I have been going to Vidal Sassoon for many years, an old customer, some would say stupid. However I must report standards have slipped dramatically .
In for my usual cut and colour the appointment to start with was badly arranged. Hair washed, cut, then dried by usual hair dresser. Passed onto usual colourist who rushed the colour, again passed on to the hair washer to wash my hair and who then stood in for the over booked hair cutter to actually blow wave my hair. She turned out to be a student near to qualifying with such a heavy hand I had to tell her to go easy. Four hours later I left the salon having paid £245 pounds which included 2 products, always felt sorry for them. Neither the colourist nor the cutter checked my hair.
I went out, it was a windy day. I touched my hair, it was crisp, full of yuck. Touched my scalp it felt numb, sore, it was weeping, it was bleeding.
Went back to Vidals to complain to the " manager" of the day, they take it in turns. He was shocked, gave me my money back, I didn't want the money, I wanted reassurance my hair wouldn't fall out, the colourist summoned, said to let her know how it went as she would be so worried till she heard from me. Not as worried as I was when I saw the brush that had caused my injury lying on a chair not cleaned or sterilised.
The whole appointment was poor, the hair stylist, the colourist, the useless hair washer - blow dryer student, nobody cared about what she did, nor checked what she was doing. They were all inept and unprofessional and I worry about the lack of hygiene.
So my hair is returning to normal after visits to my GP and weeks of pain and scabs and worry. I have found a great local hairdresser who takes pride in her work. I would warn people that Vidal Sassoon is not as it was and to spend their money elsewhere. A number of years ago it was the place to go but times change. Now is the time to put up its shutters and close its doors for good. read more
