Just finished up a good lunch in Pawley's Island. The oyster poboy was good but I've had better. Everything was good but the tartar sauce was sweet (need to use Dukes mayo). Oysters were great. The fried green tomato side was thick crust and I prefer tender flaky crust. But, they were good. The side caesar salad I got had tomatoes and cucumbers with dressing on the side. This place blows the old restaurant guard of the region out of the inlet with a low country menu full of local ingredients. They somehow turn a heavy meal like shrimp and grits into something that is feels light and fresh....highly recommend this dish along with the fried green tomatoes (we had as a starter to share). Don't worry about the location off the highway; it's got a great atmosphere with an awesome covered patio and plenty of other diners enjoying! We went to the Rustic Table last night (Saturday evening) for dinner. The food was good, over priced though. Our waiter Matt was excellent. However, while we were eating the hostess seated a young lady with a big dog at a table right next to us. Not a service dog. We did not appreciate having dinner with a dog seated right next to us. The young hostess even came over and played and petted with the dog. She then proceeded back to the hostess stand, never used any hand sanitizer, and started handling menus and seating others. As we were leaving I asked her if dogs, not even service dogs, were usually allowed in the restaurant and she replied yes we allow dogs. I then told her we would not be coming back again. read more

After reading reviews and wanting a place for a Sunday brunch, I just had to try the Rustic Table. Getting there just around 11 am and they were already doing a brisk business. Rather than waiting on a Table I decided to sit at the bar. Ordered the Proud Mary. One of the best bloody Mary's I've ever had! After checking out the menu settled on Adam's omelet. The food came out very quickly! Hot and delicious! The omelet was the perfect mesh of shrimp, spinach, eggs, and cheese. The potatoes were fantastic! Stopped by on our anniversary weekend and were not disappointed. The place is delightful. Friendly staff. Comfortable atmosphere. Wonderful food. I got the blackened mahi salad - it was hard to choose between that and the shrimp and grits - and it was delicious. Light, yet filling. Just the right amount of seasoning. Perfect amount of dressing. My wife got the house salad with the cornmeal fried oysters. She let me have a bite and WHAT! Those oysters just melted in your mouth. I could eat those all day, and I don't even really go for oysters. Topped off with key lime pie and homemade ice cream that were flavorful - not too sweet, not too bland - and given in monstrous proportions. Short version: Rustic Table is almost a GUARANTEED good meal no matter the day or time. Long version: My wife and I visit Pawley's Island every couple of years and Rustic Table is always a place we visit. Whether it be for brunch, lunch, or dinner, you're guaranteed to have a great meal. Our visit for brunch yesterday was no exception. My wife got the corned beef hash and eggs and I got "The comfy". Both were amazing but I think the comfy was slightly better. I love a good country fried steak and almost ordered that but decided to try The comfy instead and it did not disappoint. The fried chicken was damn near perfect and gravy had so much flavor. Put it on top of the delicious biscuit and it was heaven. The corned beef hash was also amazing. That was my "go-to" the last few years but decided to try something different this year. Bottom line, make your reservations early if you don't want to wait 30 minutes for a table but, if you don't, it's worth the wait. read more

Very disappointing. At one time this was a great spot. I recently ordered the Rib steak, ($41.00) because I was in the mood for a good steak. At $41.00, I figured this MUST be a good steak.,,,,, NOT! you know when you go to Publix or Harris Teeter, you see the 1/2 inch steaks pre-packaged and the sell for like $12,,,, that was their $41 steak! I realize that all prices have gone up, but this was a complete rip off. Service was not what it used to be either, rather surly service, like we were lucky to get a table. The portions are large. We had drinks, desserts, appetizers, the special, salads, soup and even took several meals to go. Everything was tasty, prepared well and exceeded our expectations. Understand this is a busy time of year, and though our food was good, we won't be visiting any time soon. Management needs to take more time training their staff. This was our best dining experience on our recent visit to the area. 5/5, would just keep coming back here if we had a longer stay! There are a couple of burgers on the menu- one has the basics with lettuce & tomato, but the other- the Smashburger- is what I ordered & it could not have been more perfect! Two juicy patties (that were thicker than I expected) with the combination of cheddar cheese, onion jam, pickles, & whatever is in their special sauce, is just outstanding. I actually thought while I was eating it that I'm glad they didn't muddy the flavors by adding lettuce, tomato, or anything that would take away from the combination {insert chef's kiss}. We also got the flounder po boy & it was delicious as well, with a really crisp cornmeal breading, fresh ingredients, & a nice soft roll which stood up well. Amazing service, great food, very nice area and cute decor. The service really stands out, from the hostess to all of the people helping each other take care of us. I had the Monte Cristo, which was so good dipped in syrup; savory-sweet, the perfect brunch combo! My husband didn't even offer me a bite of his omelet, but said it was top notch, and he's kindof a subject-matter-expert in that area. Cole slaw (which I didn't order, but my daughter's meal came with it and she knowsI like cole slaw) was dry and had a huge chunk of onion in it. We were five people and split the check three ways, which seemed to annoy our waitress. We visited the Rustic Table because of the good ratings. We were very surprised at the mediocre, at best, food. I ended up sending my order of She Crab soup back. I settled for Tortilla Soup.
