This outfit, specifically Shawn, has the competition beat, hands down. Some tour operators distinguish themselves by being entertainers and showmen. Shawn is a good natured and knowledgeable guide that doesn't try to make himself the star of the show. He's a highly experienced boatman, knowledgeable about the local lore, the weather, the plants and wildlife, the techniques and habits of the sportsmen, and all the spots that various animal species like to hang out under different light and weather conditions. His familiarity with the unique coves and crannies of the ever changing wetland terrain is astonishing. He clearly takes it as a point of pride that he can remember and track down the animals you want to lay eyes on. He also makes the ride itself interesting and enjoyable because of his piloting skill. His lifelong love of navigating the wetlands is positively infectious. Rather than having the feeling that I've already been there and done that, I could look forward to riding with Shawn again and again.

Warning : you should not use this company. I callled and…read morelet them know that I would be arriving in Florida for four days and asked would this be adequate time to complete the five hours of flight training. I was assured by The female at the desk that this would be no problem. I arrived on time each day and prepared for flight training. I received 2.9 hours of training and then I was informed they had pre-booked charters and would not be able to accommodate me the rest of those hours. I spoke with the lady at the front desk about this situation and we agreed that I would be billed only for the hours received. I received a partial refund and then within two hours the refund was taken back out of my account and I received a text message from the company that stated the owner didn't feel comfortable giving me a partial refund. This company was fully aware of my situation and did not honor their word. This company took my money under false pretenses, and payment was made for services NOT RENDERED!!!! I immediately called my credit card company and explain the situation and started a dispute. Anyone looking to get there sea plane ratings I would advise from my experience do not use this company. They are not a reputable company and they lack honesty and integrity. Next day I went to Jack Brown's seaplane base in winter haven Florida I was amazed and I found the staff was amazing and most of all had integrity. After two hours of flight time the Cfi was ready to sign me off, but we could not get a DPE that day and I was flying out the next morning. I found Jack Brown's Sea Plane base to be everything that you could ever ask for in a company for Sea Plane operation. I will be going back to Jack Brown's to fly again in the future highly recommend Jack Brown.

Our first trip to Mount Dora was wonderful on its own, but the addition of a ghost tour on our last…read morenight made the whole thing epic. We arrived at the meeting location at 8 PM as instructed, where Doctor Professor Hannibal Merripen (or "Doc") introduced himself and learned all our names. Doc was just the perfect mix of dry humor and local knowledge. He also had impeccable comedic timing. He showed us his case of portions and powders, and then handed out our ghost detecting devices, one per group. For the next 2 1/2 hours, we walked through the streets of Mount Dora (which one longer stop in the lobby of the Lakefront Hotel), learning some of the history of the town, as well as stories of residents and visitors who departed this earth a bit too soon, but still lingered in shops, hotels, or streets. Mount Dora is an open container town, so cocktails in plastic cups were permitted. Wear comfy shoes for the hills, and bug spray is recommended (it was warm but pleasant, but we experienced some little stinging midges - seasonal but not super fun.) Thank you for the best night! Even our 14 year loved it and Doc kept him engaged (even commenting that if the teenager took out his AirPods right away so he knew he was doing a good job). Also check out the Paranormal Experience in the historic Donnelly House. It promises to be a combination of a ghost tour and an escape room. Spooky!

Our party ended up being 20 of us and we were able to share a unique link for purchasing tickets so our party was all linked together as one party. When we first boarded, there really wasn't any direction as to what to do or what we could do so we just sat down at our table and waited for someone. We weren't sure if we could or should go to the bar to order drinks or if we could walk around before dinner. It took a while (10+ minutes) for anyone to approach our table.) Once someone approached our table we ordered drinks and then walked around the boat. We went to the top deck to take some photos and watch the sunset before dinner started. Once dinner started we were able to go the buffet as munch as we wished. Since it was Italian night they had all Italian dishes, none of the dishes really stood out but nothing was bad. It was good, but not like wow! While eating they started pouring our wine samples. We got two red and two white samples and a sommelier talked us through each sample. After the first two samples they gave us a break to walk around, go to the bathroom, etc. I would have preferred a shorter break in the middle of dinner and more time in the beginning so that we could spend more time on the deck while the sun set. Tickets for this event were $65 and in my opinion it was worth it. We had a great time and it was something I could check of my bucket list!

I didn't feel like we were able to get a real show because of the location and I'm not sure it helped the queens either. They did try! Plus I appreciate that a company in the Sanford area was willing to host the show! From a river ship standpoint...the ship is showing its age and I'm not sure I heard or saw any safety protocols or briefings. I have to believe there were some because I would think that's a requirement but I must have missed it. The goldfish on the tables were a nice touch but a bit stale. Our drinks weren't weak so that was nice too. The server who came to the table was nice and able to get us what we asked for in a timely manner. Someone at our table had the pretzel and it looked decent, but I didn't try it myself.
