Items were priced quite affordably - the wine light was £10, while the London building blocks was around £15. The sales assistants were nice and chatty the day we dropped in, and happy to help us wrap our gift for no extra cost (as long as we paid for the wrapping paper). They also had really nice, cute wrapping paper for kids in the form of Mr. Men wrapping paper. That was a big hit!

Oops. "We're an independent gift shop" she replied, a big indignantly. And I kind of think this is one of those shops where you don't really know what they sell. I'm tempted to say 'tat'. It is tat, but it's really nice tate. So you can buy a teapot with a cover that makes it look like it's wearing a 'terrorist's balaclava'. Haw Haw. There's going to be someone out there, who will open the patterned fork and trowel and think that it's the best present they've ever had. But I don't know them. There's a bit of jewelry on sale, some nice greetings cards. Some moleskin diaries. Things like pocket gardens, where bulbs come pre-planted in the soil in the wrapping, so you just open and water. Dunno, as I said, it's all very nice, just not that usefull.

Everything is interesting, I found myself poking and prodding looking for a birthday gift for a dear friend. The hard part is that there is so much to choose from that it takes time to make a selection. Space is not the store for those in a rush and uncertain of what they are looking for. If you have time, it is a wonderful store to explore; it's small so it doesn't take long to look at everything. The hard part is making a decision. I do love that it's a one stop shop. I bought a card, a gift (settled on earrings) and wrapping paper. It's nice when I don't have to rush around putting a gift together!

Unfortunately I never got much further than the Blue Peter school of glitter glue so a lot of the stock in this shop goes a bit over my head. Sticking to what I can understand, Cowling and Wilcox has a really nice card and gift selection with a bit more personality than anything you'll find in Clinton's. The writing sets are particularly stylish although they can be quite expensive. Similarly, they have a great selection of Moleskin diaries and books but these can cost anything upwards of £15. On the other hand they have a great selection of arty presents for kids which all seem very reasonably priced and a lot of fun too for that matter! I defy anyone to be too old for face-paints. Cowling and Wilcox is a lovely shop which is well worth a look around if you're in need of anything a bit arty or looking for a more personal present for that difficult someone.

A light and airy shop pack fill of supplies all organised clearly on shelves and stands making for easy spending. It is a little on the expensive side, however the quality and quantity of supplies is impressive. Especially if it is a final year portfolio or important presentation. However they did offer an amazing variety of happy birthday sheet wrap, and I have to assume most people aren't trying to wall paper an entire room with happy birthday wrapping paper. Ideally situated on the Covent Garden north piazza, this Swedish design stationery boutique opened recently i believe and opened another one close-by right after. As an absolute enthusiast for swedish culture and design in general i had to stop by this shop and oh boy have i sealed my fate ! I love EVERYTHING. E-ve-ry-thing. One of my obsessions include notebooks and anything really related to organizing my life/work. Actually, stationery in general. Especially if it's carefully designed and minimalist. I recently took an oath to only buy notebooks that i absolutely needed (oh boy). Confronted to chosing, i almost had a panic attack. I'm not even kidding. The shop is quite big and very well organized (obviously). Very white, very clean, very swedish, very made for me. The goods are sorted by collections and colletions are of different styles and colours so everybody should find contentment. The crew was nice and £60 later i had the perfect notebook i was looking for joined by a gratitude book and an adult blissful colouring book. Jeeeez i'm unstoppable.
