I thought this place was great. We came in on a busy night, and yet we were able to get seats at the rooftop bar while we waited for our table. Drink pours were very generous. Food was very good but the service was not. When we approached the hostess she continued to have her conversation with her co worker for about 40 seconds before acknowledging us. The waiter was nice but didn't refill drinks and never said "you're welcome" after us saying thank you every time he brought something. This made us feel unwelcome. read more

Came here with my dad and sister, dad was very excited about the LAKE perch on the menu. We waited until 4:30 (when the dinner menu with the lake perch was available) to order the lake perch because the lunch menu had an ocean perch basket. When the perch arrived, it was a major disappointment. My dad knows the difference between cheap ocean perch and delicious lake perch. The waitress, when asked said it was ocean and my dad told her it was supposed to be lake. When we called upon the manager she lied and told us it was from Lake Superior and it was LAKE perch, he challenged her and she did not budge. My first visit with my white husband was amazing.My second visit with mostly black group of girlfriends was traumatic. In short, we stopped in on a Sunday during our visit to the wine country. After placing our order I would say 10 minutes later we were approached by our server who informed us that we were being too loud and inappropriate. He went on to state that they had been approached by four other tables with concerns. We looked at each other kind of dumb founded as we were wondering what was too loud, and what language did we use that was inappropriate. We had only just placed our order and were laughing as we talked about the good old days. We are a group of women age 36-41. We had not even all ordered in these few minutes. He came back to the table to say "You people,are being too loud and I have tables complaining about you" At this point I know I could not stay here,it was not going to be emotionally safe for me or my friends. As we were planning to leave the manger and his servers said I think it's good you are leaving. I told them that their approach to the situation made me feel that they were being racist. The roof top setting was nice, but the food was a big disappointment. We came for lunch and ordered the firecracker shrimp as an app, and it was basically frozen breaded shrimp from Gordon Food Service heated up and then tossed in some spicy mayonnaise. For my lunch entree, I ordered their signature RyeBelle burger and it had no flavor. Like, zero taste what so ever and not even a hefty blob of ketchup could revive it. I didn't even finish the burger because it was so gross. Their home made potato chips were flavorless, too. My 5 y.o. ordered mac and cheese off the kids menu and it was basically Kraft dinner with a BIG side of very bland potato chips. Overall, I was extremely disappointed with this place. Stopped here after dinner for some drinks on the beautiful rooftop - only to find out that the rooftop closed at 10pm! During the busy tourism season in the middle of summer, this seems to be a miss. Luckily even though we arrived 10 minutes prior to close, we were still able to purchase drinks at the bar. Ironically enough, however, there were two rooftop areas. The "bar-only" area closed at 10pm, whereas the "dining" area closed at 11pm. We didn't want to disrupt the dining crowd, but this was strange! Prices were on-par with the area, seating was comfortable, and everyone seemed nice - only the hours were the big deterrent for us. Decided to drive an hour to St. Joseph on Labor Day, 2017, since it was a warm day with intermittent clouds and a slight wind. Went to RyeBelles since we noticed that the rooftop was open and wanted to try it out. We are younger, but those older folks or anyone with a handicap for climbing stairs might not want to use the rooftop, as it is about three flights to get to the roof. There is an elevator that takes you to the main dining which is inside, but not to the roof, so keep that in mind. Not sure if we were to go left or right after getting to the top of the stairs, and out of breath, we went to the right, which was wrong. Turned around and went back to the left, but now several other people got ahead of us, (they must have known which way to go-could have used an arrow or two to prevent that from happening). The eating area, even at 2pm was full, and those that butted in front of us got the last bar seats, so we were forced to go back over on the other side and sit for up to a half hour for a table for 2. Oh well, as all that is taken in stride, and in less than 10 minutes, I got a text saying our table was ready. They accommodated us, got our drinks, and took our order with a smile. Very beautiful up there on the roof, so was not in a hurry to drink up and gobble food. Really a nice place, with a view of Lake Michigan, and everyone seemed to be having a great time. The background music was fine, but under these conditions, I think that they should have had some Caribbean music to make us feel like we were at some distant exotic location. Okay, the most important thing is the food. My wife ordered a chicken sandwich, and though usually leaves half of hers for me to finish, not so this time, since I got only one lousy bite of her sandwich. Was that ever an exquisite one bite-great sandwich. It didn't matter, since after eating my delicious hamburger, which must have been well over half a pound, I even had trouble getting that one bite down the hatch. This burger, which was right up there with the best, and due to the fact that it is cooked on a grill right outside on the roof, makes it a 5-star burger; with all the fix in's, was just outstanding. Both of us agreed that the French fries that came with our sandwiches, was very good and fresh-smaller fries but cooked just right. The coleslaw was not the greatest, but was good, since it was made mild-not too much of anything in it, but just a little of everything and a mild sauce. I ate all of it. All in all, it was worth the hour-long drive and the three flights of stairs--five stars. So, if you need a little exercise to get your hunger up, then head for the roof-top, otherwise you might want to check out and make sure that the main dining room is open before you try it. read more

