Counter-clockwise - Crab cakes, seared tuna, sesame cauliflower, jerk pork ribs, Chile shrimp.

"Small plates" are totally me thing. So when a fiend of mine had come here and suggested we try it out for our birthday dinner we were on board! For one I love the decor inside. I love the brick wall behind the bar and leading to the downstairs. The place was very clean. The prices we pretty average for a restaurant of the caliber. My husband and I ordered 5 plates and all were delicious. The chef did a very nice job. The bartender was on point with the cocktails. My only wish is that they brought out the small plates in waves vs all at one time. There was 3 couples and all of our dishes came out at once, there was barely enough room on the table. Had I known, I probably would have requested. This would not deter us from trying it again. I head seasonally they change their menu so we will definitely be back during the warmer months!!

Hibiscus Margarita and Orange Creamsicle Mocktail

Great gastro pub ambience with 70's/80's soft rock to today. Cute bar area with tall and short tables or booths for your comfort. Open when lots of things in town are closed, we visited on a Tuesday evening. It was a nice buzz level of busy. Our server was a charming, patient person with great recommendations. She recommended the poached pear salad, and it was delicious. We started with the mushroom risotto and the cheese curds. The risotto was VERY mushroom. Earthy and yummy. The cheese curds were tasty and fun with a great marinara sauce. I had a hibiscus margarita (yum!!) and my husband had an Orange creamsicle mocktail. The server and hostess kept our water glasses full, and the cocktail prices were great. For dinner I enjoyed the poached pear salad. It was huge with more kale than I could eat, lots of goat cheese and candied pecans, and a lovely vinaigrette. The pears were poached to perfection in wine, and a lovely cinnamon flavor. A nice vinaigrette topped it off. I had it with baked onion soup. So good. My husband had the eggplant parmesan, just one of the vegetarian options on the menu. Many items were also gluten free or gluten friendly. He loved his entree. To the sweet hotel worker who told us she had never eaten here because it was "tiny food", um... no. Plenty of delicious food at a great price. I'm guessing she googled "gastro pub". Although I'm also guessing she doesn't google or eat out much. She was right though, that it was a delightful evening walk over from the hotel.

Apple Brandy Old Fashion & the best short ribs w/the creamiest cheddar polenta around. You won't miss the potatoes! Please try it.

Great food and great service! The Old Fashion was excellent and so was the Strawberry Blonde drink. It was very difficult to choose what to order, so I'll be back. In the end we ordered the french onion soup, sticky sesame cauliflower w/bonus fried crispy brussels sprout leaves, and the beef short ribs. It was some of the best food I've had in the Geneva Lake Area. I forgot to take photos when some of the food arrived but I included some "after" photos.

Fish Tacos

Best Fish Tacos Ever!!! I have to say, as someone who samples fish tacos across the country ( I travel a ton for work) hands down these were outstanding! The corn tortillas were fresh, the fish light and fluffy, cabbage slaw and special sauce brought the whole dish together! This little restaurant was anything but a hole in the wall-with craft cocktails, a great beer selection and overall great ambiance... even the energy in the place was perfect! On a Wednesday night this place was hopping! We will be back!

This is a quaint new restaurant located in Burlington Wisconsin. They are located on the corner... across from Fred's Burgers. A "small plate" restaurant, serving fares from burgers, chicken, fish, ribs, and even a Friday Fish Fry. The chef prepares all dishes from locally grown produce and meats. They have a wide variety of appetizers, and a large wine selection. Menu items are reasonably priced, and the staff is very polite and accommodating. Reservations suggested. Street parking available.

We also had a few lovely cocktails mixed by Steven, the bartender, who took great care of us. And a special shoutout to the host, who was awesome enough to give us a heads-up that a large party of 20 was about to order so we could get ours in first....such a thoughtful touch. Great food, great drinks, and genuinely attentive service from start to finish. Highly recommend Butcher & Barrel!

The restaurant is kind of L-shaped,…read moreso we were seated in the smaller side that had several other small tables, but the restaurant made sure to seat all the other tables first, so it was basically a private room! Our group started with three salads, all delicious, I highly recommend the arugula goat cheese. I also tried a bit of the patty squash which was great (I'm not usually a fan of squash). I shared two vegetarian dishes with a friend, a tomato burrata risotto I'm still thinking about) and a beat pesto that was a little bland. One of my highlights was the blush cocktail with pink peppercorn and passionfruit that tasted so refreshing and summery. Our table also tried three desserts, and the plates were scraped clean. This is a great spot, with good food and I would definitely come again if I lived nearby!

The decor is…read morefun and transforms you into a different world during your meal, service is quick and friendly, prices are surprisingly reasonable the amount and quality of food you're getting, flavors are on point (and on the healthier side of cooking for this style), and presentation is great. The other struggle will be with parking as this place is generally very packed during dinner hours. After several visits here, I've decided that the best way to order is to get large dishes to share with others. While, individual size servings are great -- there is a ton of spots nearby great for 1-2 people, but this spot does offer some nicely presented large dishes like bossam which are great for serving. I also find the seafood pancake to be a generous size with plenty of seafood and a nice crisp edge. These are definitely prepared with minimal seasoning, relying instead on an assortment of sauces to infuse the food with flavor. The bulgogi similarly, is tender and presented with lots of cabbage, more of a cold day comfort food instead of a seared version with thick sauce as you may find in other nearby locations. Definitely aim for some spicy dishes like the spicy pork bbq with mozzarella cheese if you're coming here, as the spicy options are on a different level of flavor and depth (similar to most Asian food you'll find in the area). Again, the meat is prepared very tender with an explosion of flavor. Overall, excellent food with excellent presentation and surprisingly affordable pricing. Probably one of the best values you'll find from a Yelp Top 100 US restaurant.

Decent size parking lot available for diners! This spot is a bit rurally located, but a treasure in the rough. The interior is uniquely Wisconsin, blending dive bar with supper club to create an approachable, laid back atmosphere. The bartender was friendly and conversational, yet kept his distance when not needed! The Old Fashioned menu was large, with unique spins on the classic Brandy-forward drink in this neck of the woods! I went with the Haunted Brothel, which had a lovely nuance of chamomile tea and ginger beer to give it a distinct taste! I'd absolutely go back to try another one of the many offerings on the menu!

They have a robust old fashioned menu--all made the Wisconsin style. We ordered the barrel aged old fashioned and asked if it could be made in the classic style (and specified without soda). Our server said, 'of course!' Annnnnd--then we got our drinks and they were both Wisconsin style. Not a huge deal and we did enjoy but a word of warning to those who favor a classic old fashioned with no wash--might have a hard time with that here. For our second cocktail, we got Manhattans which were better! For an appetizer, we were waffling between the spinach artichoke dip and the brussels sprouts. Our server recommended the spinach artichoke dip so we went with that. The dip was flavorful and the tortilla chips are house made. It was good! For my main, I got their eggplant parm, which was ample, saucy, and served on a bed of pasta. I definitely couldn't eat it all in one sitting. It was delicious. Our server was attentive and the prices are reasonable. Get to it!
