I know having appointments during Covid can be challenging, so I try to cut business owners some…read moreslack. But this facility really dropped the ball during check-in. I saw the sign on the door telling their customers to call and let them know you've arrived, then wait in the car for them to allow you to enter. (We do something similar at my job.) I arrived early, by the way. Well, I did as instructed and called. No answer. I waited a few minutes and tried again. No answer. Then I tried another time as it was now getting close to my appointment time. No answer. I saw other people just walking in. I guess that sign was a suggestion? So I walked in and let the receptionist know that I had followed protocol and no one responded to me. She looked overwhelmed and didn't seem to have a grip on the her skills. (I also check in people at a front desk and it requires multitasking... sometimes I feel like an octopus handling several things at once.) Well, this poor woman was more like a sloth, sad to say. I waited another 15 minutes in the waiting room, now 45 minutes before I was called back. It was my first time here, and I didn't have a good first impression. Jessica took care of my procedure and that went fine. She walked me out and the receptionist who was supposed to take my payment was flustered and couldn't manage it so Jessica check me out and apologized. The stars are for the cleanliness, Jessica, and the price point. But if I were to review the overall efficiency of my experience, I'd give them one star. I found another office for my follow up.

However in the initial questionaire the Option of Self Payment is asked. That is because insurance does not cover marriage counseling as it is not viewed as a medical necessity and thus not covered. Further counseling is likely not done by medically qualified individuals - board certified physicians, psychiatrist etc. So in short be prepared for serious out of pocket expenses as you will likely be paying 100%. The question regarding Self Pay is very likely to weed out those expecting insurance assistance. I am sure they are professional and polite.  Just hope your needs for counseling is brief or income/savings sufficient.

Additionally, the tools we learned have also applied to our children. Specifically, we are teaching them to solve their own problems WITH each other in a way that is constructive. I will not tell you the process is easy--in fact, I think it gets worse before it gets better because you will not only tackle what's in front of you but past hurts and mistakes. In other words, you might draw up painful moments that makes the sessions and homework tough... on the positive side, once it is behind you and forgiven, it's behind you. Thank you Bob and Diane for not giving up on us. When they say they will be the last person to give up--they mean it!

Dr. Smith is phenomenal in helping people with multiple different diagnoses. For instance- in my…read moresituation, I have had multiple serious medical conditions that have made my life very hard. I also suffer from ADHD, and PTSD from childhood abuse. I have tried therapy multiple times and made no real progress. Perhaps one could argue that I wasn't ready. I would argue that I was ready but desperately needed a "safe place". He has given me that. He shows great empathy and his intuition constantly amazes me. Imagine being so close with someone that they already know your thoughts and your pain? This is NOT the psychic friends network! Because of Dr. Smith's due diligence (gathering case documents from my Neurologist, PCP, Hematologist, & other professionals) on my unique case he was able to avoid wasted time in the very beginning. Currently I have been seeing Dr. Smith for over two years and my progress has been nothing short of of amazing. He took on someone with multiple issues and due to his patience and willingness to wait until I was ready to open up and tell everything, he has literally saved my heart. When I came to him I was so broken, hurt, and in incredible pain. Today, I able to see things how the truly are and move forward with a healthy life. I never dreamed I could be in such a healthy, safe, and self progressive state. I would recommend him for abused women in particular. His insight, and the tools he has provided me have been so substantial that I honestly do not feel that I will not regress to that deep cold place that reminds me of the ugliness. If I am taken there with certain triggers, I now know exactly what do to. Aka...Mask of the Doctors wife...(married to another physician, who often wore a mask of happiness to avoid pain and shame). Also a shameless plug for my upcoming book! Did I say he was good? No longer wearing the mask!
