Now, admittedly I'm not a guitar player but I'm surrounded by friends, family, and a husband who all are so I pick things up by osmosis and I can confidently say that Rusty's Cool Guitars is a pretty darn cool place. It's small but mighty and they pack a lot into their limited square footage. The first thing I noticed when we walked in are all the pedals. I never realized how fun and colorful these are until we went into the shop and saw them all displayed on the wall. I usually notice them on the floor of some grungy rock venue stage and never appreciated how aesthetically awesome they are (a few months later I would go on to make my husband a guitar pedal birthday cake and I 100% credit Rusty's for the inspiration). I was also informed that in addition to aesthetics, the pedals themselves were top notch. The guitars themselves are high end and really beautiful and unique. It's not a place you get your first guitar. But if you're a connoisseur, collector, or just admirer of the instrument you should definitely check the place out. read more

Wow, what a cool place! The owner is awesome, very much into guitars. Looks like they are known for high end guitars, but they have a great selection of mid line playable, quality guitars- namely, G&L and Tagima. Eastwood as well. Every guitar there was pristine, yet I was invited to pick up and play anything. Put Rusty's on your list and before you go off to those box stores that are poorly staffed with damaged "new" guitars on display Treat yourself and check this place out. I purchased a Peavey HP2 off Reverb and the Floyd was all out of adjustment. I took it to Rusty's and dropped it off. Within a couple of hours I returned to an amazing playing guitar. Visiting from New England and wanted to check out the milkman amps. The owner made a point of telling us to ask before we touched anything. Really? Rusty's not so cool and the selection is small and uninspiring. He should try visiting an actual guitar shop, like Norm's in LA or Gruhn's in Nashville, where actual musicians go to shop for instruments in a cool atmosphere with like-minded people. We went to Rusty's to have a couple of knobs put on my son's folk guitar so he could use a strap. It was done in a couple of days and at a very fair price. The staff there is very friendly, very knowledgeable and we will return for any guitar related issues. I highly recommend them! read more

Ive Been a Long time buyer from Rusty's i own 10 guitars from here and ive never set foot in the store .3 palirs,2 luxxetones,2 hallmarks 1 rock n roll relic ,1 iconic and 1 Walla walla guitar . i am in los angeles bought my first off hallmark off a picture and we started emailing back n forth John to me is the best Hands down .we have built a friendship and a business partnership since 2015 i believe .To me buying guitars is one part but service is just as important .John has been nothing but stellar on his service and products these are not the common guitars i've purchased. so Yes its not GC or Sam A its upscale axes and i understand that when your in a store these are not just pick up like a squire and play stairway so i understand the delicate art of these guitars .i'm sure this store isn't gonna appeal to the avg beginners but this is the store of Dream guitars and amps, we all have to have that goal and i thank Rusty's for being here, i feel i arrived at excellence . Wouldn't bother. Rude owner. Found them online, lots of nice guitars and high end luthiers, but the rude service was not worth buying a guitar there. I'd rather take my chances online. Went in on a weekend day in the summer wearing shorts and a t-shirt. The guy asked me if i was there to buy a guitar, then asked me if I brought my wallet. Huge pompous jerk, then just ignored me. Kind of a bummer cause i went in there to look for a new Huss & Dalton and saw they had them online. Not the welcome environment anyone who wants to buy a new guitar looks forward to. read more

We had an excellent experience with Rusty's cool guitars. My 9 year old son was playing his acoustic and was ready for an electric guitar. The owner and one of the staff members took their time with my son. They let him try several of their high-end guitars with the knowledge that he would be buying a junior guitar. The staff worker jammed with my son briefly at the close of our visit. They encouraged him to ask as many questions as he wanted. We learned about the charities they support, which align with ours. Called on a Sunday afternoon with guitar needs. Explained everything on the phone and within a matter of minutes he had lined up two guitars, two amps, cords, pics, tuners and threw in some cool shirts. Basically built two complete starter kits for some very happy kids. Opened the shop on a Sunday evening for me to pickup last minute and gave me a knockout deal.
