The location of this store is decent, it is on Tottenham Court Road and is basically right next to Argos, and opposite Superdrug and Natwest (or at least a few minutes walk away on the other side of the road) This store is quite large, but the selection of stock is merely average for a store of its size, even compared to other Paperchase stores, I didn't notice a lot of cool items which they didn't sell in other stores, for example in terms of lever arch folders, they all seemed the same with nothing new compared to other flagship stores such as Manchester, and more smaller stores such as Newcastle or Liverpool. The store is over three floors, there is a bookshop and Tinderbox Coffee Shop on the first floor and a Crafts / Magazine floor on the Second. The staff around the store didn't seem too friendly either. This store overall was quite impressive in terms of size but for everything else, it was just average. I'm struggling here, although the size of the store is impressive I can't help but feel some aspects with the feel of the store, the service not being great, the level of products not being as good as one would expect from the size of the store, and the unwelcoming nature as you enter the store, I sadly feel it deserves just two-stars.

The store is clearly divided with wearable goods in the front half and stationary goods in the back. Everything out is display only. If you want to purchase something you indicate you would like it and the salesperson eagerly goes to check stock. Once stock is confirmed the salesperson will receive confirmation you want the item and then they will bring it to the counter. They are very particular with this process. And they are hawkish. I never got warm fuzzies from the salespeople who seemed very intense and eager for any sale. They never engaged in pressure sales but once interest was shown they quickly descended with military precision. Our salesperson was efficient and solid, but seemed quickly irritated when he couldn't close a sale immediately especially if a cash register was occupied by another co-worker. We were never in a rush but our salesperson wanted to be done. He hovered by three different machines before one freed up. The merchandise is quite nice! I especially loved the purses which were classy and unique with fantastic colors. I love them! If you want fancy paper or great purses would highly recommend!

Unfortunately I never got much further than the Blue Peter school of glitter glue so a lot of the stock in this shop goes a bit over my head. Sticking to what I can understand, Cowling and Wilcox has a really nice card and gift selection with a bit more personality than anything you'll find in Clinton's. The writing sets are particularly stylish although they can be quite expensive. Similarly, they have a great selection of Moleskin diaries and books but these can cost anything upwards of £15. On the other hand they have a great selection of arty presents for kids which all seem very reasonably priced and a lot of fun too for that matter! I defy anyone to be too old for face-paints. Cowling and Wilcox is a lovely shop which is well worth a look around if you're in need of anything a bit arty or looking for a more personal present for that difficult someone.

It is a little on the expensive side, however the quality and quantity of supplies is impressive. Especially if it is a final year portfolio or important presentation. Ideally situated on the Covent Garden north piazza, this Swedish design stationery boutique opened recently i believe and opened another one close-by right after. As an absolute enthusiast for swedish culture and design in general i had to stop by this shop and oh boy have i sealed my fate ! I love EVERYTHING. E-ve-ry-thing. One of my obsessions include notebooks and anything really related to organizing my life/work. Actually, stationery in general. Especially if it's carefully designed and minimalist. I recently took an oath to only buy notebooks that i absolutely needed (oh boy). Confronted to chosing, i almost had a panic attack. I'm not even kidding. The shop is quite big and very well organized (obviously). Very white, very clean, very swedish, very made for me. The goods are sorted by collections and colletions are of different styles and colours so everybody should find contentment. The crew was nice and £60 later i had the perfect notebook i was looking for joined by a gratitude book and an adult blissful colouring book. Jeeeez i'm unstoppable.

So when I walked by this store (on my way to Highgate Wood) this past weekend and I spotted a kid's T-shirt with the London bus featured on it, I knew that this would be the perfect gift for said nephew's upcoming birthday! Walking into the shop, the lady behind the counter greeted my with a warm smile and offered her help. I right away liked how she was very passionate about the T-shirts and other garments made my a local designer. As I didn't have any money on me, she put the T-shirt aside for me and when I came back later in the day, I also bought another T-shirt for my other nephew...they are just too cute! The sales assistants were nice and chatty the day we dropped in, and happy to help us wrap our gift for no extra cost (as long as we paid for the wrapping paper). They also had really nice, cute wrapping paper for kids in the form of Mr. Men wrapping paper. That was a big hit!

This is a great little niche store right in the heart of the West End. The staff are all really…read morefriendly and, more importantly, knowledgeable. They have a great selection of stock (the greetings cards are hilarious and my absolute favourite) and at prices that are far cheaper than the larger chain stationers which are close by. All in all a great find and my new first port of call for stationery. Oh, and they'll even make you a fancy coffee as you browse through their collection. What else could you ask for?

Definitely a quirky place to pop in for stationery or minor crafty bits or inexpensive and lighthearted home decor.