I decided to check the St Joes beach for my birthday. It is always a nice beach to check out. Its about a 2 hour and 15 min drive from me. It replaced Mackinac because it was a chill 50 there today. My friend decided to take me to dinner and it was my choice. I saw this location, it was nice weather and there was rooftop seating so why not. When you come into the restaurant you are on the first level and you have to go upstairs to be seated on the roof. We were quickly seated at an umbrella table. Our waiter was great. Very personable, friendly and great guy. It was a great view as the beach and water is in the background. We decided to try one of the specialty drinks which was fruity and tasty. We decided on the calimari as an appetizer. They were well prepared. I decided to get the blackened Grouper topped with roasted red pepper aioli. It came with a salad, string beans and a choice of rice, fries or garlic mashed potatoes. I chose the garlic potatoes as i rarely get or have mashed potatoes. The Grouper was well seasoned, meaty and well prepared. The potatoes were great as well as the green beans. The only downside is that it was windy. This is not the restaurants fault just par for the course for sitting on the roof on a windy day. Good service, good food. I will definitely visit here if i am in the area again. read more

The location is great with a newly refurbished patio overlooking Lake Michigan. I've been here a couple of times while visiting St. Joe. The food has always been good, but today was an exception. Neither of our orders came complete - mine was missing cole slaw and neither order included the homemade chips. Bag chips were given with no explanation, so I asked the server. No homemade chips. My question however is why weren't we informed so another choice could be made. I did follow up with an order of fries. My friend requested grilled onions for his burger and they were not on his plate. Another wait. All our food was cool on arrival. The kitchen needs to step up it's game. Better information in the beginning is most helpful in making better decisions on what to order. Our server did comp the fries and a beer, so thanks for that. read more

Rooftop deck very nice, though most tables seemed a bit loose from the strong winds coming off the lake so be aware of the table moving and drinks almost tipping over. Overall the service was good but the food and drinks were underwhelming especially for the price. For $20 I got a Greek salad with grilled chicken. The portion was good, but had a sweeter Greek dressing that was oddly paired with a cilantro. For the $6 up-charge for the grilled chicken I got half of a filleted chicken breast.... Lastly, my Tito's and soda was $10 and had very little Tito's at all, lime was dried and brown, but had a fresh lemon. Experience was ok at the end. May or may not go back. read more

Went there on a beautiful Saturday evening after a day at the beach. Greeters were awesome and pleasant. Could've waited 45-60 min for rooftop or immediate seating on the side balcony, chose the latter. Still had a decent view of the lake and sunset. Server was very attentive, food was really good - had the shrimp appetizer and Lake a trout for dinner. Highly recommend, will be back. Had we known you can just by pass the hostesses at the check in and just slide up to bar we certainly would have aa the by passers usurped our place in the yelp reservation line. We stopped unexpectedly, without a reservation, and left pretty impressed! We were seated immediately (even without reservations) and had a very attentive waiter. Rather than splurging on expensive dinner entrees, we decided to split a Greek salad (plain, no added protein) and a Mediterranean pizza. The salad was a little bit underwhelming: just chopped greens, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, olives, sliced beets, and feta. The unexpected veggie for a Greek salad (beets?!) were fine, if you like beets. But the herbed dressing was almost nonexistent and the feta were dry crumbles that didn't have much flavor. A fresher feta would have been nice... but what the salad really needed was more and better dressing. We realized halfway through that we should have simply asked for extra; that might have made a big difference. So if you try the salad, be ready to ask for extra dressing if it seems dry...we doctored it up with some of the Parmesan and crushed red pepper meant for the pizza, which did help. SPEAKING OF THE PIZZA. We can only vouch for the Mediterranean, but it was excellent. Terrific crust (thin, tasty, great texture) topped with spinach, roasted tomatoes, chunks of marinated artichoke, diced bits of prosciutto, feta, and mozzarella. That there was no 'sauce' meant the crust never got soggy, and the salty array of colorful toppings could really shine. It was absolutely delicious. Splitting one salad and one pizza was a perfect-sized dinner for two. If we go back, we'll definitely make an evening reservation before sunset and ask for a table with a better view! read more

