I've had two experiences with Greater Waterbury Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, and both were excellent. The first experience involved my 20 year old daughter. I brought her here for a consultation, on the recommendation of her primary care dentist, after he recommended that she should have her wisdom teeth removed. While Dr. Hillgen concurred, he also understood our concerns about timing, relative to her college schedule, and we did not actually have the procedure done until one year later. He and his staff were caring and competent throughout. My daughter had all four wisdom teeth removed without complications. More recently (March 2019), I saw Dr. Hillgen for evaluation of a tooth that the endodontists at UConn had told me was not salvageable, and recommended for removal. However, they would not have been able to do the work for another three months. I had a long history with this tooth, which was chronically infected. Dr. Hillgen saw me in the late afternoon. When I told him that I had reached a tipping point and was beyond ready to have it taken out, he and his staff stayed late, beyond their normal closing hours, to extract it that same day. My experience with Dr. Hillgen and every single staff member was that they were caring and professional. The office staff worked with me to get me in quickly, calling me when someone else's cancellation opened up a spot. I was able to email my x-rays to the Office Manager, who made sure that everyone who needed to see them had seen them even before they saw me. A wonderful staff member held my head and stroked my forehead while Dr. Hillgen and an assistant operated to remove the problem tooth. As to finances, the cost of removing this tooth was actually comparable to what the UConn Clinic would have charged, and I was able to pay for it in two installments. The office staff was sensitive to my finances. I did not ask for a price reduction, but they volunteered that I could pay for it in two installments. I would recommend this group without any reservations.

I had an abscess molar that needed root canal. We discussed and agreed we would replace the crown after the root canal rather than attempt to keep the old crown. There would also be a need for 2 more appointments. One for him to implant a supportive post and the final to secure the New crown. I believe we agreed on $1500 for his work and whatever the crown costs. Well he did the root canal and resolved my PAIN Thank God ... Then put the old crown back on until the new crown came in. On the day of the second appointment he called me and cancelled 1 hour prior to the Saturday appointment, citing his allergies had gotten worse. After that HE DISAPPEARED !! No communiques after that ... I went to the office only to find it locked and there were cards in the door that others had left asking when he would return. To this Day ... 5/24/17 ... The phone line rings to an "out of service" message and there is no sign of Dr Victor Chueng anywhere ?? One time I was able to watch two full movies before he called my name. On two occasions we got there and his door was completely locked with nobody in sight. We tried to contact him but with no success. He never, emphasis on *NEVER, picks up his phone because he has no receptionist and is always working on someone in the back room. He makes up excuses for why he's late/ flat out doesn't show up. I wouldn't recommend this dentist to anybody. Extremely unprofessional.

During covid, my back tooth cracked, a crown broke, it was just all not good. Going to see Dr. Salesky and his team was the smartest thing I've done. Judgement free and an amazing staff. The first thing he asked me is "what don't I like about my smile". At first I was a bit surprised since the back of my mouth needed help but I told him one of my teeth looks discolored. Well not only did Dr. Selensky and his team jump into action repairing the back teeth but before I left, he had adjusted the shade of my front area tooth and it was like a gift. Gentle, kind, patient and so very thoughful. That is for everyone in the office. They all go above and beyond. Simply amazing. My message: Don't be afraid, just call and I know you will feel the same way. I've been with him now for a few years and he takes his time discussing options, your choice always and while my teeth were not in amazing shape, I trusted him and today I left there with tears in my eyes because my smile had never looked better. You don't know how good it feels to smile until you haven't been smiling for a long time. Thank you to all of you at Southington Dentistry - keep making the world smile! The staff from check in to check out were great and the office was well put together and clean. What I'm disappointed in is the postoperative care we received by Dr. Fenton himself. After the procedure, my daughter had the normal post operative symptoms, especially from what I thought was post anesthesia side effects. Since that first day she has been running a fever and has been in extreme pain, again what I thought was normal. She has taken her dose of medications correctly and consistently and has only felt ok for a couple of hours throughout the day, by the evening her symptoms worsened. It is now 3 days later and we are in the Emergency Room due to a fever of 103.1 and tachycardia. Dr. Fenton was not sympathetic at all when he called me back yesterday morning and the reason I decided to bring her to the hospital. I tried not to call because we were following the instructions we were given and she was on top of her postoperative care but for some reason she has gotten worse instead of better. When I tried explaining that to Dr. Fenton at first he seemed ok but the more questions I asked the more annoyed he seemed to get with me. All I wanted was his professional opinion and if we are doing something wrong because when you know your children, you know them and my daughter was not ok. When I left the message I made sure I mentioned that she has history of seizures and that's why I was concerned about the fevers she was getting his response from as "well that's something that should've been mentioned, it's not in the chart." That is something we never forget to mention. He basically said she was dramatic because of her age (teenager), she's 18 not 13. I even tried to tell him I understood what he was trying to explain to me because I also work in the medical field and deal with postoperative care weekly but that seemed to set him off. He told me he did not care about what my background was and that he didn't need to talk with me about that but all I was doing was letting him know I understood but there's something wrong with my daughter. He told me to talk with her primary care doctor and to keep hydrated and he was also chuckling like if it wasn't a serious matter. I have never dealt with this kind of situation with a professional in my life. I have worked in the medical field since 18yrs old and never came across a MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL like I did Dr. Fenton. We are in the ER getting testing done and temporary treatment until we find out what is going on and have proof of it all. What was suppose to be good Doctor Patient care turned into what felt like I was bother to his Sunday morning. I wish we could've experienced the type of care I read on these other reviews because that is NOT the same doctor I spoke with. All I wanted was him to be understanding and reassure me that everything was ok but it feel that way. It's important to make sure your patients are doing ok after surgery especially when it comes to the mouth. I will never recommend anyone to that place, don't let the nice office and staff fool you because the man behind that is anything but sympathetic and professional, I should've realized that the moment he walked in and didn't introduce himself before getting my daughter started for the procedure, he just got straight to the point

I cringe when I have seen commercials for implants that say teeth in 24 hours because it is vital to have professionals who will thoroughly and accurately evaluate if the patient qualifies for an implant. It is in the best interest of the patient to understand the process from start to finish because it is much more than drilling a hole and then capping the implant with a prosthetic tooth. He is extremely personable as well as professional.
