Røst is a quite new restaurant; it opened in the same premises as Trøndelag Theatre in August 2015. They use traditional Norwegian, local ingredients, which they prepare in the most delicious ways. For the time being you can chose between 3, 5 or 8 courses and they also offer wine pairing.
The restaurant itself is in a large room with a stage, and whilst the building is from the late 90's, you get the feeling of being in an historical surrounding when enjoying your meal. The "doll house" bar with fish fountains, the puppets behind glass walls.. You sence you are somewhere special.
Service deserves its own chapter! The young waiters and chefs are all smiling and making you feel very welcome. They are presenting their dishes with pride and details of the ingredients' origin. We had the 5-course menu, starting off with Jerusalem artichokes, followed by variations over calamari. The main courses were European hake and pigeon, before finishing off with a delicious plum dish for dessert. The prices are very reasonable for such delicious quality food.
It all came with delicious wine pairing, but my only comment is that our lovely waiter did not know much about the wines she served. Besides that, both she and her colleagues were just fantastic!
