The E-bar was the location for my networking reception during an event this past weekend…read more I can't comment much on the actual food they may provide, but from what was offered in the reception, I enjoyed the food very much. They had a large selection of cheese varieties available ranging from camembert to blue cheese, as well as assorted veggies with dipping sauce, grilled flatbread, and homemade panko-crusted meatballs. The event space was large and overall decent, although the seating could've been arranged better, as the booths were quite tight considering our party. The acoustics were also quite loud, and voices were bouncing off the walls like crazy, which made conversations quite difficult. Other than that, the bar did a very good job accompanying us, and my group was satisfied with the night overall.

We walked upstairs to find an empty dance floor and a few randomly scattered patrons. Okay - so not exactly the lovely atmosphere we were hoping for... But nonetheless, since we were more about getting a nice drink - we thought we'd at least stay for one. Sigh. We were disappointed. We watched one table get menus and then patently waited for ours. They did not come. We thought, "...perhaps the dozen or so people here might be overwhelming? So let's wait a little longer shall we? Unfortunately that did not help. I finally went over to the bar and asked for a menu. I was matter-of-factly told that there was no table service on Fridays. We weren't quite sure why - seeing as the waiter to patron ratio was approximately 1:4. We thought we'd just cut our losses - and were getting up to leave - when the waitress later popped by with a menu - saying, "I thought you were waiting for people..." Wow - really?? This review was written from a lovely bar just down the street which does in fact provide table service on Friday night.

The menu looked good and was extremely well priced, and my husband was drawn in by the all-you-can-eat wings, and the patio looked fantastic! The menu consists of fried chicken - in pieces, in sandwich form and as wings. I had the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich with fried potatoes as a side (pictured). The sandwich was absolutely delicious and very spicy. The fried potatoes were also delicious - potato chunks instead of fries, and crispy and very well seasoned. My husband had the all you can eat wings and two sauces. The wings were full wings (not split) and southern fried - our server declared they don't eff around . And they don't. The wings were excellent on their own, but they have a variety of sauces you can add on for a couple of bucks each - you get a very good serving of each sauce. They also have a small but good variety of canned craft beers and cider. The patio is great and they have a bunch of pinball machines and other arcade games inside. The prices were great as well - all you can eat wings + 2 sauces, Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich with 1 side, 3 beers and a soft drink came to $56. They don't have a website, but trust me when I say this place is worth checking out for a meal. The service was great, the prices were great and the food was absolutely delicious.

Unique Indie cinema experience in the Kitchener Waterloo area!…read more It's a rare event when you find out that the town you live in has an Indie Theatre. We found out about this location from our REC 280 course at the University of Waterloo. Although it was part of an assignment to visit this location, the experience was thoroughly enjoyed and as a group we vowed to return at a later date. As students from University of Waterloo we were excited to be supporting local businesses. Additionally, we were offered a discounted price if we purchased out ticket from the turnkey desk at the Student Life Center About Princess Cinemas: From researching online prior to the trip, we found out that this is a true Canadian independent cinema that is privately owned and owner-programmed. They have been open for over 30 years and currently have two locations in Waterloo, Ontario. Planning the trip: We started off by visiting the Princess Cinema website online. Their website was very organized and easy to navigate. The homepage of the website featured the movies that were currently playing at the cinema. This being an Indie theatre there were lots of critically acclaimed and Oscar nominated movies playing. The website was very detailed and provided a summary of the movie and the timings it was playing. Once we decided on a movie and the time as a group, we went to the turn key desk at our student center and purchased the tickets. There is also an option to purchase the tickets online via Paypal for general admission. Experience at the attraction: We decided to drive to the theater. From the University of Waterloo the drive was around 10 minutes. Since the theatre is at a prime location there were lots of parking spots available. Once we arrived at the theater we felt an indie/old-school vibe. There was a ticket booth at the entrance. Making our way inside we decided to purchase some popcorn, as we had read raving reviews of it online. The movie hall itself was very clean and retro looking with red seats. Here, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Post trip: After the movie showing we decided to get some coffee at Princess Café with is conveniently located near the theatre. The coffee was of great quality and the staff were very friendly. The wait time was a bit high due to the place being under staffed but overall the experience was good! Demographic witnessed: movie watchers of all ages, ranging from students to retirees. Price: $9 for students and $12 for general audience (Including Taxes) Quality: Quality of the food and beverages was good as compared to large chain cinemas. Accessibility: Location is in the heart of uptown Waterloo and is easily accessible through driving and busses. Parking is abundant and there were no problems locating a parking close to the theatre. Uniqueness as an attraction: This theatre is a unique experience in the Kitchener Waterloo area since indie cinemas like this one are quite rare in Canada! This place is a must-visit for any tourists in this region.
