The pizza at Rustic Slice is not good. It's f***ing amazing! Probably one of the best pizzas I've ever had. I had a quick chat with Reza and Anna who were very proud of their product and explained how everything is done on premises from scratch - the dough, sauces, etc. They turned out to be owners of the place which explains the passion - an essential ingredient in cooking. Two concerns: with the price of $14-15 for a medium pizza the place is a bit spendy but you get what you pay for - and much, much more. Second - I would like to see regular forks and knives instead of the plastic ones - definitely not a deal breaker for me. I'm not coming to Kitchener too often but I will make sure to visit Rustic Slice again next time I'm there. read more

First off, I called in for a pick up order. The lady on the phone with so friendly. And I'm pretty sure it was the same person at the counter. Wonderful service. Great decor inside. Nice to be able to support locally. Now to get to the food. Pricing wise, this is not a low-cost pizza place. You are getting quality food. We ordered a large pizza and a family size salad and polished off everything between the three of us. It was that good!! The only disappointing side is that I wish the large pizza and family salad was even bigger LOL. You can taste the freshness in the crust. The crust had a great crispy edge. The dipping sauces are all amazing. We try three of them. I want to go back to try the others. They also provided me with plastic forks, napkins and paper plates. As for recommendations. It would be great if they could bottle the home made salad dressings to be sold separately. All in all a great experience. Try them out! read more

I have been waiting months for this place to open. Family owned and operated. Went in after work. . Ermahgerd. . This Zza is incredible! Well worth the wait. I will be going many times over, for sure. You gotta try it. . They have salads and stuff too. Everything is fresh and made in house. Update7/23/14: I have made it a regular occurrence. My SO and I can't get enough of their food. Not every trip includes the pizza (gotta watch my figure lol) but at the least, we are walking out with a salad. I gotta say that this is one of the best if not THe best pizza shop in town. Unique and very tasty. Love their crust and sauce. They have deals too for two pies and three toppings. If you're hungry on a Friday night, this is not the place for you. I ordered online and paid online. Delighted with the idea of being able to walk in and pick up my order. Except... there was only one person at the counter and a line up of 5 groups. I spent 25 minutes waiting to be acknowledged and to add insult to injury, another woman walked in, butted in line and was served rather than being asked to wait behind all the other very hungry customers. When I spoke up, I was told I should be patient. Because 25 minutes for a prepaid pick up order isn't patient enough? She also offered to let me cut in line of 2 other families. Decided to try the gluten free crust here and ordered 45 min before closing. They did not indicate how much for 2 medium pizzas would cost but if I would have known a head of time I would have said forget it! It came to $46.99 for the pizzas that is WAY over priced and then after opening up the pizza the crust was a inch thick making not a lot of room for actual toppings. Not only that the "gluten free" just seem like whole wheat and was like cardboard. To top everything off I found a hair in the one pizza, totally disgusted. This is place really impressed me with their amazing and creative pizza. The salads are also delicious. The atmosphere is good. I wouldn't order a salad to go again as I felt the portion was a lot smaller than if I would've dined in and pretty pricey, as all the salads are the same price regardless of if there is chicken or any big protein in it or not. I do wish that the slices they offered were thin crust and not such big fluffy dough but that's just me and I'll have to try an ordered pizza next time and ask for thin crust. It's located in a corner lot still missing a lot of development, opposite a Mac's gas station. I've had better from $2 pizza places. The main problem is that they don't have that many customers so turnover is low. The pizza I had was sitting under the heat lamp for way too long and the consistency was like cardboard. It was also relatively expensive at $4 for a slice. I could've bought a large frozen pizza from the grocery store and baked it myself for a better taste. In a pizza, I'm first looking for a good crust and dough. After experiencing real Neapolitan pizza with its chewy thin crust, it's hard to go back to regular North American pizza dough. This had just the regular pizza dough. The ingredients were probably ok before they had sat under the heat lamp for a while. The menu claims to use fresh ingredients. It's probably true. I feel bad giving such a negative review, because their business appears to be suffering, and they're putting on a forced smile. Here's the thing with pepperoni pizza, they have four basic ingredients: Dough, Sauce, Cheese, and Pepperoni. Some places can make these four ingredients taste amazing together and others...well I'm sure you've all had a bad slice of pizza. Truly a diamond in the rough, and I almost mean that literally - Rustic slice is currently located across the street from an asphalt dump in a mostly industrial area. Rough, indeed! But let's discuss the diamond, shall we? My first experience was just this week, having been tipped off by a coworker. I admit, I