I went to Jen several years ago because I loved how she cut my sister's hair. (we have thick,…read morestraight hair.) Jen also worked with me to achieve the color I was looking for - I'd been trying to go back to my natural color, and the salons in Chicago just weren't getting it. Though I live in LA now, I was home visiting and on a whim, called Jen to ask for an appointment. I've been wanting shorter hair, and Jen delivered an adorable, versatile cut that fit my face and my styling abilities. I've since been back for another cut and I'll be returning to SOCAL with gorgeous hair. Thanks Jen!

If you are looking for someone to color/cut your hair then you have found the right place! I had…read morethe lucky fortune to be recommended to Ashley 3 years ago by a friend and I have never looked back since. I'n addition to being a kind, compassionate, funny, and amazing person - Ashley is phenomenal at what she does. If I ever won the lotto, the first thing I would do is steal her to be my personal stylist wherever I go. I have had a LOT of different hairstylists and colorists of the years, so I can genuinely say that she is the best of the best. When making a decision about who should be allowed to help you be your best self...there is no decision - Ashley is the best and the only option.

So, I needed a haircut as I was a god damned hippy. After several months, I finally decided to get…read morethe top cut off. I had been having Jen widen it as it was too narrow before, and now it's all one length, which is nice. Got in, got cut, got out. Went to the house to go shower and get all the little hairs off, and for the first time in months, put some product in my hair. So, I needed to stop and get some smokes for outside things, and I stop at the gas station right across the street. The girls working say something to the effect of "I love your hair, my son would love to have a cut like that". So, I reply "thanks, I just got it cut", and they are like "ohhh, fresh!" and I say, "yep, right across the street" and point to your place. Then they discuss wanting to go watch duck dynasty... for some reason.

I'm the sort of person that typically goes to a discount chain hair salon for his haircut: Borics,…read moreSupercuts, cost cutters, etc. I decided to give this local shop a try this time, and I'm not disappointed. The stylists that own and operate this place used to work at the Boric's in Urbana (next to the county market), and they are pretty good at what they do. I was surprised to see them in this place, since I knew they are both good at what they do. The difference, of course, is that here they don't have to pay the franchise fee, which could be as high as 60%! The result was that my stylist (Jenny, which I highly recommend her work) took her time and paid lots of attention to what she was doing to my hair, while I always felt rushed when going to Borics, super cuts, etc. with lots of machine cutting. They make a point to keep their prices the same as national chains, so an adult haircut is $13, which is very reasonable. They run coupons in local magazines and ads, and Jenny told me that they would even accept competitor coupons as long as it brings them business. One small point: It's better if you call and make an appointment. You can walk in of-course, but they give preference to people with appointments. I'll call in next time before I go there.

But I…read morefound it, and as long as H2O will have me as a customer, I'll definitely be happy with each haircut. I picked Maggie based off her Bio on the website, as she is specializing in short haircuts, and boy, did she do a great job. I was treated unprofessionally and disrespectfully by the receptionist, whose name I think is Aiden…read more(he's a white trans man). I booked an appointment with this salon, had my appointment confirmed, and then showed up on time. When I showed up to my appointment, Aiden told me that my booking was a mistake/that nobody was available to cut my hair. Please understand that I would have no problem with an honest mistake, and I would not be upset if this situation was handled with any sense of apology from the business for playing with my time. However, it was apparent to me based on Aiden's demeanor that it had not been a "mistake", because he was not even remotely apologetic, and he made absolutely zero effort to even ask if I wanted to reschedule/to retain me as a customer; he simply insinuated I had to leave. I believe Aiden refused to service me when he saw who I was (I have never interacted with him in real life, but we have seen each other on Grindr; I had no idea he worked here, and regardless it didn't matter to me, because I came to get my hair cut, not to interact with any human being in particular). Why is the receptionist choosing who is allowed to get their hair cut here based on their personal baggage? It's a shame I have to leave this one star review, because I was looking forward to discovering a new hair salon. For all I know, perhaps the actual hair stylists are great.

They ruined my eyebrows twice. First time Hannah Quigg made…read morethem asymmetric and colored them in a strange way - with gaps, also she did new contour, but I didn't need and didn't ask for this. Then I decided to give second chance to this salon and came to Danny Pierce - senior stylist. And what do you think? He made my brows asymmetric. I think it's their signature. Also he refused to dye my brows and told they never did it. Strange. I did it in 1 month before I came to Danny. Not good at all.
