Cute little french Quarter dive bar. Nice booths, lighting. We stopped in for a little Irish Coffee roadie, which was advertised on an A-frame outside. Upon ordering, it took them 20 minutes to brew a pot of coffee. While I do believe and respect that bartending in New Orleans requires grit and a bit of sass, I thought the service here was a bit misanthropic. Either way, it was a good drink and a clean bar, I'd certainly stop in again. read more

A great "Irish" bar that nobody really knows about that happens to have a great beer selection at a great price. They have a great draft beer lineup that includes alot of local beers. This place is often a stop on our bike rides because its one of the few bars we like in the quarter thats not trying to rip you off. read more

I was thrilled when I found this spot because it was my best friend's bachelor weekend and the perfect way to get the Friday started. It's quite an old spot with an Irish pub feel. They had a few gambling machines that some of my friends partook. We had seltzers and beer to get things started and took some photos because it's "the best fucking Irish bar in the world". I can only imagine this place next weekend. I will be coming back here one day and getting toasty. The help was great and there's plenty of seating. read more

It's a bar, it's in the quarter - of course it's dark and loud but. It's owned by a real Irish man, they have Smithwiicks "Smitticks" and Guinness. I prefer the red ale. Great bar with comfortable booths a jukebox and plenty of tvs to see all the games. Go check this place out we ended up here 2 nights in a row and loved it. read more

Fantastic selection of beer and spirits, fantastic service, fantastic prices, and a fantastic ambiance. Come to Ryan's when you're tired of paying too much for mediocre drinks and the alcohol-fueled stupidity of the bars on Bourbon Street. This is my go-to place in Nola. read more

Ryan's is my go to for a properly poured Guinness and so my dude can watch whatever game is on. Irish car bombs are $5. Full bar and service is straightforward. It's on the main drag so the place definitely gets rowdy but I love day drinking for a game here. One of the few places you can almost always pop into a booth with a group also which I like. read more

Friendly staff but only one non alcohol beer and not even one made by Guinness so that is disappointing. It is time bars start to think of the people who for a variety of reasons do not drink alcohol. I would have given one star except for the staff who was nice about it and apologized. read more

I like how every city has a Ryan's. It may not always bear the same name, but there is an Irish pub that has the same characteristics. New Orleans' version of that did not disappoint. My first night here was all about discovery. I had no particular destination in mind when I left my hotel and no plan on what to do for my evening. I knew Bourbon Street was nearby but I didn't want my New Orleans experience to be nothing but Bourbon Street. While out with friends we decided to venture down Decatur Street, and we were not disappointed. After a few stops here and there we happened upon Ryan's. I'm always up for a good pub experience no matter where I go. Whether it be in the UK or a small town in Pennsylvania. Walking in it was what I expected. Nothing flashy but there was warmth coming from this place, and it wasn't just the humidity from outside. We went right up to the bar and asked what was good and on tap. With a smile the bartender ran through the list without even giving it a second thought. My friend got a half and half, which the bartender did a perfect pour on. I decided to try the Summer Shandy they had on tap. Great choices, at least we thought. We then headed over to a high top table and drank those down. I took in my surroundings and had a pleasant time. The decor is Irish, or course, maps, crests, etc. Seems to be a great place to catch a ballgame as well. They have signs that says they will have all ballgames playing, if I remember correctly. read more

The rudest bartender I have ever met. She has insulted half the customers I the bar and I literally think she thinks it's cool to treat people like s....! I just wanted a drink and she has ignored us for 20 minutes while literally telling people to fuk off because they had to wait! It's embarrassing! I will never set foot in here again. I'm a local I'm not a tourist! Just a joke for a bartender who thinks she is special because she is working! She has possessed off about half of the people here with the attitude! read more

Some of the worst service I have had in so long ...Two girls bartending (one was lovely and polite other rude and short) could not even pour a pint of Guinness correctly! Gave me a pint of Smithwicks that was end of barrel and when I pointed it out she was upset she had to change it and then when came up she took half of old beer and ran the new keg into the glass which if you can bartend you know is all head until it ran up the top of glass ..worst pint ...luckily other bartender was nice and replaced it after I pointed out the issue ...Grumpy bartender then goes over to her boy within earshot of myself and my wife and proceeds to bash us that we know nothing about beer ect ect ..not many quality bar staff left ...Shame I would have stayed here longer if it was not for this as it is a nice spot ! read more

St Patrick's Day all day, this pub was a magnet for happy, pleasant people, enjoying the outdoor environment. I didnt go inside, but several said it was very nice and friendly environment. I suspect those wearing-o-the-green were even more cheerful as they imbibed. read more

I meannnnnn a great alcohol and beer selection, awesome bartender (hey CAROLYN!), regulars, nice tourists and multiple tv's. Ryan's Pub is just a great bar all around. It's a plus it's in walking distance to many food places and attractions. You can bring in outside food and there's actually an agreement with the seafood restaurant neighbors where they'll deliver your order to the bar! (They have great oysters, fyi) Can you say "winning!"??!!! Also, when i used to work at the Westin Hotel, I'd recommend Ryan's for a venue to watch the NHL games; being that New Orleans isn't a hockey city but Ryan's comes through in the clutch and air "all hockey games", as advertised at the entrance. read more

