This gym is great for kids and birthday parties…read more Unfortunately, I am not a kid and it's not my birthday. I climb regularly and this gym has nothing to offer me. The routes never change and the movements are boring and don't flow well. The younger staff members are very nice and knowledgeable, but once when I visited a man (staff) was belaying one of the girls on the team and he kept agtagonizing her by whipping the rope and letting her slip, even though she pleaded for him to stop. I have not observed this method of "motivating" young climbers before and it doesn't seem to be very effective. Anyway, it stopped me from asking the nice man if he would belay me too. After 5 or 6 visits to this gym over the course of 4 months, I won't be back.

THE COACHES, they push and push you some more, they encourage you, they work so hard! You walk into the doors of the Junkyard and you can expect consistency, you can expect to work hard and you can expect to walk out feeling like you got your butt kicked but wanting to come back for more! I walked into this gym two years ago and about 50lbs heavier. I didn't really know what to expect, I just knew I wanted to make a change, I was happy with myself and I wanted more. My previous work outs had been at the YMCA and I would just kind of go through the motions, never really saw any results. My first workout at the JY was hard, so hard I thought I might quit but then the coaches are there motivating you, pushing you, telling you that YOU CAN DO IT! And you know what? YOU CAN DO IT and do it again! This gym has built a community, one I'm proud to be apart of! If you have heard about how hard the classes are and you are thinking I'm not in shape enough, I can't go..Or it's too hard for me..Or I'm not a college student, I couldn't keep up.. None of that is true, this gym is for all ages, all body types, all fitness levels. You start on your level and you work to improve yourself, you get faster, you get stronger..at your own pace! The person beside you on the treadmill might be faster than you but let that motivate you to work harder! There's no excuse to not try one class because I promise after you go once, you'll be coming back for more! Don't let the fear of walking through the door stop you from trying it && if you need someone to go with, I'll go with you! I don't recommend being late though (I am working on that.) idr my coaches name but Gracie at the front was super cool. And the owner of the food bar was super sweet too. So all around good vibes. The coaches met her where she was and helped her develop and feel confident and she enjoyed her classes. I had another child start in the parent tot class and is now 10 years old and has been on a gymnastics team for the past 3 years. She absolutely loves ECG and they are so supportive and give opportunities for make-up classes. The owners are fair and push the kids while ensuring it stays fun. I recently arranged a boat rental with Big Water for an assorted group of family members. Some of…read morethese people can be pretty vocal about their feelings, and NOBODY had anything bad to say! From the first employee we encountered at the gate (very nice young lady who gave good directions) to the last everyone was friendly, professional and helpful. The boat (pontoon) was clean, in good repair, and powered by a Mercury engine. I mention this because Mercury engines have a longstanding reputation for reliability. So, one less thing to worry about. I should also mention that my wife is disabled, so getting into the boat was a little more difficult for her. The employees at Big Water didn't hesitate to come to her aid and make the process as easy as possible. It was a small thing, but it meant a lot to us! Lake Hartwell was beautiful, and I would absolutely rent from Big Water again!
