What is exciting about this place is that it is more than just a salon - it is a beauty health centre as well. I nipped in here one day as I was having a wander through town as I noticed that they offered spa and beauty treatments too. I went in only with the intention of picking up a few leaflets to take away and read but the lovely manager offered to show me the treatment spaces! We walked through their salon, which looks to be extremely well kept and high end, and wandered down the stairs into the area where the massages and such are held. As soon as you enter the space a wave of calm envelops you; everything is painted over in a deep chocolate, almost black, and there are dimly lit spot lights around to keep the space as relaxing as possible. There was an area sectioned off by these dangling chains/links which created a little separate sofa space. The lady explained to me that this is the relaxation area for after treatments - no one is rushed out after their appointment, and they're free to chill out in there with a tea or a coffee for as long as they like! Then she showed me one of the massage rooms. It was a little parlour of heaven! The room was also painted in the deep chocolates, but with little arrangements of candles and minimalistic decoration, all of which blended in to create a lovely space. I couldn't imagine anywhere being more blissful to receive a massage! I thanked her as we went back up and took away some leaflets to browse over. The prices seem to be a touch higher than I had hoped but in any case, I have my Mum coming to visit in a few weeks and I think this is definitely going to be on the 'to do' list! From hair cuts, dyes, re-stylings, beauty massages, facials, eyebrow shapings and much much more, Russell Eaton seems to be the high end beauty specialist of Leeds. A beautifully designed and decorated space, with lovely staff and a huge range of different services! read more

We've got the frock sorted. The bling is ready to be whipped out. I've indulged in some lush beauty treatments. Now I do the hair to match. Oh and are we spoilt for choose in Leeds Russell Eaton though has become somewhere that I need to have more of in my life. Maybe it's because they use the quite simply divine Aveda products. I've always been a fan of Aveda, ever since it cropped up in Harvey Nichols and alas the salon went away a while ago. The products remain on sale there though and now you can have that experience in salon form once again. Cutting edge cuts if you so wish funky premises and stupidly cool staff (as always in top end salons). Yep it is quite like many a salon in that description and it isn't anything ground breaking or new. What it is is quality. That's what you want from a hair cut and that is what you'll get. Oh and it's heavy on the organic, nice! read more

This place is Fab. Really relaxing and a proper treat to have the standard beauty treatments. I went at first with a voucher from my Birthday last year and had 2 very lovely massages - the second with a free extra foot reflexology session. They keep all notes on record so never have to explain all my allergies each time them just know to not use anything scented. Been back now fo hair colour, cut, wax and massage. It's a proper little treat me session and they are happy to let me do sample tests before new treatments. They even sent me a birthday voucher, what can I say... Super lovely service and high quality. Would definitely recommend even though the prices are quite high. read more

Had a wax with Vicki at the spa and after a previous bad experience elsewhere with waxing I was nervous to have another but a friend recommended Russell Eaton so I thought I'd try it out before my holiday. The spa itself had such a relaxing feel and was really tranquil and clean. Vicki was extremely friendly and made me feel so at ease and comfortable. Her waxing skills were practically pain free and have completely converted me from how I was previously feeling. I wont hesitate to go back to Vicki in the future and will be recommending her to all my friends! She made what is usually can be quite a daunting experience really relaxing and I left feeling extremely happy with my treatment and yeh service I had just received. read more

Poor customer service. I was kept waiting for half an hour with no apology or explanation. My all over hair colour was orange at the root and almost black over the previous months colour. I also had my brows tinted and shaped. the tint wasn't visible and the shape was lopsided. c£100 spent, completely disatified and need to have my dye corrected at a salon where they know what they are doing. Overall - salon looks good - treatments not worth the money. read more

I have been a client of Russell Eaton for 30 years, most of which were at his Barnsley salon. This has meant that I have been able to watch Russell and his family go from strength to strength from the original small Barnsley salon to the much praised Leeds salon. Russel and his family deserve all the success they have achieved. In my many years of having my hair styled by Russell and Robert I can say without reservation that I have always been totally pleased with the results, so much so that even when living in Devon and Ireland I have managed to travel to his salon. In that time I have on a couple of occasions used other salons, and whilst not having a major complaint I can truthfully say that none has given me the total satisfaction that Russell Eaton has. Not only have I been satisfied but over the years many have commented on my hair and have asked for Russell Eatons details. In fact several years ago whilst working in Next a German lady was so impressed with my hair colour she asked for the details and the next day came back to tell me she had made an appointment. Whilst some may argue that the prices are possibly a little high, to this I would simply say that the cut and colour lasts for at least 4/5 months, which knowing how often others visit a salon, I believe this represents good value for money, more importantly so does my husband. Whether you have an idea of the cut or colour or leave it to the team to advise the result is always most acceptable. I am always reluctant to recommend businesses or products as people have different tastes, but I would not hesitate in recommending Russell Eatons salon to anybody. Finally in response to a previous comment I have never been or sought to have been Dorian or her friends. read more

