I live in Jacksonville & when I'm going to do some serious 2A related scouting with the intent of making"one of those types of purchases" there's not a 2nd thought to driving down to Eastern Outfitters. The whole store makes me feel how I used to feel when the Sears & Montgomery Wards Christmas catalogs arrived in the mailbox when I was a kid! When you go over to my favorite area though,the folks that man the counter & are working in the aisles are always commensurate professionals,attentive,willing to answer any queries & just generally friendly! That is a stark contrast to the big A in Jacksonville,in all aspects. It's well worth the trip,just don't think you'll get out of there in under an hr! Maybe some can do it but I just resign myself to it being a day trip,yup! It's that much fun! read more

Purchased a g-force semi auto ar-12 yesterday for $319 after tax $339 off the eastern outfitters website I have the gun and payment confirmation i woke up this morning and found out the gun price went up to $451. Good thing I bought it for $339 yesterday!! Wrong I get a email from costumer service saying that since the price of the gun went up in the middle of the night I will need to pay the difference but I have already paid your asking price the first time.. Lost a customer today. I was treated horribly after spending over $1,000 at the store and wanted to return some clothing that didn't fit. Since it was the manager, I can't imagine that this store values customer service or treating people with kindness. She was condescending and shocked me with her behavior. Having just moved here and wanting to buy local, we bought a ton of Christmas gifts here (some rather large items). I am still flabbergasted by how I was spoken to. I will be headed into the next town for our outdoor gear and clothing. So sad. read more

This store has a good assortment of outdoor gear and accessories. The staff is friendly and attentive to just about any question. Plenty of different types of guns and shooting accessories. Their ammo is a bit slim but I am guessing that it goes out as quickly as it arrives. read more

Dont waste your time. Multiple salespeople couldn't come out from behind the counter to help us. Horrible service when I finally engaged them...register clerk then overcharged me by $ 60, I got the basics of what I needed, but refused to buy the two new rods and reels there....headed elsewhere....big disappointment for my first time in this well stocked store....They lost a lot of money today...but Im pretty sure they wont care...they will make it up on the next customer they overcharge. I was passing by and stopped in to see what the store had inside. I found a specialized light that was on sale for less than 1/2 of the MSRP. I continued my trip and did some research on the product later that evening. Confident it was a great deal, I called them to have them hold it as I was making return trip next day. I live nearby and have bought items here over the years. It is overpriced and not much sales help, but saves a longer drive. I will never buy from them again after experience there yesterday. The Owner? manager? (older white haired jerk) was so smug and condescending. He very strongly insinuated that I had stolen from them!!?? I had asked about a package that had clearly been opened already and appeared to be missing a part. I understand that some people may take things like that, but accusing someone without any reason to believe they had done so is stupid. Had my guns shipped to this location and when they arrived and I opened the boxes to inspect, my brand new guns had been damaged. No fingers pointed at who's fault, just it is what it is... reason for such terrible service is after 2 months working with UPS and the original shipping company, I needed to get a repair estimate. So I reach out to them about my claim to see if they would make a statement about my damaged guns. Ironically, everyone remembered me, but the manager (Jerry) said he spoke with the inventory guy (Joseph), and he "doesn't remember any damage". Then I ask is their a log about the condition of the guns when they show up, Jerry, the manager says there's no log and that they just check serial numbers not verify the condition of the weapon. So then I ask why would you even ask him if he remembers if the guns had any damage if there's never anyway to confirm that there was damage or not. Boy, did the conversation turn for the worse. I said it sounds like you didn't care whether the condition of the rifles were good or poor. Complete lack of help with regards to my situation of having two brand new guns damaged during shipping in which they've never been fired. I wasn't pointing fingers at anybody that did the damage, just looking for repair estimate to fix my rifle. Manager was 100% completely against helping me in anyway shape or form to correct what happened. It's really unfortunate that people can't help people these days. Mistakes happen, that's what insurance is for.... would never recommend this company nor these people to live or work near me!!! To be honest I went in expecting the kind of treatment I had previously received at their Richlands location. i.e. As a customer without an in-depth knowledge of what I was looking for I was wasting their time and getting in the way of their socializing. However, my recent visit to their Hampstead location was a complete 180. I don't know anything about bow hunting but am interested in learning more and possibly attempting it in the future, so I am a deep pocket for just about anything that an experienced hunter would recommend. I decided to give this location a try since it is not a bad drive from the base, and based on internet searches Eastern Outfitters are one of the only games in town when it comes to bow hunting. As I entered the store I noticed it seemed a bit smaller than the Richlands location and it is all on one floor (no archery second floor). I came in and did not receive a "hello" or "welcome to eastern outfitters" as the lady working the cash register didn't even look up from her phone as I entered. "Oh well" I thought, "here we go" expecting to run into the same type of folks as the Richlands location. I found my way back to the archery section, which is stocked very well with numerous option (almost too crowded to be honest), and noticed that there was no one there. I looked around a little bit and checked out some items, just so I could get a feel for the items I was looking at online. I then visited the bathroom (for obvious reasons) which was quite clean, and when I returned I did some final perusing of their inventory. That is when Paul showed up. I think he was helping another customer at the gun counter when I was first looking around so he wasn't immediately available, and since this was late on a Thursday night, I don't expect they had a huge number of sales people minding the store (I only saw two other customers the whole time I was there). I cannot say enough good things about Paul. Once I explained I am a novice, he spent the better part of an hour, going through all the ins and outs of bow hunting. Bows, setups, companies, draw length, draw weight, options for accessories, methods to improve before going to the woods, etc... You name it and he knew it. He made recommendations based on my situation and nearly had me buying a bow that was about $100.00 over what the wife had authorized me to spend. However, I stuck to my ceiling knowing that since this may be a passing fancy (which I suspect it is not, but you can never tell when you are starting out) I didn't want to overcommit right out the gate. As a matter of fact I even called my wife to see if she would change her opinion on my way out but she didn't take the bait. So as I left I noticed that they were doing classes that I had no idea anyone in the area was offering. Which means that I will be back with every scrap of change I can squirrel away now. Even though I didn't buy anything that night (I actually bought a bow online that I wouldn't have expected them to match price wise), the professional attitude, enthusiasm and depth of knowledge that Paul exhibited means that instead of actively avoiding Eastern Outfitters as I have done in the past, they will be my first choice for any outdoor items I need. (I.e. tree stands, arrows, tips, release, wax, maintenance, hunting clothes, etc.) so in the long run they will still get my business and based on their inventory, I will be happily spending quite a bit of time and money there. If you are in my same or similar situation and want to make contact with Paul, Sunday, Monday or Thursday are the day to head on out there. I am sure that the other Bow Techs they have around are just as good but if you see me there it will most likely be on one of those days. read more

