I tried to book a visit, but the phone didn't ring or connect, just hung in a slight buzzing static until I hung up. I went to the online booking site, which revealed availability pretty much every hour for the week, including in 30 minutes. Fine, I'll trust the reviews. I picked a time, and freaking booking site requires my credit information, even though it will not be used to charge me, That's a hard hell no. I'll use a random generic, who knows, site for booking an appointment, But how stupid would I have to be to offer it my credit card, just so it could have it? Now booking an appointment with another salon. Any other salon, actually. read more

Simply amazing! I have found my new stylist! Comfortable and cozy salon, super attentive and just all around wonderful. read more

Great hair cut. Angela took very curly hair that I'd been hacking at for about a year and created a lovely shape--not the easiest thing in the world to do. She definitely has curly hair chops, no doubt. And I particularly love my bangs. read more

You'll find none better in terms of skill and expertise and the bonus is they empower you to look your best because their expertise is second to none! It's an amazing salon, great vibe, great people, great hair as a result! read more

Angela did a great job with my post-pandemic hair (including fixing some unfortunate self-cut bangs) and also made my brows look terrific! Very relaxed and comfortable space. Highly recommend. read more

Angela was really good at understanding that the only reason I was sitting in her chair was because my mom made an appointment and gave it to me and my sister was paying to have my sparklies dyed away. It would be the first time getting my hair dyed since Mexico where my hair was dyed 2x after the colorist made me a blonde ala-Kardashian and I hated it. And then he dyed it again the next day back to my more naturally dark brown color. Essentially my hair was fried and ruined til it all grew out again. Flash forward 4 Year's and my family is having a family portrait done in Urbana and it was decided I should get my hair colored as all my older sisters have no grey hair, and I had tons. So this was what I told Angela and that I didn't want my dark brown hair to be blonde. And she actually heard me and did a rockstar job! Since I live in Chicago it's kinda inconvenient for me to travel to Urbana to get my color touched up, but I will keep trying! read more

If I could give 6 stars I would! I've been to a handful of the top-rated salons in town and have always gotten an "ok" haircut. I just recently got my hair cut by Angela, and it looks incredible-- it's the best haircut I have gotten since moving to Chambana 7 years ago! It's literally perfect. Angela is super nice and fun to talk to and I cannot emphasize enough how skilled she is at what she does. (: read more

Angela did such a lovely job on my hair color and gave me EXACTLY what I was looking for! I don't know if my photo does the results justice, but my boyfriend said "wow" when I came home, and we know men never notice hair changes . It was obvious that Angela is very skilled, as the process was so much faster than what I've experienced in other salons. Additionally the atmosphere at Ritual Salon is great with fun music and Angela's bubbly personality. Also with Angela being the sole stylist, I felt extra comfortable during COVID times. Would definitely recommend Ritual Salon!! read more

If you value your hair, you won't go. Anytime the owner tells you "hair grows back" at the end of the appointment, you know they messed up. Avoid at all costs and go somewhere with more reviews. Dont make the same mistake I did. read more

I am absolutely in love with the hairstyle (cut and color) that Lauren did for me!! I have been to a few salons in the Central IL area and my favorite thing about this one is how welcoming they are! The stylists are extremely friendly. They do a great job of bouncing ideas off of each other, as well as you. Especially when you're like me and you go in there with a handful of ideas on what you want or what you think could or couldn't look good! I'm incredibly new to the hair coloring scene, but if I've learned anything, it's that communication with your stylists is KEY!!! Not only that, but they are so good about working you into their schedules, especially when you're as busy as I am! I called in with three or four different time frames that could work for me and they very politely gave me options and told me they would be willing to contact me if any openings became available in the time frames that I asked for! For a first time customer, this was HUGE! Poor Lauren spent THREE or FOUR hours on my hair. I felt awful that I had taken up that much time, but she was sure to reassure me that it wasn't a big deal!! ..which is such a great feeling when you're the one who throws more hair at her than she was expecting! In the end, I was extremely happy with my hair! AND MY EYEBROWS. DON'T GET ME STARTED ON HOW GOOD MY EYEBROWS LOOK NOW!!! (Aka, get your eyebrows done here!!!) I love the style, and I know exactly where I need to go within the next couple of months to maintain the style that I LOVE! Unless of course, I throw something completely different at them!! Either way, I know that I won't be leaving this salon with a style that I'm not happy with!! If you read this review, tell them Sabrina sent you! They have an AMAZING referral program, so help a girl out! read more

