I was here on Wednesday because of what I thought was a swollen lymph node and fever. I ended up having a blocked parotid gland that was causing infection. I was in extreme pain, and everyone who I came in contact with here was so nice and helpful. The PA, Rebecca Hill, I had seen was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. She referred me to an ENT in the area and when I called back a few days later about increasing pain and she wasn't in, she called me later that day when she was in the office to make sure I was doing alright. Rx Urgent Care was not my original destination. I was planning to go to Wake Med Accent Care, but they were really congested and short-handed. My preferences before that had closed early. So, I ended up at Rx Urgent Care and hoped for the best. My accidental destination started out very nicely with the receptionist being such a sweetheart and quickly went downhill from there. Heather at the front desk told me it would be about a 15 minute wait. A 15 minute wait is almost unheard of in an urgent care, but maybe they were moving people pretty quickly and a patient was on his/her way out the door so I would be right after the other person in the waiting room. My 15 minute wait quickly turned into an hour. When the nurse brought me in to the room she told me where I could set my things and sit. I prefer to sit in the chairs because I find the examination tables to be uncomfortable. I was practically scolded for that because it wasn't easy for her to do her orientation assessments that way. So, I quickly moved to the table. I noticed right away that the step covering was coming unraveled and that I could hear just about everything being said in the examination room to my left. I was shocked and pointed the noise out immediately. She was amused and said this was why she usually spoke quietly. After having my blood pressure and temp taken she left. Then the conversation next door got really loud and I was really uncomfortable overhearing another patient's explanation of his problems so I walked out and told the receptionist I couldn't stay in that room. She told me to just go back to the waiting room. Less than 10 minutes later, I was called back in and met with a lady who is shadowing the PA. I don't recall her name, but she was very calm, confident, and seemed ready to listen. I gave her my explanation - chest pains and severe headache. I figured it could be stress, but since I was not interested in having this continue I thought it was safer to get checked out. Then Matt Schwanke, the PA-C, came in and made me restate everything all over again. He also spoke very loudly. I was already uncomfortable with the lack of privacy. I pointed this out immediately and he said they had not designed the building, but their lease was with the space and that was how it was. I questioned whether that was even ethical, but he didn't seem interested in hearing my complaint. In fact, I felt like he saw me as a nuisance for being so adamant about that and assurance that no one else was left in the adjacent rooms. I asked if he could speak softer since I had a headache and he seemed slightly amused at that responding, "Well this is how my voice is." I literally almost walked out, but I'd waited long enough and didn't feel like starting all over again at another facility. When he went to examine me I noticed that much of the floor was dirty and a part near the examination table was rusted. Then I wondered how often they mop the floors... See attached photos. Matt, the PA, advised that he would have an EKG done. There I was with the nurse coming back in rather awkwardly with the EKG machine. She told me to take my shirt off. Never in my life have I been told, at a doctor's office, to just take my shirt off. Usually, they provide a smock or some other cover-up and uncover only what is necessary to maintain a sense of care, modesty, and respect. Not so. I protested and she found some half piece of cover up that is probably made for a child. I may be able to wear kid-sized shirts sometimes, but I'm a grown woman. She left so I could cover up and upon her return didn't seem to do much to respect that I'd even asked for a cover up. I asked how an EKG worked. She shortly responded, "It reads the electricity from your heart." That's it. That's all the response I got. I was uncomfortable so a couple minutes later I asked how long it would take. Her response, "Not long, but for you it will take longer since chest pains are your primary complaint." Did not answer my question. I asked how quickly she'd get responses and she told me that it would be immediate. Then she walked out and the door was left gaping wide open while I clutched the paper smock to keep myself from being exposed. Shortly later, Matt re-entered. He didn't have any answers for me, but requested I go get some lab work done and follow up with a primary care doctor. He said that I didn't have pneumonia. When I said I'd never had pneumonia, just as a response, he smartly said, "Well, there's a first time for everything." There certainly is. I have always avoided chain doc-in-the box places like Concentra, NextCare, and Rx Urgent Care because of how poor the service is. They rush you in and out like cattle. This experience just emphasized that sentiment. I would never go to this place again, for the fact that there's a lack of privacy, as one main reason alone and I would never recommend it to anyone. read more

