MC Fence And Deck - Old hardware re-installed on new gate

MC Fence And Deck

(8 reviews)

The crew first arrived late in the afternoon and worked briefly before leaving the project unfinished. They later returned again late in the day and completed the gates after dark. After reviewing the work in daylight, I noticed several items did not match what I understood was included in the agreement. Existing hardware was reused rather than replaced. The posts that were supposed to be reinforced with additional concrete were not secured. A post on a neighboring fence was replaced without prior discussion. An old post was also left leaning against my fence. I contacted the company about these concerns and was told they would be addressed. A crew later returned, but there was disagreement about the scope of work. I requested follow-up from management. I was later informed that another crew would be arranged, but I have not received further communication. Based on my experience, I recommend carefully reviewing the scope of work, documenting all agreements in writing, and inspecting the completed project thoroughly before finalizing payment.

Do NOT recommend. We…read morehired MC Fence in October 2021 based on strong recommendations from local residents, but our experience has been frustrating from start to finish. At the quote, I requested a front fascia board and was told they would "definitely try to make it happen." It never was. The finished fence didn't match the look we discussed--especially the rounded gates, which we never approved. When we complained, they returned to "fix" it using the same poor materials. We even asked if a tree stump near the fence line would be an issue--they said no. Turns out it was, and now the area looks awkward and poorly planned. Customer service was terrible. We only got a call months later, when the finance company wouldn't release the funds until we confirmed we were satisfied. This was in early 2022--after multiple ignored messages from us and even a portion of the fence being smashed by a neighbor's tree during a blizzard. When someone finally came out, we were told the original salesperson had been fired for making promises he couldn't keep. They "cut us a deal" to repair the storm-damaged section for $1,000--which was absurd, considering we paid $20,000 for the entire fence across one acre. Over the years, things have only gotten worse--bowed boards, sagging gates, and an unstable repair job. I've reached out many times with no response. In late 2024, I commented on social media warning others, and someone from the company reached out. He came to look at the fence and admitted it was built incorrectly--too low to the ground, causing moisture damage. He agreed it needed real repairs: the gates fixed, some boards replaced, and one section stabilized. After the holidays, he came back to say the company refused to do anything. That was it. I've emailed both the owner and the manager for months with zero response. MC Fence is completely unprofessional. They do not stand by their work or their word. Save yourself the time, money, and stress--go with someone else.

It was a pleasure working with All Squared Up. While they're a newly formed company, the…read morepartnership has decades of experience and plenty of references upon request. I'm delighted to be the first one to offer a review on this site. Our needs were simple. We wanted to have a maintenance free composite deck to replace our outdated wooden deck. Practically all the deck builders that we got quotes from were over $25K - $35K. These were WAY outside our budget. All Squared Up explained it like this. So many businesses after Covid, were charging more due to supply. Sadly for consumers many businesses never reduced their prices when supply disruptions were no longer an issue. There is also so much competition with composite material, prices are not high. Before you select a deck builder, based on the number of reviews on Yelp/Google, request a quote from All Squared Up. We highly recommend! Honest communication, commitment, with an equal dose of skilled perfection and honest pricing is what you can be assured to receive. p.s. After completing the deck, they re-did our side porch, making it composite too and reducing the step size. allowing the steps to be more shallow.

From the owner: Most companies say they are about quality but upon inspection of work they look more and more like…read moreproduction work. In this field the more you do in a day or week or a month the bigger the profit, so knock them out as fast as you can gain the profit and worry about cut corners when they arise. Instead of do it right the first time and make sure the homeowner is 100 percent happy the first go around and hope if at all call backs are minimal. Most big companies already have the name so now it's the money that keeps them going and the workers still receive the same pay no matter how poor their quality of work and the owners have enough revenue and resources to brush off small inconveniences. The small guys like me however without the big name or big company have to take pride in what we do because we know the quality provides the name and the revenue will follow in due time. A good name and quality go a good distance but a bad name and poor work travel much further. When you take pride in what you do and love every aspect of the project it's a passion not just a job. It's a living you love and not just an income.

JG Concrete & Construction

JG Concrete & Construction

Warning: Do Not Hire JG Concrete and Construction…read more I'm writing this to warn others about a terrible experience we had with **JG Concrete and Construction**, owned by a man named **Jose** -- who also goes by **Pedro** allegedly, possibly using a second identity. We later discovered he is **not properly licensed**, despite claiming to hold a Class A license. A search on **DPOR** (Virginia's license verification system) confirmed he is **not registered**, and the license may belong to someone else. We hired him to install a **12x20 concrete slab with steps**, a fairly simple job -- but what we got was a complete disaster: * The **slab was uneven** and **began cracking within a day** * **Water was pooling toward our home's foundation**, creating serious drainage issues * The **stamped concrete pattern was incomplete**, with missing lines and poorly formed joints * The **expansion joint** was uneven and improperly done * The slab was covered in an excessive amount of **orange powder**, which stained our yard and was tracked inside by our dog * He **left behind nails, screws, rocks, and deep tire marks** all over our yard * He **never returned to clean, pressure wash, or seal** the concrete * the stairs are uneven and slant to the left and the pitch is to far forward causing a tripping hazard. My pregnant wife and I where trying to scrub all the orange powered off everything. When we contacted him with our concerns, it took **over a week** to get a response. We even had another contractor inspect the work -- and they confirmed it was **so poorly done it would need to be completely demoed and redone**. Despite this, **Jose insisted everything was "perfect."** Jose even had the audacity to say he would remove it for $600. When it was his shabby work! Luckily, we only lost about **$800**, but the damage, stress, and cleanup were overwhelming. Final Warning: Do not trust JG Concrete and Construction. Look elsewhere if you need any concrete work done.