Ritual Salon - Hair Salons Near Me - Urbana, Illinois

She was cutting my hair, and I thought it was okay and wanted some things touched up. She got very offended and was being aggressive. She had an attitude from the moment I walked in. I have never been mean to her, I would gently suggest things to make it look better in my opinion, for the style I wanted. She couldn't take my opinions at all. She got angry and said I can't book with her anymore. Very unprofessional with anger issues. read more

I've been here once for myself and once for my daughter for haircuts. Angela did an awesome job both times. She made me/my daughter feel comfortable and gave us exactly what we wanted. She never once made us feel bad about the amount of thick hair we have (weirdly, other stylists have, like it was a burden to do our hair). She really went the extra mile styling and educating about how to take care of our hair. Plus, the place is super cute! I will only go here as long as she's open, which I hope is forever! read more

Angela booked an appointment with me on rather short notice which already gave me a good and appreciative feeling about her. BUT in addition to that, it was my first time at Ritual and her space is truly lovely. I felt comfortable the entire time and I really appreciated just how friendly and funny she was. I absolutely love the cut she gave me and I highly recommend this salon to anyone and everyone. She is a gem of a person and so is her space. read more

Angela did an amazing job! She balayaged all of my tons of hair, educated me on how to take care of it, and showed me how to keep the curl in it for my bridal shower the next day. Everything I learned about caring for my hair was from online. I'm 30 and I haven't had a stylist actually teach me how to take care of my hair. She's also an American board certified hair colorist. She really knows what she's doing. I'll be back to get my hair toned before the wedding! read more

OH MY GAWD! I just got the best haircut and color by ANGELA MITCHELL at Ritual Salon. I haven't felt this happy about my hair in quite a while. I described what I didn't like about my current style and my color was awful! She listened and nailed it. Cute shop, too! If you're feeling down about your current style or just want something new then stop reading this and call her NOW! Xoxoxo pammy read more

Ritual is such a wonderful place to be. Aside from a fantastic haircut and grade A coloring, Angela is a kind friendly and just all around decent human. I always look forward to sitting in her chair. read more

Angela was fabulous! Happiest I've been with my hair in such a long time. She listened to what I wanted and was able to execute it perfectly! Can't wait to come back for a touch up!! read more

Amazing job dying my hair blue! Angela understood exactly what I wanted even though I had no idea what the hair terminology was. I have never dyed my hair so she explained everything and told me how to take care of it. It has lasted months and I still get compliments! read more

As someone whose hair doesn't grow very well, I read all the reviews before I choose to get my hair cut. This time, I decided to get my hair cut from the length I had it my whole life (around the middle of the top part of my arm) to a shorter cut around my collarbone. I told Angela that I was absolutely terrified of going too short, since it doesn't grow due to my constant need to straighten my curly hair. When she was done, I really liked the cut. Little did I know that as soon as I left, it started to flip out around the shoulders and the back was way way shorter than I wanted - above my shoulders. I was devastated. I absolutely hate my hair and I haven't liked anything except putting it in a ponytail, which I will be doing for the next year until it grows back. I imagine Angela is pretty great for edgy cuts, but I am more of a reserved person and I walked away with something I am extremely unhappy with, for $50. She was very nice and talkative, but I don't think she really listened to my concerns. read more

