What an absolutely phenomenal time we had in this cruise!! It was our 30th wedding anniversary and the activity we had planned was canceled the day before we were to go. We called Monday afternoon to inquire about a Tuesday lunch cruise. We were told that no cruise was planned but they would call a captain to see if he would be available. Five minutes later we are booked and ready to go! We ended up getting to choose which boat we wanted and had the whole cruise to ourselves. Captain David was tour guide. Not only was his knowledge of the local vegetation and animals outstanding but his navigating skills of his boat were top notch! The boat ride was very smooth even though the waters were a little choppy. We saw almost every native bird in Florida in the canal including a Bald Eagle! We also saw baby alligators , toddler alligators, teenagers alligator, momma and popper alligators. We saw several turtles , river otter and some birds actually catching and eating fish . The old Cyprus trees covered with Spanish moss as we slowly navigated the canal was like a trip back in time into the Florida that the first explorers witnessed! Highly recommend this 2hour tour next time you go to Mount Dora for the day. read more

If you have a couple hours to kill I recommend this boat tour. You cruise along the shoreline for several hours looking at the residences and birds nesting in the trees. The highlight is traveling one mile through a canal to the adjoining Lake. The canal looks like a throwback to the early 60s with the makeshift resident's houses, mobile homes and huts along the way. Michael did a great job accommodating us on Tuesday night for the sunset cruise despite the weather being uncooperative. We had to cut our trip a little short and there wasn't a sunset due to the weather which was a bummer, but it was still an enjoyable trip and a great way to see the area. We learned a lot about Mount Dora and the various wildlife seen on the lake and in the canals. We hope to return again soon and enjoy a longer trip when the weather is a bit nicer! read more

My husband and I had a beautiful 2-hour tour of Lake Dora and the Dora Canal. Captain Bob was knowledgeable about the area and the wildlife. We saw eagles, blue heron, anahinga.