Usually this place provides alright service and I will admit I'm a little bit frustrated At the moment. I bought a $1300 bow from this place with the nicest and most expensive arrow rest made, which also has a lifetime replacement warranty. Now the rest is brand specific so the manufacturer QAD says I have to get it replaced by a Hoyt dealer. Ok cool. So I call the richlands locations and talked to some bumbling guy that answered the phone in the archery department and he told me that it wouldn't be any problem, just drive on up to our Hampstead location and they will switch it out if they have one. Awesome, I drive up here, check one out on the shelf, and talk to a nice employee about my situation, he in turn gets his manager who tells me they have a bow guy, but he only works from 4-8 three days a week. The problem here is that nobody cares about the service. They were hoppin around to get my 2k last year. This thing is obviously broken all it takes is for you to make a phone call and get the info you need to warranty it out. Instead they turn it over to a guy that works primarily after the place he needs to call is closed. The nice lady's up front offered to give me the owners number, but judging from the majority of experiences it wouldn't be worth the time calling. There is a $170 arrow rest in your front trash can if you want to warranty out and re sale. read more

My family and I have gone to Topsail Island for years and we always stop in Eastern Outfitters once if not twice. Purchase shirts etc.. We used to go to the old store before this one but this time will probably be the last time I go into the store. Me and my husband went in to purchase some 22 shells and the older guy with a mustache was not friendly at all! He gave me a dirty look when I asked for 2 boxes to purchase and hesitated to give them to me. I have a 22 and as a matter of fact I have many guns. Yes I am a girl and a wife to the man that purchased his 2 boxes of shells also. We are hunters and avid outdoorsmen. With the look I got and the hesitation of handing me my shells and telling me " you know those need to be purchased separately" I will not be back to this store! Don't judge people and think they don't shoot guns just because they might be a woman and be rude to them cause it might just bite you in the rear!!
