Completely ruined my hair. I went in asking for long layers without removing any length. Tony initially followed what was request, and I was pleased at first. However, I noticed him kick something aside, which made me look back and realize it was a large ball of my hair. By then, it was too late to stop him. He removed a significant amount of healthy hair to thin it out without my consent. When he finished, my hair was extremely thin, and the volume I loved was completely gone. My hair is naturally curly, and this has significantly affected my curls. It will take years to regrow and repair what was done. Tony was kind, but I don't believe he has sufficient experience working with diverse hair types. His idea of beautiful hair seems to lean toward thin, sleek styles, and he attempted to turn my hair into that. I loved my thick, voluminous hair, and I was left devastated by the outcome. I went to Tony for the first time and had such a great experience! Some of the reviews mentioned a language barrier, and Tony himself mentioned in passing he doesn't speak English very well. But I had no issue -- I showed photos and he delivered exactly that. My hair looks completely refreshed, and this was the first time I told someone not to make my hair too short and they delivered! My length was exactly where I wanted it with some added layers for volume. The price was also great for the quality of the cut. I am writing this review to warn others so they don't have to go through the same painful experience I did. I came here for a perm, and the owner recommended a "hot perm." Unfortunately, the process was a nightmare. During the service, I immediately felt intense heat and a stinging sensation on my scalp. When I told the owner it was too hot and that I was in pain, he dismissed my concerns. He told me it was "normal" and even claimed that if I didn't feel the heat, there would be something wrong with his tools. He told me not to worry, but because he didn't listen, I ended up with a burnt scalp and completely fried, damaged hair. A salon visit should never result in physical injury, and a stylist should never ignore a client's discomfort. I am now dealing with the painful aftermath of scalp burns and ruined hair. My first time getting a layered haircut from Tony was back in February 2025 when it was $30. I had an appointment at 9:30am and I was the only one there. He was so great cutting my hair and taking his time to make sure it came out perfect. I told myself I would definitely come back again for another haircut! But today, was completely the opposite of everything I experienced before. Yes, I made a last minute appointment and he told me to come at 11:45am so I was happy he was able to take me in which is why I gave him 3 stars. However, when I walked in, another lady was starting to sit on the chair and they (lady and Tony) stared at me wondering what to do. And also, Tony was helping another lady with a perm. The lady helped Tony translate on his behalf and the lady said she was late for her 11:30am appointment and if it was okay to get a haircut and it will take 15-20 mins. I said sure and he even provided soda for me while I waited. Well, I didn't sit down on the seat until 12:20pm. He took 20-25 mins to cut the ladies hair who had medium length hair. He did apologize for the inconvenience so I told him it was okay. But what I didn't like was that he RUSHED through my layered haircut this time. The lady before me, he took 20-25 mins. But for my very long layered haircut, he only 15 mins and didn't give me the after oil hair treatment that he usually runs through the hair after he is done. I definitely saw him do it for the previous lady before me. I felt like he rushed me because of the perm lady who was also waiting on him and the previous lady's friend that decided that she wanted to get a haircut after me. If he couldn't give me the quality care like the previous lady (probably because they spoke the same language), then please do not accept appointments and making me wait 30 mins for my haircut. Sad because this was going to be my go-to haircut and it was near home, but I must go look for a new salon now. Don't make the same mistake Tony and try to juggle 3-4 people at one time! I am extremely disappointed with the service at SK Salon. My wife went in for a haircut and the stylist, Tony, clearly told her she could come back one time for a free bang trim. When she returned for that trim, he started arguing about it and making a big deal as if she was asking for something unreasonable. This is not about the cost of a trim. FIRST OFF, if you look at the note from the business. They speak 3 languages. Chinese, Cantonese and Viet. Fluently. If there is a language barrier outside of those three languages , please be patient and understanding to service workers. I was looking for a quick appointment and decided to call in. I should've listened to the review below that said he will cut your length. I came in and I specifically said I wanted my same hairstyle just a trim because I am growing my hair out. And then away he went with the scissors. I literally had anxiety attack after in my car because he gave me a butterfly cut with wispy layers and cut 2inches off. I went and cried my eyes out in my car all of my hard work with my hair gone just like that... my bangs are messy too but that I can work with. Just look at the pictures I just moved here and I usually go to a very expensive salon and I didn't wanna judge because you can find hidden gems but this was not one of them and I paid the price that not even money can buy. If it was a color issue you can always color it back but you can't glue your hair back on. I was really happy with how my haircut turned out, which is why I decided to come back. I scheduled an appointment with him, but when I arrived, he was already cutting someone else's hair and asked me to wait and come back at 12. I told him I'd return, and he agreed.