As an employee at a WakeMed facility, I was very disappointed in the customer service that I received at the reception area. I was being pro-active and approached the window to put on a mask, due to me experiencing flu symptoms and the receptionist was very rude to me. I can't even identify her by name because she was not even wearing her badge. I assumed all Wakemed employees had to wear their badge at all times according to the policy. Talking about patient confidentiality, the receptionists asked loudly why they were being seen. Everyone in the waiting area didn't need to know why someone was being seen.They both continued to discuss their lunch ideas and menus.I actually waited a couple of minutes when checking out because one of the receptionist was ordering their lunch. While I was putting on my mask, she rudely instructed me on how to put the mask on, even though I wear one daily I'm ok with that,she was doing her job, however, I watched several patients come in after me and she never told any of them how to wear their masks that they put on. I saw at least 3 patients with their masks on not worn properly. This was a disappointment to me and I will not visit this location again. read more

I went in there already knowing that I had a stomach bacteria that had created an ulcer. The brunette woman, or I should say girl, at the front desk was extremely rude and condescending when I explained that I probably needed a blood test and then an antibiotic. She said that they couldn't help me in the rudest way. I am sitting at Rex express care now and they are in the midst of kindly helping and treating me. Don't go to RX Urgent care! I went here yesterday for what I believed to be bronchitis. Everyone on the staff was very kind and extra cautious because of how bad the flu is this year. The PA I saw (Ryan I think?) was kind and considerate, asked for my preferences in treatment and was very specific about follow up care. I am very impressed with the professionalism I saw here. read more

Wish I would have read the reviews first. What a waste of money and time. I had been sick ( congested, bad ear pain, achy, sore throat, cough) for 4 days before going here. I arrived around 12 noon (bad move) and no one was in waiting room ( I thought great, this should be pretty quick). They moved me into a room, took stats and waited for PA. Around 1:10 she comes in and explains she had to eat lunch (she's the only one there), says there is water on my ears and it will run its course. Take some oc stuff for congestion and that's it. Do not go here! The reception people are nice but it ends there. I had the PA tell me, after I came in to follow up with a workers comp injury, "We can't have people continue to follow up here just because of a little bit of pain." Screw that! I injured my neck in a car accident and was following up as instructed by the other PA I saw the week before. read more

Terrible. This urgent care office "closes" at 8pm. Just kidding! They close whenever the doc doesn't feel like seeing any more patients around the end of the day! I arrived at 7:35pm with a basic case of swimmers ear. Easy, right? Unfortunately, the doc in the back felt he already had enough patients to deal with (there was only one other person in the waiting room). The gal behind the counter agreed I'd be an easy fix, so she went and asked the doc if he could go ahead and see me (7:40pm). But alas, the male doc was already pooped and needed a nap, so I was told sorry, bye bye! Zero other urgent care centers opened past 8pm in the area. This doc knew he was waving me off to a night of pain....COOL! Thanks, sleaze ball! read more

I'll never come back to this place. Been twice. PA would not and did not give me the proper medicine to cure what was wrong with me. When I complained, PA gave me 1/3 of the correct medicine I needed. Did not cure me. PA is playing God. I've had this problem for 30 years and I know what medicine and how many days and dosage I need to stop the ailment and cure it. read more

Went here today for an urgent care matter and the nurse and doctor were wonderful! I never felt rushed, and all of my questions and concerns were answered. The doctor on staff was easy to talk to and has an excellent beside manner! Urgent Cares are usually busy on weekend, but I didn't have to wait that long maybe 20 minutes before I was seen. If I need to go to urgent care in the future I will definitely go here. read more

The nurses and administrative staff were amazing and very friendly! Also the time to be seen was short. I arrived at 4:00 and was out by 4:30. My only real complaint and it's a big one, was the p.a. I was seen by didn't seem to listen to me or act interested in what was going on. He didn't even barely examine me. He didn't want to answer questions without a sour tone. read more

