I bought a pair of boots and one wasn't the same size. Went inside, told the employees, got my other boot in the right size and everything was fine. Got out to my car and the boss came out to my car and made it look like I was stealing. He demanded me to come back inside so he can check it out. Everyone was giving me looks thinking I stole, it was honestly humiliating. He told me it was practically my fault, when it was in fact the employees. He was blaming it on me that I should've told someone, when in fact 3 employees knew what was happening. TRAIN YOUR EMPLOYEES BETTER!!!! Will never come back to this store again! I love the Rural King. I just like to go and wander, and I always end up taking something home I didn't know I needed. Their store brand jeans are inexpensive and durable. I recently was looking for a new pair of hiking boots, and decided to check Rural King out, and found a pair that are serving me quite nicely, again, store brand, again, for a very reasonable price. This store looks a bit more unkempt than some of the other Rural Kings I've visited, still, we enjoy shopping here. read more

Customer service obviously is not high on their priority with their staff working the front desk or floor. They spend more time trying to avoid helping customers than I do helping customers is what I have found. I asked a question about Ordering several bags of grass seed and you would swear I inconvenienced them and ruin their day. I took my business elsewhere. Gun barn department is so slow! Ordered a gun online and it took over an hour wait just for them to ask me what I needed. While waiting still, he checked someone out with ammo... but when I first got there to grab ammo he told me to go to the front to check out. I bought a very expensive belt from here supposedly it's "quality" leather and all... It broke in the very most odd way, I tried to take it back and exchange it, showing them how it broke and told them I haven't had it but 5 months they said sure go grab a different one, I come back with the same belt and then they say they cannot do the exchange because I don't have a receipt! I was annoyed by that, BUT I moved on! I go to the gun department to get the gun that I've been wanting to get, I wait over an hour, I decided to just come back later in the day because they are busy! I call them before I came back to check and see if they still had the same gun, waited 20 minutes on the phone for them to just hang up on me. I call back wait another 10 minutes, they say yes they still have it soooooo I came back after I called them, (the same day!) trying to buy that gun that I thought was very bad ass! I am standing in line waiting yet again, this time for 30+ minutes! Finally everyone else leaves, the guy is ignoring me, I was just patiently waiting for him to get to me because I knew he had been busy all day. About 5 minutes pass by before he finally he says, may I help you , I said yes sir, I want to buy that gun and I point at it and then he literally laughed out laud and says sorry we close in 9 minutes, there is no time to run a background check. He clearly saw me there earlier in the day, and then later they're standing and waiting.... I will never go back to this location and give my business anymore! Came to the Kokomo location to do some shopping with the kids and was treated as a criminal as soon as I entered the building. I was told to either leave my 7 month olds diaper bag either at customer service or leave the store. I questioned this and was told again to leave the bag at customer service or leave. I reached out to Rural Kings corporate office and they stated no diaper bags, duffel bags, or even a woman's purse will be allowed in this location. Went to Rural King to purchase a firearm after thoroughly reading their price match guarantee. Their price match guarantee clearly states that they "will match any local competitors printed or online ad." It further states "their sale is our sale." Dunham's had the firearm cheaper to begin with and also had the $50 off any handgun over $499 sale going on. I would typically rather purchase a firearm from Rural King, but not willing to pay them 12% more for the exact same firearm. The manager I dealt with called the store manager and because Dunham's didn't have one in stock, they would not honor the price. I will not be buying any more firearms at Rural King. Their price match policy is false advertising. read more
