At Renaissance Hair in Leed, I received what can only be described as five star client service! I was late for my appointment and they were so accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. Liz stepped in to cut my hair which was a restyle and she did a fantastic job, providing exactly what I asked for and it's a long time since I walked away from z salon with a genuine smile on my face. They are a little pricey, but I didn't mind paying as the cut, and their treatment of me was worth every penny. I will definitely be back soon. Give them a try, I'm convinced you'll also walk away happy!!! 10/10 from me!

While living in Leeds, I've flitted from salon to salon on a budget, never really ending up completely happy with my haircut or hairdresser. One day after looking at Google reviews, I decided to give Renaissance a try, and boy am I glad I did! I was booked in with George, who asked me loads of questions about what I wanted, what I did and didn't like about my hair, how I style it, etc. George was really friendly, offered to get me a drink (including wine or beer - how good is that?!), and just completely made me feel at ease. I was really happy with my hair when George had finished - it looked exactly like I had in mind. I've been back several times now and been really happy each time, it finally looks like I can stop flitting from salon to salon! It wasn't expensive either, though I think it's recently increased to around £34.

I had every intention of booking but something about the place just put me off. It is really nicely laid out; it's huge actually with light and airy windows. A perfect spot to people watch while getting your hair cut. It is quite a bit more than I would usually spend and that puts me off a bit, as does the slightly scary look I get from one of the stylists who are all standing around talking. Anyway something put me off enough that I just left with a card and scuttled out saying I would call them, of course I never did. http://beautytruthsnotuglylies.blogspot.com/

I arrived to the salon and sat until 1:25 when eventually Jess approached me and asked who I was etc. 25 minutes late and she returned telling me that she didn't know what had happened but the student already had a model. I've wasted time and money coming to the salon which I won't be reimbursed for. I received a phonecall from the manager to apologise and explain that taking someone's number doesn't mean they are booked in. They are simply added to a database and the students are supposed to confirm the time with clients. Jess never explained any of this and has completely wasted my my time. Do not bother with this salon, they just waste your time and won't reimburse you when you don't get your treatment.

And well done me, I have found Westrow, and bestow upon it the title, 'my hairdressers.' I was a bit worried that they would be too trendy for me, as it certainly looks that way from the outside, but Westrow had been strongly recommended so I paid a visit. On arrival, the receptionist was very welcoming, took my coat and offered me a drink. 'A drink?' i said, 'what have you got?' She offered me the usual; tea, coffee, water, squash....wine. 'Wine?' i said, 'do you have a sauvignon blanc?' She looked at me and said, 'I'll see.' To be honest, I was so excited at the wine-gift, I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference anyway. Anyway. A lovely man called Guy cut my hair. He listened to everything I had to say, and gave me a full consultation and ensured that I was completely happy with his hair-plan before he started. Basically, it was the best hair cut I've ever had. I went home and wifey said, 'oh my god, your hair looks amazing.' He's never said that before. Ever. In fact, he was so impressed, he went along to see Guy a week or two later, and was absolutely delighted; Wifey is THE most difficult hair cut-ee to impress as he ALWAYS hates his newly cut hair. But not this time! He's making an appointment next week. Well done Guy. Well done.

When I was taken through to the salon, and asked about the texturising services, he admitted he couldn't advised me on those services, there was only one stylist who could advise me,and she was busy. After protesting that I'd booked the consultation specifically to find about these services he went to get her. When she came over, without asking me what I was looking for she advised me I didn't want a perm, that a perm would only result in spiral curls and she "didn't like doing them" anyway. Complete waste of my time. Rude and patronising, exactly what you don't want in a hairdresser.