This is my first ever Yelp review and I usually do not waste my time writing reviews but I feel this may help someone in the future to avoid this place especially if you are hurt or ill. I also wish I had read the reviews that are already posted prior to becoming a patient here. I went to Rx Urgent Care because I am new to the area and my primary care physician is 3 hours away. As I approached the entrance I thought I was in the wrong place because there were two people working on the door. I asked could I get in and I was looked at like I was inconveniencing them. Then as I waited to speak to the receptionist she was too worried about swapping keys with the men working on the door which turned out to be more than just a simple task. I handed the receptionist my insurance information and ID. The receptionist quickly asked, "Do you know that your copay is $100?" I found this to be very unprofessional and insulting. I am very aware of my copays and I wouldn't have been there if I didn't need medical attention. When I was taken to the back the patient before me in the exam room was still in the exam room. I had to stand and wait in the hallway for him to exit. I then watched as no one sanitized anything in the room after he left. I can only hope he wasn't there being treated for the flu. I was then triaged by the nurse, which turned out to be the easiest part of my experience. Then in walks the PA. Becky Moore. Ms. Moore turned out to be very incompassionate, condescending and all the way around very unprofessional. I explained my situation to her in detail. I informed her that I have to see my PCP every 12-14 months for this pain. I informed her of the medications that my PCP usually prescribes that alleviates this pain within 3 days. I was then asked by Ms. Moore if I had a problem with opioids. As a medical professional myself I completely understand that there is an ongoing opioid epidemic in this country. Fortunately, I do not suffer from addiction. I only use pain medication for medicinal purposes when they are prescribed by a medical professional. Yes, believe it or not, pain medication can still be used without someone becoming addicted! I was then informed that I would get a muscle relaxer that I had already explained doesn't work well for me. I figured at this point it was a lost cause to explain or express anything else to Ms. Moore as she was completely inattentive to anything I had to say to her and continued to be condescending. At this point, I just wanted anything that would relieve my pain so I could get back to performing daily life task so I took what she gave and left with no intentions of ever returning. In conclusion, I am still in pain and miserable. I hope everyone steers clear of this urgent care and hopefully one day when Ms. Moore can finally pay back her student loans she will change her attitude and bedside manner. read more

I went here on Monday, and came away thinking "that was a painless experience". I say that because my last Urgent Care experience in Holly Springs took forever. I had 30 minutes of paperwork to fill out, and still had to wait a while to be seen. On Monday, the paperwork was minimal, the wait was minimal, the two people who saw me were very good, they gave me a proper diagnosis, and they prescribed the necessary medications. Two stars because they prescribed me correct meds before lab test came back. (I knew what was wrong and was unable to get a quick appt with regular doctor) so two stars for listening. Bedside manner was not good. They required a female exam. I undress from waist down and put the paper cover over said area, sat on exam table and waited. I did not unfold paper but still was covered up. Nothing exposed. PA and nurse entered the room and PA exclaimed "well that's great to walk into! You do realize this cover folds out right? " again, nothing was exposed. I replied that I'm not bothered by it and she said "well i am" and proceeded to cover me to her comfort level. Again nothing was exposed and so what if it was, she was about to see it all anyway! The cloth was over my lap just not all fanned out. I don't know her name but she had red hair. Plus front desk girl had a bubble gum chewing hood rat vibe. It was just a weird uncomfortable experience all around. I only waited an hour though. read more

Please go anywhere but here. They are slow, but it seems like there was a happy gathering in the break room while I waited, waited and waited. And I had seen all the other patients come and go. Furthermore, I found out the treatment was wrong, after finally getting in touch with my doctor the following day. And the place was dirty. Just go somewhere else. I thought they were associated with Rex. The name "Rx Urgent Care" made me assume that. This is a low quality, incompetent operation. read more

I have been going to Rx Urgent Care for many years when I have minor situations needing medical care (seasonal allergies, cold, sore throat). The staff is absolutely wonderful and care about treating you, but not just rushing you out the door. I have never had an experience that required a long wait time. Sometimes it is not as easy to get in to see my regular doctor, but I know that I will have great treatment at RxUC. I just wish the hours were a little later in the evening, especially on weekends. read more
