There…read moreis nothing I hate more than poor quality shoes and I think there is a fine line between quirkily fashionable and just plain tacky. For me Kurt Gieger comes under the quirkily fashionable bracket and the likes of Dune can sometimes be dangerously close to being tacky (yet still expensive!). In the line of work I'm in I know how to spot a good shoe and Kurt Gieger ticks all the boxes for me, especially with their own KG brand. The heels tend to be solid and are often wooden stacked, rather than plastic, making them much more durable. They also tend to be leather on the inside and out and leather is more comfortable and absorbs sweat (ewwwww) better than other materials meaning your shoes shouldn't end up smelly (double ewwwwww). However what I like best about KG shoes is that they normally have a padded insole which makes even the highest of high heels feel so much comfier and more wearable. The Princes Square Kurt Gieger store is usually quite quiet and this can make you feel a little bit under the spotlight as the staff ask you if you are ok at least 10 times. In saying that though, if you do need any help it means you get their undivided attention!

But anyway, back to The Shoe Studio. Nice enough staff, they are helpful if asked but dont follow you round the shop which I hate. No pressure sell. Nice place to shop if you have cash to burn.

I swear, the pair I have now, I only bought a few months ago, but with the amount of walking I do, my trainers wear out quite quickly. Anyway, just now, there is an incredible sale on, and you're likely to buy a rather expensive pair of trainers at a well discounted price. It's worth taking a look. They also have a clothing section, which I've never actually gone to, and also an online shop with more gems to purchase. The staff here are super helpful, and I swear, the conversation flows like water when they hear I'm not from Glasgow. It's really fun trying to convince someone who is fae Glasgow that I actually really love it here. Most shoes are around £60+ and they also do bags and belts which are quite pricey too. I did manage to find a beautiful waist belt for only £12 once though. The shop is very small and can get very busy which then becomes quite chaotic as there are shoe sizes flying in every direction from eager shoe fanatics. There's also a 50-50 split between the male and female shoes which is nice. I always go in for a browse, especially when it comes to sale time in the hope that I can find something that fits. Please Dune, start making smaller sizes! Although, maybe it's a good thing for my purse that I can't fit anything here.

I wouldn't normally do a review of a shop, yet the service I got in here was really good. Schuh have a wide variety of shoes - all on the slightly alternative side - which I love. You can get brands such as Vans, Converse and Skechers as well as my personal favourite - Irregular Choice. The staff are attentive, quick to say hello, and the young gentleman who served me today was, if anything, a bit too over-enthusiastic. They do mobile card payments so you don't have to pay a bill, and if you're happy giving out an email address, they'll email you the receipt which I think is a great idea! Lovely wee shop.

The shoes in the US are a little pricey here, so I saved ordering from them, but boy when I went to UPS to ask about returning they wanted over $200 to ship back, USPS charged me about $49 to ship back and that was the cheapest and slowest route  I could get. The shoes arrived back to them  really quick as I got my refund of 106.00 back so i lost out, because i originally paid 131.78. Sad to say for the hassle i wish i would have just bought in the US and paid the extra because in the end I have NO shoes!!!! I am too scared now to order from them again. It's throwing away free money. It would have been nice if they had a return direct even if you were told up front that there was a flat fee return of lets say 25.00, but I think for the future unless I know for sure about the shoe, I am going to pass on doing business with Daniel footwear. To be honest, it's worth making a trip to Daniel Footwear JUST for their great selection of Lulu Guinness bags. Heavenly! They also have a sale on at the moment, and many of their shoes are slashed to half price. Definitely worth a bit of a gander.