I'm never going to that place again, neither are any of my friends.. Hair color nothing like I asked for, and they dont care when a customer gets out of the salon unhappy.. I asked for medium brown with golden highlights, I get pitch black with orange streaks.. Quoting Robert Eaton "I, as the SALON OWNER, think your hair is just like what you showed us in the picture!!".. Paid 140 pounds to hear this, like I'm blind.. Stormed out of the place crying!! Went to another salon that same day, and they stayed EXTRA TIME to fix my hair and gain a customer (called Renaissance, near pizza express, great place - my new favorite!).. Now I'm going around everywhere spreading the word: I HATE RUSSELL EATON SALON, NEVER GO THERE!! As they say: not everything that shines is gold.. read more

I went to this salon 3 times to have my hair coloured and it was never what I wanted. They lack consistency when it comes to the whole salon experience and the short little manager man has a real attitude problem. The first time I went I showed them a picture of the colour I wanted and ended up with a different shade. It was a nice shade so I didn't mention it. The second time I went I had the same colour again but the real trouble started when I made my third visit. Having thought more about it I decided that I would ask them to colour my hair the shade I originally asked for, I was perfectly clear with what I asked for but didn't show them a picture. I asked for carrot ginger hair, bright carrot ginger. The colourist agreed and went about mixing the colour. Now, the first time I visited I was given a head massage but on my second and third visit I wasn't despite those sat around me (who were getting their hair coloured too) being offered them. The colourist comes back and applies the colour and apparently leaves it for 20 minutes....almost 30 minutes later she returns and sends me off to have my hair washed. Now, on my first and second visit they both conditioned and applied a treatment to my hair but not on my third visit. There was no conditioner applied and when I questioned this when I was back in my seat they lied to me and told me there had been. Now, each time before they have washed and rinsed my hair twice, applied conditioner and then combed it through before rinsing, on my third visit there were two rinses and no combing. Back in the chair to have my hair dried, trimmed and straightened. As my hair dried I realised that it wasn't the shade that I asked for so when she asked 'what do you think' my response was 'it's nice but it's not the colour I asked for'. This colourist apologised and asked if I wanted to talk to her manager about it to which I explain 'no, it's fine, I'll just go elsewhere from now on'. She didn't listen to me and ran off to get a manager and this is where I started to get really infuriated by how they were dealing with me. Her manager appeared and proceeded to tell me how nice it was (I wasn't disputing if it was nice, it was nice, but it wasn't what I asked for!) and that if I was that unhappy with it they could try to tone it down. I explained further that it would do and that I would simply go elsewhere for my colour in the future. They had already coloured my hair and I didn't want them stressing it out any further with more chemicals. I finally made it out of the chair and went to pay (why the hell I did that I have no idea...) and when I got to the desk they asked the obligatory 'how was everything' to which I rather foolishly responded 'fine but the colour wasn't what I wanted' (I should have kept my mouth shut and left...). The receptionist then asked if I wanted to talk to the manager, I explained that I didn't and that I just wanted to pay and leave. Thanks to the delay in being seen and the extra time they left me sat with the colour on, I'd been there for aaaaages. So instead of listening to me the receptionist ignores me and runs off to fetch the tiny manager man so he can speak to me. The guy comes over and goes on to tell me how nice my hair was, I explained yet again (despite telling the receptionist I didn't want to have this conversation) that I didn't dispute how nice it was but that it was not the shade I asked for. They dyed my hair copper and I had asked for carrot ginger. The little man's attitude was awful, he ended up walking away from me while I was mid-sentence! As my colour settled over the next week or so I noticed that they had managed to create a band of colour different to the rest of my hair. From my roots to about a third of the way down was a much more intense copper compared to the rest of my hair. Not only will I never ever return to this salon I will ensure that should anybody ask me for advice on where to go I'll tell them to steer well clear of this place. read more

