Don Hoerr and Sons has done every project for our family for the past 18 years starting with…read morereplacing a large cedar shake roof. They were ready to serve as we started upgrading our home, one project at a time, starting with a custom screened-in porch with removable panels for larger events. They then executed custom privacy cedar fencing designed by our landscape architect for our hot tub. They amazed us as they turned our world upside down removing and reinstalling upstairs flooring in order to wire and install in-ceiling speakers in our main floor family room that has a coffered ceiling. Most recently they helped capture our vision for our outdated primary bathroom, making it a spa-like experience that cleverly conceals the necessities we will need as we age. To the table, Don Hoerr and Sons brings long term vendor relationships with true craftsmen. Their carpenters could make picture frames instead of mitering baseboards or crown molding:). They are true artisans.

But…read moresince this company did, let me just review why you should NEVER get work done by them, they are TERRIBLE. What we asked to have done was not what was completed (I blame myself for not reading one very specific number related to length of fencing on the bottom of the enclosed area... we specifically needed reinforcement in the entire area because it was an enclosure for our dogs who dig. It's the entire reason we needed the work. When we asked why he'd taken it upon himself to change the quote to HALF, he said it was his mistake, he'd thought that length was adequate (seriously?? it's our house, we know what we want) but since we'd not picked up on that ONE #, we had no recourse) We still paid the full amount. The materials were supposed to be of higher quality but they are just average fencing from Home Depot. The work is crooked in areas and last night we realized that all the screws are missing out of the fence post for the gate and its now in need of repair since it pulled down and our dogs were able to get out of the area because the door will not stay shut. 4 fence panels, a gate and reinforcement (that we had to reinforce again with landscaping rocks) was $3500, we were supposed to get 4 higher quality panels, a much better gate, reinforcement around the entire area and apparently we should have stipulated that we wanted screws... I'm so angry I did not trust my gut and not use them. Fortunately we found somebody else to do all the other interior work we need done. Lastly, the employee who quoted us, borrowed an expensive tape measurer because he wasn't professional enough to have one but then took it without telling us. When we asked him to bring it back he assured us he would, 2x. When he did not the last day, after the job was finished, we asked again but he then stated he'd thrown it away. Clearly a lie. Theft is not a joke around your personal possessions. The people who installed the fence were pleasant and that's about the only positive thing I can say. ZERO stars, do not recommend for price, quality of work, efficiency or customer satisfaction.

Most contractors will seek permission from your neighbor before stepping foot on someone else's property, so as not to be trespassing. They did not. It is also worth mentioning that they are not landscapers. They over pruned my fir trees and butchered my several of my shrubs. Be careful if you hire them because you might make yourself liable to damage to your neighbor's yard.
