If I could give these people negitive stars I would. HORRIBLE is the word I would use to describe thier service, thier attitudes, and thier general business practice. I am a small landscaping company owner. But I'm willing to bet if I was one of the big names around here it would have been an entirely different scenario. However I recently went to S&J to procure thier black mulch per customer req. Which is the darkest black mulch in my area. Cape Cod "Not alot of options" I ordered 12 yards. This came out to almost 700 dollars. Their delivery driver Paul she said his name was. Dumped HALF the pile in the road. Because he said the customer told him it was ok. She did not. He asked if it were ok that a little went into the road. She was 100 yards away in her pajamas at the door and said if its the only way then sure. As long as its just a little. Then told him it would be better for him to dump in driveway. She said I'll move my car. He said he didnt want to dump in driveway because of powerlines. Which were about 50 feet in the air at the beginning of the driveway. They were not in the way. Funny how I used a diff co last year and they were able to get it in the driveway just fine. With the largest size delivery truck that holds over 10 yards. Which is the same truck the driver of S&J was driving. And the basis for all thier excuses. I know its not easy manuevering large trucks to dump in specific spots. I have had other drivers from other companies dump here without any issues using the same size truck. Which is why I never used them in the past. All thier products are very overpriced compared to 2 other companies who are accross the street from them as well as down the road from them. But the customer wanted a really black fine mulch and they were the only ones that had it...unfortunatly. Because if this had happened ANYWHERE else they would have made it right. The driver did try to call me once but unfortunately my phone had died. But because he quote made several exagerated attempts to call which he only called once. They said it was on me. The only thing they could offer me was an apology. I have been a landscaper on the Cape for over 20 years. I never had to deal with this type of HORRIBLE Customer service from landscape supply. I told the manager I would be writing this review and she said and we will respond. Probably with the same sad excuses she tried on me. I have to deal with alot going wrong so I am pretty used to it being a newer business and learning alot as I go but nobody should ever have to pay almost 700 dollars for a product that they have to spend. 1.5 hours with help moving. If the driver did nothing wrong why did I recieve a call from the town asking me to move it asap or recieve a citation? I also emailed the manager the pics. And she kept saying I understand how you feel BUT.. since we tried to call you.... Once ... Its not on us. Which is bull. Mind you when I noticed I had a missed call from them I called back and the young woman in the office didnt even mention the mulch pile in the road. They just wanted the credit card number again because they had the wrong digit somewhere. Then I get a call from the customer who told me what happened in her words extremely upset. This made me look bad as well because I handled the ordering. She also told me that a town do dpw truck came by and she told them I was on my way to move it. So I get there and have to move a huge pile of mulch with my worker. I'm out the money I had to pay him to help. I'm out the money I spent doing it myself as well. I also had to abruptly leave a potential estimate with a new customer. Also the delivery fee which was around 30 to 50 dollars....And the best they can offer is a unsatisfactory apology? Like I said... HORRIBLE. I will never use them again. I will make sure any of my friends who are also landscaping business owners never use them again. And if you are smart you should never go through them again. I apologize for the lengthy review. I have never felt so angry with this type of bad customer service.. read more