After going 6 months without a hair cut, I decided it was time to do something about my giant 'do!…read more I chose this particular salon as a work colleague recommended it and it is just over the road from where I work. It's a smart looking place, usually frequented by all the solicitors etc in the area but there were a couple of children in there when I went in. I believe all the hairdressers in there are independent, as they seem to have their own separate appointment books, separate client lists and use their mobiles to book appointments as well as the salon number. Now, my hair is (possibly world) renowned for being difficult. Anytime I present it to a new hairdresser, they are genuinely shocked at how thick it is! Bearing this in mind, you can imagine I find it incredibly difficult to get a decent hair cut. My experience at 4 Park Square was ok, however the cut I emerged with was not the cut I went in for. I didn't want to have my hair washed (just another one of my strange hang-ups) and had therefore washed it just before I went to my appointment. As I was also due at work, I thought this would save a bit of time. However, they insisted on washing it, which didn't get the experience off to a great start. The cut itself seems pretty good, I had a fair bit of length off but it still feels like it needs more cut out of it to make it thinner. I stated that I didn't want the top layers cutting any shorter than they were, however these have had quite a bit cut off - meaning my penchant for vintage hair styling is going to have to take a break until it grows back! She also refused to cut more length off the back (which is what I asked for - a sort of long graduted bob which I have had previously), but did say I could go back in within a few days if I wasn't happy with it. It looked nice, however having stated I didn't want to have to spend half an hour of my morning straightening it, the hairdresser proceeded to get the large GHD's out and spent a good 20mins straightening it after cutting the length off. I discovered this morning that there is no way on earth I can leave the house without straightening it, as the cut does NOT look good otherwise. I was told I would be able to wear it more textured however this isn't going to be a possibility! My only other complaint would be how sore my scalp has been since, through a combination of repeated rough brushing and pulling when cutting, I think mainly because it is so thick and takes a bit of effort - but I've not really had this problem after getting my hair cut elsewhere. All in all I'd say OK - but I'm not sure I'd go back. EDIT - having lived with this hair for a few days I decided I'd been too nice with 3 stars, 2 it is!

I first came across this place when I cut my hair REALLY short. It was great until it started growing out and it got to that horrible awkward length where you can't do anything with it. This is when I took a trip here in search of some hair extentions.   The shop is run by middle aged men (for some reason I was expecting women who wear extentions and hair products to be the sales assistants) and as confusing as this was to me when I first walked in boy do they know they stuff! You can see them take a look at your hair for a few seconds then off they go to the wall of extentions and select two shades one of which is always a perfect match. They never do the hard sell they are just really friendly and give really great service. I have even been in for advice in dying my hair as I wanted to achieve a specific colour and they told me exactly how I would be able to. The quality in all the hair they sell is really great and I have even had the chance to try their luxury hair range which is around the £70 mark but well worth the extra money. I was actually given a discount on it too which made it that bit better. Whatever your needs you are bound to find something in here, they even sell makeup and false lashes for really cheap! I have been in before looking for a specific hair dye which they didn't stock. The manager asked me to write the name of it down so he could buy some in! They are literally that nice! The staff in this shop being as great as they are just makes me want to go back, and so my addiction to hair extentions and hair dye and is not going to end any time soon.

I nipped in here one day as I was having a wander through town as I noticed that they offered spa and beauty treatments too. I went in only with the intention of picking up a few leaflets to take away and read but the lovely manager offered to show me the treatment spaces! We walked through their salon, which looks to be extremely well kept and high end, and wandered down the stairs into the area where the massages and such are held. As soon as you enter the space a wave of calm envelops you; everything is painted over in a deep chocolate, almost black, and there are dimly lit spot lights around to keep the space as relaxing as possible. There was an area sectioned off by these dangling chains/links which created a little separate sofa space. The lady explained to me that this is the relaxation area for after treatments - no one is rushed out after their appointment, and they're free to chill out in there with a tea or a coffee for as long as they like! Then she showed me one of the massage rooms. It was a little parlour of heaven! The room was also painted in the deep chocolates, but with little arrangements of candles and minimalistic decoration, all of which blended in to create a lovely space. I couldn't imagine anywhere being more blissful to receive a massage! I thanked her as we went back up and took away some leaflets to browse over. The prices seem to be a touch higher than I had hoped but in any case, I have my Mum coming to visit in a few weeks and I think this is definitely going to be on the 'to do' list! From hair cuts, dyes, re-stylings, beauty massages, facials, eyebrow shapings and much much more, Russell Eaton seems to be the high end beauty specialist of Leeds. A beautifully designed and decorated space, with lovely staff and a huge range of different services!

Oh and are we spoilt for choose in Leeds Russell Eaton though has become somewhere that I need to have more of in my life. Maybe it's because they use the quite simply divine Aveda products. I've always been a fan of Aveda, ever since it cropped up in Harvey Nichols and alas the salon went away a while ago. The products remain on sale there though and now you can have that experience in salon form once again. Cutting edge cuts if you so wish funky premises and stupidly cool staff (as always in top end salons). Yep it is quite like many a salon in that description and it isn't anything ground breaking or new. What it is is quality. That's what you want from a hair cut and that is what you'll get. Oh and it's heavy on the organic, nice!