The staff is personable and professional. Our waitress, Carrie was very nice and provided recommendations. All dinner entrees come with side salad which is plentiful, rice or potatoes and vegetable. We ordered the firecracker shrimp appetizer, delicious! A little spicy, but not runny nose hot. I ordered the blackened grouper with easy spices and it was OK. Probably wouldn't order again. Overall, the restaurant is a good choice, but probably stick with some of the simpler items like salad and appetizers. We were at the restaurant last night. The menu was much more limited that what I have experienced in the past ( Covid related?). We ordered the steak special. The waitress told us we could only get the steak cooked one way (medium rare) because it was the only way the chef would cook it. So we had the steak and potatoes. The steak was extremely rare and the potatoes were watered down so that they ran across the plate. The whole meal was covered with a horrible mushroom gravy sauce. All in all a horrible meal. The the two steaks with two beers each for my wife and I was 150.00 with tip. Really not worth it. Side note, service was most excellent. Will not be back for awhile. read more

UNPROFESSIONAL and RUDE! Friday night my party of three arrived around 6:15. We were told by the hostess that it would be a 45-60 minute wait. And we were fine with that and understood as it was a Friday night. As we approached the one hour mark, a member of our party went up to see the hostess an inquire as to how much longer. The hostess would not even acknowledge his presence. However, she was seating everyone that just so happened to be at the bar. And she was advising everyone coming in to go to Silver Beach Pizza, The Buck, and 221 Main. So that's just what we did, we took our business to 221 Main. After an hour and forty minutes, we received a call asking if we were still interested in our table. When we politely responded no, we were hung up on. Click, nothing but silence, crickets on the other end of the line. What I find odd, is that when we checked in they said they would call or text when our table was ready. Yet when they called, they asked if we were still INTERESTED in our table. Is that because you originally told us it would only be a 45-60 minute wait, when in reality it was two hours? After we politely stated that we were no longer interested in our table and were rudely hung up on, this restaurant proceeded to send a text - asking us if we were still interested in our table. Definitely use the NoWait app for getting a seat on the rooftop. Hope that your timing is lucky enough to see the sunset. Order the bruschetta or caprese and whichever seasonal beer is on tap! Service is always friendly. Appetizers seem to take way longer than you'd expect, but worth the wait. We have lived in this town for approximately 3 months now, and we finally decided to stop in and try this rooftop eatery. My wife, myself, and another couple decided we would do a late lunch, stopping in early, as we often saw quite a crowd around this place on Sundays. We waited outside patiently at about 2:45, since the restaurant opened at 3:00. Finally, at about 3:10 they opened the front doors. Eagerly, but not deterred, we wandered up the stairs to the patio, where we were asked to wait in line, while the hostesses took their time ushering guests to their tables. Meanwhile... as we waited, to enter the rooftop outdoor dining area, we were huddled at the top of the stairs, with the door open since we were next to be seated when all of the sudden the owner (his hostess ratted him out to us) yelled at us to 'keep the door closed, we aren't paying to air condition the outside...' Sorry sir, we apologize on behalf of your hostesses, not allowing us to stand outside; although I do remember seeing a bar, and quite a bit of waiting space. Maybe it was just me. Service was sub par, food was not made as ordered, waitress was sweaty (I know it is outdoors, but... yuck). One of the most consistent and delicious places for an upscale lunch and dinner in Saint Joe. The prices are a bit high if you are not used to resort town pricing - however their pricing is exactly inline with other establishments and the quality is better. Come her for delicious American fare, with a variety of options from seafood to pasta to fancy pizzas. If it is a Friday or Saturday in the summer, be prepared to take up to 90 min for a table with view on the roof . read more

Excellent! Very accommodating for those with dietary restrictions! I'm vegan and that can be a challenge when visiting St Joe. I had the vegetable pizza without the cheese and added extra sauce. Delicious! On top of that the Hummus we had to start the meal was pretty dang tasty.
