Running Wild - Sporting Goods Near Me - Fort Lauderdale, Florida

A few big brand name running sneakers offered like Hoka, Brooks, Asics and New Balance. The owner or manager indicated that he recently ran a marathon and wore the $250.00 sneakers on display, they literally weighed six ounces. Anyways, it was a good story. Aside from sneakers, they offer sandals from Oofos and Spenco. A few styles of dri fit running shirts and socks. The sneaker prices listed in the store are very competitive with online offers. read more

My husband and I have been going to Running Wild on and off for many years and recently had an issue with a pair of Hokas. They kindly exchanged them, though they did not have to, and provided superior customer service throughout the process. We will definitely purchase our next pairs of running shoes from them. The owner, Don, just wants his customers to be happy and he and his staff are knowledgeable and patient. Kudos to the entire team at Running Wild...they are the best of the best! read more

I've been coming here for years and always have a great experience. The staff is knowledgable. They look at your treads and how you walk to recommend a shoe. read more

Excellent & knowledgeable service! Walked out with new shoes and a lovely experience to boot (or sneakers)! Will definitely be back Highly recommended read more

My husband and I went in for new running shoes, we needed some guidance on what to get which is why we chose to go here rather than Dick's. We were immediately greeted by Marcus who helped us the whole time. He took his time to explain everything about our walk and why he recommended the shoes he did. You can tell he genuinely cares about helping people, he was not pushy at all with anything. I would absolutely recommend going here for a personalized experience, and the shoes are the same price as online! read more

I went inside to look at bicycle helmets and I was very surprised at the variety and selection this store had. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The store has been around since 1986, so many years of supporting and providing sporting gear for the Fort Lauderdale community. There were great looking T-shirts, sneakers, sandals, fitness monitor wristbands, bicycles for sale, helmets, backpacks, etc... For a small store in a strip mall across the Galleria, the inventory of goods was really good and surprising. I saw many top brand products from Accel Gel, ASICS, Balega socks, Brooks, Feetures!, Garmin, GU, goodr, Hammer Nutrition, HOKA, Honey Stinger, lululemon, Mizuno, Nathan, New Balance, Saucony (which is my favorite brand of sneakers), Spenco, Sorbothane, Superfeet and Thorlo. Great independent sporting goods store ! read more

I have extremely flat feet and currently have posterior tibial tendinitis. Ricky did a great job fitting me and helping me find a sneaker that fit. Unfortunately they were out of stock in most of the colors I would have wanted so I had to get them elsewhere. read more

Walked in and was immediately helped. The staff measured my feet, made some recommendations, and had me try several different shoes to tailor to my needs. All within 15min. Great customer service. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. I will be returning for my next pair. read more

A great local place to support! We stopped by to browse for some running shoes and as soon as we walked in, we were greeted and assisted right away. I told them I was looking for some sneakers that I could run in and also do HIIT, because evidently I was doing all of that in shoes that were meant for walking. I originally asked to see their Saucony selection, but ultimately bought some Brooks. I tried on a few pairs and the gentlemen who helped me were so patient and gave great advice on running and the type of shoe needed for support. I walked out a happy customer and more knowledgeable. We also found out they host a two mile run every Tuesday that ends at a bar! So we're looking into joining that one of these days. If you're in the market for some sneakers, this is the place to get them! read more

Personal service and attention was very nice and unexpected, very helpful in choosing the correct pair of sneakers for my lifestyle. Guided me to the correct brands for my foot width and arches, ended up with the Hoka brand. Quite frankly, these were the MOST COMFORTABLE sneakers/shoes I have ever felt. I walked over 5 miles in them the first day and my feet never felt better! Definitely worth the drive and expense!! read more

Terrible I bought a $200 pair of shoes and never wore than tried to return them within 2 weeks of buying which policy is within 30 days and was told I wore them and they won't return there was one spot on the shoe they were never worn. I will never return to this store or recommend them to anyone again.Total rip off read more

It takes a lot for me to visit a physical store these days when I can buy anything online...however the 40 minute drive to Running Wild could not have been more worth my time. I walked in to the store and was immediately greeted and helped. I took off my shoes and ran across the store and was asked if I ever got blisters in a specific place on my foot. It felt like he was psychic because I do in fact only ever get blisters in that specific place. He had me try a few pair of shoes to stabilize my foot and I immediately fell in love with the first pair (which came in the exact colors I requested). He showed me how to put them on and tie them properly and I was in and out within about 15 minutes. In general I have no problem paying a little more for excellent service and to support a local business. However, out of curiosity I checked the price online and couldn't find the shoes I bought anywhere for a cheaper price! Will definitely be returning to Running Wild for all my future running shoes! read more

Great local shop in Fort Lauderdale near the Galleria Mall. Running Wild is independently owned and the staff have such a passion for running. They fitted me for running shoes years ago and they have remained my go to choice after multiple marathons and half marathons. If you need anything running related, especially to get fitted properly for shoes, this is your place. Happily refer all my running friends or friends just starting to run to Running Wild. read more

It was a real pleasure meeting Ron Wennerstrom, the owner. He is a real amiable guy and he took time in fitting me with the perfect shoes, which were Brooks Dyad 11. Without a doubt, the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. With a little training, I should be ready for the Olympics, yeah right! In any event, South Florida, and especially Fort Lauderdale, are very proud to have Running Wild as part of the community, with first class products and superior customer service. If you want the best running and walking shoes, stop in and see Don and his excellent staff. You will be glad you did. www.runningwild.com. read more