Well I don't even know where to begin. From the moment you walk through the doors right through to the moment you leave you are treated as nothing short of royalty. Right from the in-depth consulation you have, the massage you receive (with lovely smelling oils!) before being shampooed, to the drinks I was offered, to the calming atmosphere and the lovely staff. I've visited a lot of salons in Leeds in the past year or so having moved over here and found I have never been happy. I'm not really a fussy person but always just felt that my stylist wasn't really fully understanding what I was asking for. My colour was a mess from the last time I'd had it done and I was a little bit nervous reading the last review on here but as far as I'm concerned she couldn't be anymore wrong. My stylist was very patient with me and completely rectified my hair! My hair looks and feels fabulous now and so do I! With everything in life you get what you pay for and in this case it was definately worth every penny! read more

I came into the salon yesterday lunchtime for the first time and made a spur-of-the-moment appointment to get my hair bobbed. I came in after work and Lucy cut my hair. Having just moved house from Wetherby to a tiny village in the countryside south of Wakefield I really needed to find a new hairdresser (or have to keep trekking to Wetherby). Always a traumatic experience and sometimes you try quite a few before you find somebody who understands you and your hair... As I mentioned to Lucy, I used to be a salon model for competitions and photographic stuff many years ago (in my teens/twenties) and have had all sorts done to my hair. I was a bit spoilt for hairdo's after that experience and over the years have always been gutted whenever a great hairdresser has moved on or I've moved and and I've had to find somebody new. Yesterday it was chance really that I found your salon - I caught sight of myself in the mirror in Debenhams at lunchtime and decided I HAD to have a haircut, then gradually worked my way back towards my office, dropping into every salon along the way until I found one which could fit me in in the next day or two. Anyway, I just wanted to give you some feedback about the whole experience. First of all, I must say I absolutely could not be any more thrilled with my new haircut - I absolutely love it and have had loads of compliments all morning at work. Some people actually walked straight past me, it is such a transformation. It is also really easy to look after - I dyed it last night (a very foxy red) and it was incredibly easy to style, it all just fell right into place - not only that, but this morning all I had to do when I got up was brush it and it all fell into place beautifully and curled under perfectly as if I'd just had a blow-dry. It now looks a gazillion percent smarter and healthier than before. I also have to say that everyone who dealt with me at the salon was great and I was highly impressed all round. Your receptionist is lovely and very welcoming, the young girl who washed my hair and gave me a head massage was really sweet and Lucy was just great - she really listened to what I wanted and then did EXACTLY what I was after. I felt confident from the word go that she understood what I was aiming for - and she cut my hair superbly, it is perfect. So all in all the whole team gets a ten out of ten from me. I will be back! HUGE THANKS to all concerned - I am already recommending the salon. Please feel free to use this email or any part of it as a testimonial on your website or wherever you like. I looked at the Russell Easton Website, and was quite impressed to say the least. there was more rhetoric than I have ever seen before and I have NEVER in all my life witnessed so much self praise and adoration. But is this to justify prices that are "off this planet"? So, reading all this I decided to pay a visit.....with cash, because if my husband saw a bank statement with a hundred and fifty quid for a hairdo on it, there would be a divorce in our house. With so many diferent grades of stylists to choose from I was spoilt for choice, I didn't realise there could be so so many levels of experience, I simply thoguht there were a fab hairdressers, mediocre ones, or a crap ones! But what was apparant at Russell Eatons was no matter what level of stylist you chose, you would have a massive extraction of hard earned cash from your purse!! So, to my visit. I am a level headed business woman, so buying into this " pure and natural eco" aveda concept does not power my yacht, so it was down to the hairdressing. A nice cut, but I had to stop the stylist cutting it too short, since I felt she did not have a good concept with inches. The colour was OK, rich red brown, but if I didn't want to risk blobbing/staining the cream marble in the bathroom with my head over the sink, could have achieved the same result with a Boots own brander at fifty pound less!!! I think Russell, his family and team are trying to tap into the "Dorian Birds of a Feather leopard skin clientele" who don't care about what they spend, but my advice to them is that this Clientel is very fickle, normally skint, and need more back combing than Eatons Lifestyle philosophy!!!! A reasonable experience at the salon.............but, TOTALLY OVERPRICED!!!!!! read more
