Firstly the vibe was off including the bartender the place needs an upgrade for being located in a fancy hotel. When I went to sit at the bar the bartender asked me if I want sparkling or tap I asked tap and start looking at the menu. She then comes back to me and ask if I want to order anything else other water, like really?! I came to Ruth Chris to drink tap water at the bar?! Anyways I order my fave drink from which is the blueberry mojito so the one star was for the drink itself. I went with my wife to this location and let me tell you, all those negative reviews I saw must have been written in spite because everything was great! For appetizer we shared the stuffed mushrooms and the crab cake was very flavorful. We also shared a lobster Mac and cheese...... GREAT taste. As the main course we both ordered surf and turf cooked medium and to perfection! The lobster was also perfectly cooked. Our server was very attentive and I saw at least two workers constantly walking around cleaning up tables and picking up empty plates. We went during happy hour and ate at the bar. We got a steak and the burger with fries. Food was excellent and seasoned just right. Service was excellent with great waiters and staff, kept my water glass full! It was not super busy and it was nice to be able to go out to eat and have a conversation and be able to hear each other. I definitely will not dine at this Ruth's Chris location again. As far as my favorite Ruth's Chris in DC overlooking the Capital, I will visit every chance I get. Comments: Flavor: Obviously the most important measurement - when choosing your place to eat animals, this is my main target review section. I take into account the texture, cooking temperature, seasoning, juiciness, etc. Texture: Poor Temperature: Overcooked Seasoning: Poor Juiciness: Poor Review: I do not mind paying $162 for a 40 oz Tomahawk Rib-eye. In fact, I think that if prepared well and the meat quality is the best, $162 is a fair price. I ordered medium rare and it was over cooked. I sent it back so I didn't really get to assess flavor. The manager came over and offered to cook another one. I said sure, please do not over cook it. He quickly came out to inform me that he was out of the 40 oz rib-eye. We agreed to a Cowboy rib-eye. Well, that steak was terrible as well. Tough and extremely poor texture. I would not have rated the second cut of meat anything above select. Being a steakhouse, there was a great expectation for quality. It was non existent. Lastly, as I motioned him over to clear my bill, he was at the bar eating. Come on man! If you are a restaurant manager at a Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, don't sit at the bar and eat. How unprofessional. And for another hot tip, dress like you are a professional. Surf pants or what ever they were looked like you just came off the beach. I feel sorry for the wait staff because there were attentive and did well. Obviously with such an unenjoyable evening out for dinner with my Family of four, I could not tip them. I rarely ever write reviews, but if/when I do, it's because the service or food was either amazing or atrocious, in this case as you can see by the rating, it's the latter. I came in at 5:45pm 45min after they opened, but with enough time to allow the staff to be readied for what is a very hard line of work some nights. As I write this, it is an hour past when I ordered, and it wasn't until 20 minutes ago I asked if bread was being provided. As an industry worker, I always will sit at the bar, there's no need to take a table for one or even two, the bar is the place to be IMO. I asked the bartender about the bread, she was very clearly apologetic and bread was brought within a minute or two. But an hour in I still haven't received my order of a 16oz NY Strip and Au Gratin Potatoes, the part that makes this review necessary for those about to spend a bit more than typical chains, is that the nice couple sitting next to me received their VERY and I mean VERY well done hamburgers already and I've been here a while longer than when they arrived (maybe I should've gone for the burger?). Let's move on to the real problem, I see at least a whole evening crew standing around the bar and galley entrance doing absolutely nothing. This has been consistent of my time in Puerto Rico, the service, it's as stated earlier ATROCIOUS. The food was superb and staff was amazing. The only issue was that I felt rushed because we had a late reservation. Staff started to put up chairs and blow out candles before our meal even came. I understand that the staff may have wanted to get off work, but the restaurant shouldn't allow people to book late reservations if they aren't to fully be able to provide the best service. The lobster brisket had an after taste to it which was atypical for what I usually get. The steaks were grade A+ and cooked to perfection to the term asked. Plates were steaming and boiling hot, keeping temperature of the meat throughout the experience. The potatoes were on the low side of unsalted or unflavored, specially when dipping down underneath the top layer of cheese. The asparagus and the side sauces were delicious. Got a last minute reservation here for my husbands birthday. Ruth's Chris is typically my go to for my birthday and I love taking my husband out for steak on his birthday, just so happened we were in Puerto Rico this year though. I initially wanted to do something which isn't available in the States but - having been in PR for a week, the food is pretty bland. The food was really good, well proportioned and our server was amazing. The staff was very tentative the entire time we were there! Here's why two stars: The actual location is a bit confusing to get into. It's located inside of a hotel/attached to one. It's not really clear that this is the case until you're walking and just wander into the property. The decor is quite old, it smells of the age of the building instead of the amazing food! It's a little off putting. Then there's the loose tiles in the bathroom! Major slip/trip hazard. I nearly slid walking inside with my heels on. And lastly, in Florida, when you indicate on your reservation that you're there for a birthday, dessert is always added on and comes out with decorations on the plate. Our server did inform us that they no longer do this - which does suck. We were full anyways but the surprise element is what counts and it made the experience a little less than we'd have liked it to be. read more

So let's get this out of the way I went to Ruth Chris once in my life and I believed that was enough. When I get invited here I was not excited. I arrive by taxi early so I sit outside in this very comfortable seating area waiting for the rest of the group. We were a party of four for dinner. One of my dinner companions spoke up therefore we got moved to corner table to the front of the restaurant opposed to the one at the entrace if the kitchen. The only person that table is good for is the people who work here as they won't walk too far. The table really made the evening as we needed to be able to talk and hear ourselves order lol. The food was delicious and cooked to order ie my steak came out as requested. I wanted to order fish for my entree however we started with a massive seafood tower. Believe me I could have stopped there way too much food. Loved the lobster and shrimp served on ice and ridiculously fresh. For my main course I had a petite filet. Used to enjoying fab happy hours for $9 at all the Ruth's Chris restaurants I've been to - to include Waikiki Beach. No seas and the regular menu is even more expensive than Hawaii. Steaks were not cooked to perfection and didn't taste like what I'm use to, and I go to Ruth's Chris frequently. My friend ordered Sea Bass and it was overcooked. I have been to this Ruth Chris location in numerous occasions. Their quality of the food and the service has ALWAYS been nothing but exceptional. Through the years I have traveled all over the country and the quality maintained at this location through the overall experience exceeds the average already great expected experience. I always get their Filet med-rare with blue cheese or Parmesan crust; it has always been cooked to perfection. The consistency in flavor of everything from the amazing crab stuffed mushrooms, the calamari to their Au gratin side and garlicky mashed potatoes, is incredible (oh, and Oscar style is a must if you're a crab lover). To top all that, yesterday I had the chance to meet Alfonso, the boss, the man in charge of this location, and not only does he maintain a superb quality standard among his staff and their food, but he is simply the nicest, most down to earth and one of the most amazing human beings I've ever met. He made sure my mother had an amazing birthday dinner, and helped set up the surprise that went right after dinner. He went above and beyond to ensure she felt special and even video recorded it for us. These people earn and deserve your business.