Usually very nice staff and easy to deal with, my greatest disappointment came on my recent visit to the store. I have a $$ store credit, but couldn't use it, they sad was not on the computer, when they gave the credit I was told I wouldn't need any receipt to redeem it, just show my iD with my name and would be able to locate, well, that didn't happen, plus I was treated like a fraud. Can't believe I won't be able to shop or recommend #RunningWild any longer. read more

I had arthroscopic surgery a year ago and my knee never really recovered from it. Week after week of Physical Therapy only got me so far. I was recommended to try a new sneaker that would give me more support so I yelped and found Running Wild. I explained my issue and they took my foot measurements and just 4 pairs the pain had subsided! They had me walk around the store to measure my gait and we decided that the Brooks was the best for me. The price was fair and later research shows me I could not buy the Brooks on line any cheaper. I love the service, and the pain is good! Thank you, Running Wild! read more

I hate to say it but they are not a runner's running store. The selection is too slim. They always look like they are going out of business and with good reason. I was looking for a stable shoe, they had two, the one they pushed was the Brooks Beast which weighed a ton and was not good at all. I did my own homework and moved into the Hoka Arahi bought from REI (perfect). I've tried them a few more times to support local but they didn't have layers or rain jackets. The worse is they give off the snooty, "I'm a real runner" vibe which is a turn-off. It's a business at the end of the day....do better at faking being a humble human or go broke. They are literally why folks shop online. read more

Running Wild is the best place to shop at in Ft Lauderdale if you're looking for new running/walking shoes or apparel! The shop is clean, organized, and filled with a great variety of running shoes for men and women. They carry Asics, Brooks, New Balance, Hoka One One, and Saucony for running shoes. They also sell Lululemon apparel, Garmin watches, Goodr Sunglasses, and a variety of other running accessories. They have quality products and excellent customer service that never disappoints. Don and the rest of the staff are some of the friendliest people in the business, and will take good care of you. Running Wild is all about bringing the Ft Lauderdale community together with their free weekly Thursday night Funky Fun Run, which is temporarily on hold due to COVID-19 restrictions. We all look forward to the day that it can be brought back and we can gather together safely. In the meantime, when you're in need of a new pair of running shoes be sure to check out Running Wild and shop local! read more

A follow up on a previous post. I bought a nice pair of sandals, unfortunately they tore within 3-4 months of purchasing. The owner said there was nothing he could do as it was beyond their 30 day return policy. Oofos, the manufacturer saw a post on Facebook and immediately responded. According to the manufacturer, they have a 6 month warranty and have stepped up to remedy the situation. Because Running Wild was too lazy to address this themselves, they've lost a customer. I expressed to the owner that this is exactly why consumers buy online or at big box stores...poor customer service!! Thank you Oofos for your immediate response and professionalism read more

Had such a great experience looking for a pair of running shoes here. I'm trying to get healthier and felt a little self conscious coming here since I don't look like a runner at all. It couldn't have been a more positive and welcoming experience. Walked out with a pair of Brooks sneakers, socks, and sunglasses. They will def keep my business. read more

What a terrific first experience with a local merchant! I was greeted quickly and the owner did a great job of determining what my running style and needs were. Easily accessible location, convenient parking, very neatly arranged store. Prompt friendly greeting. Split opinion on the sales assistance. Here's why. My podiatrist recommended a particular brand of sneaker which the older sales associate flat out told me, No, that brand wasn't a good fit for me, supposedly too narrow. When I asked him are they available in wide, he replied, yes, but quickly flat out said he wouldn't order the wide because he doesn't know how they would fit. In hindsight, I now realize how intense pain can warp one's mental clarity. Because after several doses of anti-inflammatory medicine for my ailing foot and further reflection on the sales associate's comment, it dawned on me that has to be the most nonsensical advice that I've ever accepted. The sneakers the sales associate recommended and I eventually purchased are not the most stylish, but are comfortable. I regret I didn't comparision shop to get them less expensively elsewhere. End Note: I went online and ordered a pair of the sneakers my podiatrist originally recommended. The wide width fit fine and cost a lot less than the sneakers I bought from RW. read more

Great experience overall and the knowledge. Truly enjoyed visiting the store and getting two pair of running sneakers while there.

We usually go to the chain stores (Dick's Sporting Goods, Sports Authority) to look for running shoes. While the staff at these stores are helpful if you can find them they are not really knowledgeable. So we took a chance and looking for a specialty running store...... We found Running Wild on East Sunrise Blvd and hit the mother load! Robert was our salesman. A very knowledgeable, former professional pilot who just happens to be a track coach at one of the surrounding schools. He started with my wife. Had her walk up and down the store while watching her feet and posture. Then he came up with shoe options and explained how they support her foot and had her walk around. After about 15 minutes she found the shoes that felt great and supported her foot properly. Then he had me do the same and examined my asics which I had brought with me. He examined the shoes and explained the wear pattern. He had me try on different pairs of Brooks running shoes and I could immediately feel the difference between the various models as well the major difference from my asics. Now your probably wondering about the price. I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for. The shoes averaged about $140.00 but with Brooks you have thirty days and if your not happy with them you can return them. Bottom line is we had a great experience, we were no pushed into any specific shoes and were fortunate enough to get a great salesman who educated us about running and shoe construction. We will definitely go back in the future! Thanks Robert!!!!!! read more