Angela's service was extraordinary!! So I basically tried to lighten my hair at home with a DIY bleaching box & toner. Basically my hair ended up an oragney yellowish color, ahaha what a total surprise. I booked an appointment online last minute for that exact morning. Angela didn't get notified at first of the appointment, which I totally understand since I did book it just a couple hours in the morning beforehand. But, she called me as soon as she saw that it was booked & that she could get me in immediately. She completely fixed my hair! She transformed it into the blonde that I was desiring. As well, she is truly a lovely person. I've been to multiple hairdressers in the Champaign/Urbana area, and Angela is my absolute favorite!! read more

I have been living in the CU area for 2.5 years now. I have tried most (if not all) of the upscale salons in Champaign and Urbana. Historically, I have had a difficult time finding a hairdresser that cuts my hair well. I took my chances on Angela when she was at H2O Salon in Urbana based on a review from a friend. I was so pleased with the service that I stopped looking. Angela has now opened up her own salon in Urbana. Without hesitating I followed here there. Once again, she had given me a top notch cut and style, even fixing some of the damage that was caused by other stylists during the time she was setting up her salon. It's a small and quaint salon, but I appreciate the free attached parking. Most upscale salons in the CU area are in areas where parking is not free and sometimes even difficult to find. This salon has two parking areas and is conveniently located on Main st just east of downtown Urbana. For the service, she gave me a great cut and style and the scalp massage is always amazing. read more

Angela cut my hair a few days ago, and it was a great experience. The cut was exactly what I wanted and I walked out feeling like a million bucks. All we did was to trim off my split ends and shorten my bangs back up to my cheekbone, but she did a great job taking my thin hair into account and using certain techniques to give me more volume. read more

If you're looking for a place to get your hair done, look no further. Make sure you ask for Lauren and I promise you won't be disappointed! I have not had a single hair cut or style from Lauren that I didn't fall in love with! I'm not the easiest to work with because I'm so particular about my hair since it is so fine but Lauren does an amazing job at doing exactly what I ask! I won't let another person touch my hair ever since I started going to her! read more

If you are looking for someone who can cut and color your hair, Angela at Ritual Salon is the person you want! I have been going to her for awhile now (followed her to her new salon) and she always does a fantastic job. I am one who changes my hair style from longer to shorter, and she always cuts it exactly how I want it. One time I wanted to go really short and she suggested I start someone in the middle instead of going so drastic. Glad she suggested that as I didn't really like it that short after all. As for coloring and high-lighting, she does an excellent job. She has been doing this for a long time and knows what to recommend, whether to go lighter/darker, etc. If you are looking for someone who knows how to cut/color hair, I would highly recommend Angela at Ritual Salon. She has years of experience and does an awesome job. I always get many comments from friends and family about how much they love my hair. read more

I've tried a few salons in the area. I wanted to try something totally new and told Angela I wanted to go for a bold, rich red hair color (from my normal mouse-brown). I also asked if she could make my hair less "soccer mom" and make my bob a little more trendy. I have received more compliments than I have literally ever received on my hair. I love it! read more

This place is amazing. Angela is great, friendly, and has given me a consistently stellar short haircut for the last few months. I get tons of compliments. She has great intuition, isn't afraid of a modern cut, and asks for feedback and direction. Great cut! read more

When Angela moved from H2O Salon, I was devastated. I was not initially aware that she was setting up her own salon. She takes the time to get to know me and my hair, and no matter what cut or colour I do (I change often!), it always turns out amazing because of this extra effort. I've had trouble in the past with other stylists who never quite got it right. I would come out of the salon looking amazing and never be able to get it to look right on my own. Angela knows what I am capable of doing and she makes sure I know how to get the results I want. The cuts she recommends always are good for every day (15 minutes maximum to get ready!) or can be done up nicely for special occasions despite how thick, wavy, and unmanageable my hair can be without her knowledge of it. read more
