If you love fashion, and shoes in particular, then you need to make a pilgrimage to the Kurt Geiger…read morestore in the Princes Square shopping centre. Yes, there is a Kurt Geiger concession in Fraser's across the road - but it's not quite as good as having a dedicated shop, is it? And this isn't just any shop, either. It's gorgeous! The shoes obviously take centre stage (though it's better if you don't bother to look too closely at the prices...) It's great to have a taste of real high-fashion footwear on the high street. Plus, if, like me, you do have a bit of difficulty justifying their prices - make a trip here during sale periods when the prices are far more attractive on even their most expensive shoes.

There…read moreis nothing I hate more than poor quality shoes and I think there is a fine line between quirkily fashionable and just plain tacky. For me Kurt Gieger comes under the quirkily fashionable bracket and the likes of Dune can sometimes be dangerously close to being tacky (yet still expensive!). In the line of work I'm in I know how to spot a good shoe and Kurt Gieger ticks all the boxes for me, especially with their own KG brand. The heels tend to be solid and are often wooden stacked, rather than plastic, making them much more durable. They also tend to be leather on the inside and out and leather is more comfortable and absorbs sweat (ewwwww) better than other materials meaning your shoes shouldn't end up smelly (double ewwwwww). However what I like best about KG shoes is that they normally have a padded insole which makes even the highest of high heels feel so much comfier and more wearable. The Princes Square Kurt Gieger store is usually quite quiet and this can make you feel a little bit under the spotlight as the staff ask you if you are ok at least 10 times. In saying that though, if you do need any help it means you get their undivided attention!

Sadly, my feet are too small to fit any of the shoes here and no matter how many shoe inserts I buy they still don't fit. Most shoes are around £60+ and they also do bags and belts which are quite pricey too. I did manage to find a beautiful waist belt for only £12 once though. The shop is very small and can get very busy which then becomes quite chaotic as there are shoe sizes flying in every direction from eager shoe fanatics. There's also a 50-50 split between the male and female shoes which is nice. I always go in for a browse, especially when it comes to sale time in the hope that I can find something that fits. Please Dune, start making smaller sizes! Although, maybe it's a good thing for my purse that I can't fit anything here.

Anyway, the staff were on me straight away, I seem to sense a hint of sales target. The poor souls, they were ever so helpful, and ran back and forth to get me sizes and colours. I felt so guilty, and definitely a little obliged to buy buy buy, which I didn't particularly want to do necessarily. Long story short, I left with a pair of boots that were on the sale for £70! Oh my god, I have to say these are probably some of my more recent and mose expensive purchases on footwear, excluding my ski boots. I am just glad they were boots, and not a strappy sandal, at least I feel as though I got more for my money.

Popped in here for a new bag today (finally getting a SENSIBLE bag for once) and couldn't give up…read moreon the amazing MARVEL messenger bag they have in store. I wouldn't normally do a review of a shop, yet the service I got in here was really good. Schuh have a wide variety of shoes - all on the slightly alternative side - which I love. You can get brands such as Vans, Converse and Skechers as well as my personal favourite - Irregular Choice. The staff are attentive, quick to say hello, and the young gentleman who served me today was, if anything, a bit too over-enthusiastic. They do mobile card payments so you don't have to pay a bill, and if you're happy giving out an email address, they'll email you the receipt which I think is a great idea! Lovely wee shop.

I'm not really into shoes, I'm really not. And I really don't like shopping at all either. But when…read moreI go into Schuh I do ooh and aah a bit over their lovely shoes. They have a great range, and some really fun shoes. I particularly like the Irregular Choice brand for fancy shoes, and on this visit I noticed that Schuh have started doing their own range of similarly styled, very fun and pretty shoes. But anyway, I was here for a pair of sensible and sturdy flat shoes, not some sequinned and be-ribboned fripperies. And they have sensible shoes too. They also have other brands I like like Rocket Dog and Blowfish. So although I'm not really into shoes, I really could fill my boots (sorry) with shoes here. Because they have such a big range, as a retail outlet, Schuh does feel a bit cramped - there are shoes everywhere you turn, and there's not really a free flow round the shop, so leave your big shoulder bag at home if you don't want to wreak havoc with the free standing displays. I bought a pair of Doc Marten Mary Janes. My boyfriend is going to hate them because they look like shoes I had for school in 1978 and that's not sexy. They're big and clumpy but I think they're quite cool, and anyway we're coming up for winter, so that's what I got. They didn't have my size in stock, but they have a good service where they will order them for you and if you don't like them you can return them with no quibble at all within a year. While you can order them to be delivered to your home (for free!) I had them ordered in to the shop, which is really convenient as if you don't like them, the return will take two minutes. The staff are really helpful. Maybe a bit too helpful in that within 2 minutes of being in the shop, you WILL be asked at least 4 times if you 'need any help'. And I get the distinct feeling that they WILL tell you that your choice of shoes is the best choice of shoes ever in the world even if you have the most hideous creations known to shoe-kind on your feet. They guy who I got today had some quite funny banter though, so I almost even enjoyed my shoe buying experience. I might even go back for some cute little Rocket Dog ankle boots I saw. WHAT'S HAPPENING TO ME!!!

Daniel Footwear is an upmarket shoe shop in Hyndland. It's a great addition to the high-end clothes…read moreshops on Hyndland Road - and is great for a browse even if you don't have £100+ to spend on a pair of shoes. They stock mainly women's shoes, but you'll find a good selection of men's shoes in there too. As for brands - you'll find a large selection of Ugg boots (for women and children, if only the baby pink ones came in my size...) as well as Daniel Footwear's own brand you'll also find shoes from Prada, Lulu Guinness, Missoni, G-Star, Juicy Couture and countless others. To be honest, it's worth making a trip to Daniel Footwear JUST for their great selection of Lulu Guinness bags. Heavenly! They also have a sale on at the moment, and many of their shoes are slashed to half price. Definitely worth a bit of a gander.

I must say their shoes shipped quick! I am a US buyer, being that fly london is not a US based shoe…read morestore and cost more in the US, I took a chance on buying from this business. What do you know, the shoes were a tad bit too big, so I needed to return. This is my personal opinion, I am not sure of what type of shoe business this is in the UK, but it is definitely not customer service friendly to US folks. no return policy as far as returns you on your own.  I paid for shipping and I know I also received a discount. The shoes in the US are a little pricey here, so I saved ordering from them, but boy when I went to UPS to ask about returning they wanted over $200 to ship back, USPS charged me about $49 to ship back and that was the cheapest and slowest route  I could get. The shoes arrived back to them  really quick as I got my refund of 106.00 back so i lost out, because i originally paid 131.78. Sad to say for the hassle i wish i would have just bought in the US and paid the extra because in the end I have NO shoes!!!! I am too scared now to order from them again. It's throwing away free money. It would have been nice if they had a return direct even if you were told up front that there was a flat fee return of lets say 25.00, but I think for the future unless I know for sure about the shoe, I am going to pass on doing business with Daniel footwear. I am not into tossing my hard earned money away!