was jealous of his lunch. I walked in and was pleasantly surprised at how neat and clean it was inside. Well lit with lots of windows, and enough seating for maybe 20 people. And of course, it smelled delightful. You know you're in a decent pizza place when the bacon is actually real chunks of bacon. Indeed, as I gazed at the pizza selection prepared for the lunch crowd, I could tell that all of the ingredients were fresh. Later I learned that they try to source all their ingredients from local sources. Impressive! You already know where I'm going with this. The pizza was fantastic! Perfectly cooked in a stone oven, the flavours in my Soprano pizza were sweet and spicy and savory in all the right ratios. The sourdough crust, prepared fresh daily, was light and crispy. Just really, really good. I was also impressed by their selection of cane sugar sodas. Try the birch beer, it's great! Upon returning to work I passed some coworkers just heading out for lunch. They were going to a different pizza place. Of course, I promptly steered them to Rustic Pizza instead. How could I not? I'd have been plagued by a guilty conscience for the rest of the day if I hadn't. Do yourself a favour and check out this true diamond in the rough. Really enjoy the pizza and enjoy the panzerottis even more. I've had a few issues with screwed up orders in the past (forgot the chicken wings with no apology, gave someone else my panzerotti) but haven't had any issues the last few times. Very rude service. They informed me of a wait for my fries. Served several customers fries and completely forgot about me. I finally said something and they got the fries. No apology or reconciliation, they just continued to work. Very disappointing. The prices raise every so often. Pizza is okay but almost not worth the rising price. Fry sizes are ridiculous the medium is too small and the large is way to big, no in between. It's hard to find a restaurant that does both pizza and salad well but this place does! Ordered a custom pizza. Tasty dough and lots of toppings. Also ordered a side Thai Peanut salad. It was amazing. It doesn't actually come with peanut pieces- the peanut is in their homemade salad dressing so I asked for peanuts on the side since I love the crunch. It was very perfect. A little expensive and took way too long to get my order because 'we had a big take out order' even though I was eating in. The pizza was insanely hot when I received it because I guess they were rushing to get it to me since they took so long. Overall, the pizza was pretty good and I'd give them another shot. Dry cardboard crust, so stingy on the sauce too!! Insanely overpriced, totally not worth it, it's not as great as they boast it to be. Employees are incredibly snobbish and rude, and they are constantly screwing up orders! I am surprised they have any customers left at all. The place is family owned and operated, with a rustic Italian atmosphere and some beautiful modern art on the wall. The atmosphere was, sadly , killed by the country music blaring in the dining room. First time ordering pizza and wings from Rustic Slice and we have found a new favourite pizzeria! Picked up a large with pepperoni mushrooms and onions. Order was promptly ready at supper hour for pick up. The pizza far exceeded our expectations with a tasty tomato sauce, lots of cheese and piping hot. The jalapeño dipping sauce was home made and truly tasty and with a good "bite" to it. Yum. Had honey garlic and medium wings and they were a good meaty size. Truly Truly a HUGE disappointment. Drove by this place a few times while visiting my buddy and stopped in last weekend to pick up a medium pizza. My buddy warned me that the place is never busy - LIKE EVER - anytime he drives past there is never anyone there....and that that's usually a sign that the place isn't very good. Long story short, the place looks nice inside, but the pizza is honestly horrible! The crust is tasteless, very thin and rock hard, the sauce is bland .. just the entire pizza is just blahhhh. I have never had such a greasy pizza either. You could literally see the layer of grease sitting on top of the cheese. I had to blot the grease off with a paper towel before eating it. I also got the homemade dipping sauce to go with the pizza and it did not agree with me at all! I ended up eating only a few slices from the pie and threw the rest out. I was not impressed at all with the pizza here! I don't understand where they are getting reviews saying the pizza is the best they ever had - they are obviously either their friends writing these reviews, or they are writing their own. Trust me - This Pizza Joint is HIGHLY OVER PRICED and has one of the worst pizza's in the KW area! The best pizza we've found in Kitchener! We recently relocated from Montreal and miss the great food selection and Quality. Pizza has always been a quick enjoyable indulgence. Unfortunately we have found the pizza here lacking in flavour and nothing makes it stand out as a meal worth returning for. Three-and-half stars is more like it, but that option is not available. We've been trying to find good pizza in this area ever since we moved here eight years ago. While not great, I think this restaurant has the best we have found so far after trying a couple of dozen other places. When we want great pizza, we go to La Nova in Buffalo. Maybe we've been spoiled by living in New York and Chicago, both of which have countless restaurants serving phenomenal pizza. Local pizzeria owners should visit these cities and learn a thing or two from the experts. read more