This is my wife and I's all around favorite bar in New Orleans. It's very clean, they have a huge beer selection and other good drink specials like $5 Irish car bombs if you're out to get pie-yah'd. If you're coming from canal street and headed down Decatur there's no reason not to make this one of your first (or last) stops. read more

We stopped in here after another New Year's Eve party was kind of dull and we were happy to find a good crowd, a good beer selection and generous seating. This is more a sports bar than an Irish pub, but the folks are really friendly and they have some of my favorite beers on tap, so I was happy. There are plenty of tvs, so it would be a good place to watch a game and the drinks are reasonably priced, considering the location. The bartender was nice and the place is pretty clean. read more

I've been to Fahy's a few times for drinks and pool with local friends in the last year or two. Generally great prices and people. However, I came by last night, Sunday, April 26th, 2026, for pool on my own for the first time as a lone woman, around dusk. The earlier bartender when I arrived was a nice, attentive gentleman I've seen before who knew his stuff and handled things! I warmed up on the pool table, and then played my first pool game with a man who, unfortunately, got very aggressive in his speech with me, suggesting things like "women need to bend to men like good females should on the pool table", accused me of cheating, and then uncomfortably questioned me about dating unrelated men I did not know there who were playing on the second pool table. The hostility disturbed me, but I finished our pool game, in which I lost in fairness, and then he refused to shake hands, be cordial, and continued to cause a scene interpersonally around the tables. I would love for problems to have ended there. But... I left the pool tables concerned after this encounter, while he lingered, and I tried to talk with the new bartender who started the late shift a bit after, a young woman with long dark hair, who started bartending around 8 or 9pm. I tried to tell her, at the edge of the bar alone, as I ordered another drink, that there might be an aggressive man over by the tables, and I just wanted to say that, in my own words to her-- to the bartender in charge, on record PRIVATELY, woman to woman , in case he kept being aggressive with me-- that this might continue to be a problem, and that I hoped he wouldn't keep being weird with me, because I wanted to stay and keep drinking and playing pool with others respectfully. The bartender did not listen to my concern about a what happened with any basic neutrality or professionalism. She cut me off loudly at first, and yelled, "DO YOU WANT ME TO CALL YOU A CAB???" -- with zero awareness, as if I was some dumb drunk tourist lost from Jazz Fest, and despite me being a local resident with my own transportation, and with a bar tab still open. What's worse, at this same time, there was a man sitting at the bar next to me, who was more of a regular at Fahy's than me apparently, who overheard my one-on-one disclosure to the bartender. This second man interjected on my private conversation, and condescendingly accused me of lying as a woman making up a "problems" at "his bar". The bartender uncritically accepted this intrusion on my conversation. She further encouraged more of this "local" customer group to gang up on me, belittle me, and to physically get in my face as a lone woman for attempting to privately complain about unacceptable male behavior, while the bartender claimed, "that's my regulars", suggesting that I was the problem and that I needed to leave. I did not want any further attention from others over the issue, and yet she unprofessionally encouraged other patrons to interact with me when I was concerned. Are bartenders supposed to escalate violent "mob mentality" behavior with their customers to protect one creepy drunk? Is this an appropriate standard for a bar, and as if New Orleans businesses should function as high school popularity contests with a teenage level of maturity while intoxicated? Again, as a bartender and professional myself, I know how to handle and mediate a private complaint, and Fahy's staff this last Sunday night showed the absolute worst way such a situation could have been handled. The bartender in the later hours had absolutely no professionalism nor discretion with my concern for misogynistic behavior that concerned me as a woman, and which I tried to keep private, and in which I wanted to not disturb her bar in general. I really hope other bartenders here don't handle patrons' concerns in such a dangerously dismissive manner. The point is, bars with pool tables will attract problems. It's up to a bar's management if they're capable of being responsible for it and maintaining a respectful culture for all. As a local who used to recommend friends to swing by Fahy's as a rare, relatable, and reliable dive bar in the quarter, I will not do so again. Why would I spend my hard earned money again, or tell others to, in such an unsafe, rude environment? Fahy's needs to get its bartenders and security tight because what I experienced as a female local pool lover and drinker was NOT OKAY.

I changed my order to a flavored vodka - they don't stock any. I ended up ordering a Vodka & 7, but received a Vodka Soda. Were the drinks cheap? Not so much. Was the service friendly? Not so much. I ordered food hoping this was the redeeming feature of the bar. I ordered a steak sandwich at $18 - the service time was quick but the sandwich didn't have much flavor - it was a dry, difficult to bite through thin steak with not much flavor to speak of. The tater tots were crispy and hot and I loved the Brussel Sprouts; they were doused excessively in the dressing but I liked it. There is a nice patio out back - they had fans in this area which is always appreciated. This bar just didn't have the stock and amenities that many other bars in the area do have . Walk to magazine street for better options.
