Homes Direct of Salida - Lot Model #12

    Homes Direct of Salida

A thoughtful review from a current manufactured home owner. We started our search for our home in…read moreFebruary of 2025. After touring the models at Homes Direct, we were eager to move forward with the Seavannah model. We worked with Michael throughout the sales process. While he was friendly and available to answer our questions, he lacked some detailed knowledge about the model and gave us incorrect information from time to time. I ended up doing a lot of research on my own to figure out what was included and what wasn't. I researched the cost breakdown of the base model and upgraded options. I recommend asking the questions and following up regularly throughout the sales process The time to completion definitely took longer than we were told. Our home was delivered about 2 months after we anticipated. The transport company that Homes Direct contracts with was great to work with. They communicated well. We were told it would take about six weeks for it to be move in ready, but it took about 12 weeks. Some of this was on our end, not having utilities ready and having some snags with the county with permitting but not 6 additional weeks worth. Once we did our final walk throughs right before we moved in in January with Richard, there were several items that needed attention. Richard is also very kind and easy to work with. Many things were done fairly quickly- adding additional electrical outlets, installing light fixtures, some paint work. BUT, many items have yet to be repaired: cracked tile, cracked siding, poor carpet installation in one area, leaking outdoor faucet, and other paint work. Jose (excellent to work with) was the handyman that did the initial repairs for us and he noticed that the replacement tile sent by Palm Harbor wasn't an exact match so he left the tile unfinished while we waited for the tile to be delivered. It is now May, almost 4 months since we moved in, and the tile is still unfinished (3 months later) and the cracked siding has yet to be replaced. The exterior paint hasn't been touched. We ended up caping the leaking outdoor faucet ourselves. When we call Richard, he is quick to address our concerns and assures us that someone will come out soon. Our last phone call was March 23rd, and I have yet to see anyone repair the final items on the list as I write this review on May 3rd. We also have friends in the area who have purchased homes recently from Homes Direct and complain of similar issues. While I understand that they may not have several contractors available to complete the work right away, there really isn't any excuse for the lack of communication. I personally would appreciate an "update" phone call which there have been none throughout the entire process. Overall, I feel my review is an accurate reflection of our purchase and move-in journey. It wasn't perfect by any means and there is definitely room for improvement. Kindness only goes so far in this kind of business. Execution and follow-through is necessary. The home itself has it's issues but that goes for any home. The biggest things to note are the fact that we will have to do another coat of interior paint very soon and the bathrooms do not come with semi-gloss paint. We opted for a pit set home and there is some creaking of the floor in some locations. The switches for the fans that come with the house don't actually match modern day fans that now come with a remote. Otherwise, we do really like the home, the layout and the majority of the optional upgrades. The high ceilings are a must as is the upgraded insulation package.

Buyer Beware: Delays, Broken Promises, and Poor Communication…read more My mom purchased a Palm Harbor home through Homes Direct, and this experience has been a nightmare. Communication has been terrible from the start. We were told multiple times the house was on its way, but nothing showed up--no updates, no calls, nothing. At one point, we were even told they didn't know where the house was. When we placed the order on March 19, 2025, we were assured the home would arrive quickly and that there wasn't a large backlog. Despite those assurances, the home didn't arrive until August 13, 2025--almost five months later. We were hoping and praying to celebrate Thanksgiving in the home, but that didn't happen. Now it's December 3rd, and we're just hoping maybe for Christmas. When the home finally arrived, the walkthrough revealed serious issues. A portion of the granite countertop was cracked in half, and we were assured someone was coming to fix it. Months later, it's still broken, and we have no clear plan on when or how it will be repaired. There are other problems from the initial setup that remain unresolved. We keep getting told "someone is coming," yet nobody shows up--days and weeks go by with no progress. Richard from Homes Direct has tried to hold things together, and we truly appreciate his effort, but the overall process has been a complete mess. Palm Harbor seems to wash their hands of responsibility once the home leaves their site, and Homes Direct has provided no consistent communication or accountability. The home has been sitting on our property for over three months, and we still can't move in. This has caused enormous stress and inconvenience for our family. If you value timely service and clear communication, I cannot recommend Homes Direct or Palm Harbor.

I am so disappointed in the way this company has handled the closing of escrow on my home…read more I was not even informed until 3 days after an offer had been submitted that an offer was made. When it came time for the inspection I wasn't informed until the hour before that an appointment had been scheduled. Which in the long run cost more than it should have because something I had to replace, smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors I already have. I could have hung them back in their spots before the inspector arrived and saved myself almost a triple amount. Had I been told the inspector was coming I could have done a lot of things but as this is a 1 star review you may have gotten the hint my chief complaint is the lack of communication. The closing itself is a sad commentary on the customer service given. Friday we sign. I'm guaranteed to recieve the wire transfer of money before the close of business. No, didn't happen. Monday comes and anothe guarantee given. Stll no money. The buyer has received theirs for the sale of their home to buy this home. Meanwhile I have 0 to fall back on, movers are charging me an extra $40 per day to sit in limbo. And remember I am in an empty house. No blankets, no electric and because I was told I would be leaving there is NO FOOD. Saying I have 0 to fall back on is no exaggeration. I haven't had anything to eat in 4 days now. So my third guarantee has expired and when I finally hysterically reach someone on the phone is there a concern or care for what I'm experiencing? No just another guarantee. I advise anyone using this company to become very vocally pushy or else it will happen to you.
