposed to do. Hmmmmmm... Did that guy look like he had money and I didn't? (For the record, I could afford to buy half the store if I chose to.) Did they not see me because I was not a white, tall guy? Maybe. This being near the Landfill/Wrightsville areas, full of hoytie/toytie people, I wouldn't doubt it. Anyway, they lost a sale today and many future sales. This is not the way to run a business, though.

The owner and jeweler, Jayde, suggested to text pictures of the bracelet. He seemed confident he could make the repair, but would know more after seeing it in person. We drove an hour to have him look at it and he was able to fix it on the spot within minutes. The repair was done perfectly and she was extremely pleased and relieved. If Jayde took this much interest and care in an "inexpensive", but sentimental piece, I have no doubt in his attention to detail with much finer pieces. Definitely will be using his services in the future and would highly recommend!

The selection of amazing polished crystals and gems is astounding for the size of the store, it's organized beautifully! They offer raw stones as well and have many gorgeous displays of jewelry most handmade by the owner herself. What's more astounding is how absolutely reasonable everything is priced, with a budding young geologist in the family we are here at least once a week. Also, this is often my go to for unique pieces for gifts for special events and holidays. Don't miss the beautiful display of cameo and gem necklaces on the front left side of the store all at $20. You'd easily think they were $50+ pieces. As the owner is a jewelry maker she of course offers repairs on your own pieces as well. You're not only supporting local but you're supporting a GREAT local shop. I'm so happy to hear they're opening a second location with all their success.
