The…read moreteacher would cut short every 30 min class by 5-10 min; the experience was unprofessional and unfriendly. Not sure if every teacher is like that but ours did not seem to really care about my child's music education. Despite of all of that my child enjoyed the classes and did not complain, we are switching music schools in search for a more professional, dedicated environment.

I highly recommend them to everyone I know who wants to take music lessons of any type. They are an amazing group of musicians who are dedicated to helping each child live up to his/her potential. They host monthly Coffee Houses to showcase student performances and encourage young musicians to perform. About twice a year they host a Jam Session for all the students and teachers to jam together. It really gives the students the confidence to perform in front of an audience. The Hungry Monk also has summer camps that are amazing. Both of my children adore the environment and the musicians at the Hungry Monk. It is a very special place. We LOVE the Hungry Monk!!!

Founded in 2003, the Academy has become a leading music education institution, offering lessons, classes as well as concerts for the Lowcountry. The Academy offers lessons in Piano, Voice, Violin, Viola, Cello, Guitar, Flute, Clarinet, Harp, Saxophone, Organ, and group classes in theory, improvisation, early childhood music, guitar, and string ensembles. Lessons are semester long and are designed specifically for each student's needs. Students and faculty perform in various concerts yearly in the Rush Hour Concert Series, student and faculty concerts, and at the Piccolo Spoleto Festival.
